A fast, newly computed high-performance lens for portraiture and photojournalism. Also excellent for quick snapshots when you want to take pictures inconspicuously from a distance. Its high speed permits relatively fast shutter speeds that prevent blurred images caused by camera motion. With an aspherical lens element and Apochromatic correction, this lens sets new standards in the category of short telephoto lenses. Built-in sliding lens hood.
This lens has been updated with the "6-bit" coding, which allows the digital M camera to read this information optically and to identify which lens is being used. The camera can then (optionally) apply a "final stage" software based vignetting correction (for RAW images the lens used is simply recorded, no change is made).

Comments about Leica Telephoto 90mm f/2.0 APO Summicron M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens (6-Bit, Updated for Digital) - Black:
The best medio-tele ever. Full stop.
I used it since years from the M6 to the M9, amazing colour balance and terrific bokeh, incredibly sharp even wide open.
Ideal lens for weddings in natural light

I used it the first time on our Alaska trip. Great tele-lens and super crisp sharp photos. It is a little bit difficult to focus with 2.o but every thing else is just simply fun to use.

Comments about Leica Telephoto 90mm f/2.0 APO Summicron M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens (6-Bit, Updated for Digital) - Black:
The best portrait lens I've ever used/tried/owned. Very solid built quality. All the qualities you want from the portrait lens you'll definitely find in this heavy and solid/in any respect/performer! Sharpness/smoothness/color-fullness and accuracy - all there!!!
I own this lens for about 10 years.

Comments about Leica Telephoto 90mm f/2.0 APO Summicron M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens (6-Bit, Updated for Digital) - Black:
The Aperture ring seems misaligned in that it starts at about 4 O clock on the barrel when you face the lens, rather than at 12 oclock. This makes it hard to see quickly what the aperture setting is as you have to twist the camera to see. I will send it back.

Comments about Leica Telephoto 90mm f/2.0 APO Summicron M Aspherical Manual Focus Lens (6-Bit, Updated for Digital) - Black:
I use this lens not only for portraits, but for pretty much everything. I use it on my M7 and M9 and have had it for some time now (i.e., my lens does not have the 6-Bit coding). Could not be happier with the photographs taken with this lens. Love the feel of it on the camera and the ease of use. Silky smooth in use. Built-in lens cap is a real plus.
