Visible Dust UltraMXD-Vswab 1.0x - Green Series (12-Pack)
The VisibleDust UltraMXD-Vswab is an innovative sensor cleaning swab with a unique "V" shape design that has several advantages over the more common square format swabs. The narrower edge of the V shaped swab minimizes the contact between the swab and the chamber wall reducing the chances of dust or lint from the camera body from falling on the sensor while cleaning.
Plus the "V" shape allows for better maneuverability and easy swabbing while inside the chamber, and allows the user to apply more equal pressure to the edge of the swab pad for a more homogeneous swabbing motion and less streaking along the edges.
The ultra thin MXD-100 multi fiber fabric of the Green Series swabs has a patented folding design to create a softer edge (compared to a hot sealing process), and is designed to be compatible with a wide range of VisibleDust solutions. The 1.0x size is specially designed to provide a single swipe cleaning action for "full frame" image sensors.

As it is the swabs are easy to use. I used one swab with a couple drops of Eclipse and cleaned my 5D to near-perfection in two passes. Total time - including watching how-to videos - 30 minutes. I estimate this box of 12 will last at least 2 years. So although this product is expensive the cost of an effective cleaning really isn't once you factor in how long one box will last.
The other thing to consider is, although they're expensive, what are the alternatives? When you're seeing dust spots in every shot tighter than f/8 it's time for a serious cleaning. Eventually the air blower doesn't cut it anymore and you need to swab the sensor directly (the AA filter actually in most DSLRs). Don't fear the process, it's actually much easier than you probably heard.
This company offers many variations of a basic sensor swab and in my opinion their product line is needlessly complicated. But the "V-Swabs" I bought are well-made and, with a little bit of homework before using them, they do a very good job.

Absolutely not happy about this product. Within last 6 months 3 times cleaned my Canon 5D Mark II sensor and 3 times didn't succeed to remove all the dust. Every time I used two swabs making one swap with each with cleaning solution liquid. Last time I included in cleaning process additionally 2 corner swabs. Bad results! Round shape pieces of strings are left on the sensor every time. After close look on the swabs I discovered that pieces of material falls out from the corner of swabs. This rubbish pollutes the sensor! No matter how many swabs you use and how delicate you clean your sensor, pieces of swab material fall out from the swab and make whole process useless!
In a past I used another swabs from different manufacture and never had such troubles… I think I better return to the previous type of swabs…

It's difficult (for me) to clean my camera's sensor without leaving streaks. These swabs seem to work the best. Light to very light pressure and only 1 or 2 drops of cleaning fluid, seems to be the best combination. Remember less is more with cleaning fluid.

Even though these are expensive, you still require them to get the job done. I have used other brands and with all of the swabs, you need more than one to get the hard spots removed. Myself and a friend have never been able to use just one swab as demostrated. Count on using up to 6 or 7 swabs sometimes to clean a sensor. In the end, it's still cheaper and faster cleaning the sensor yourself. Even taking your camera back to the manufacturer, still doesn't guarrantee they will do any better

We use these swabs with Eclipse Fluid and were very frustrated, until we found we needed to us different cleaners for our Canon sensors. E2 for the 1Ds Mk III and Eclipse Optic Cleaner for our 5d Mk II. The 1Ds Mk III has a tin oxide coated sensor (news to me) and requires a different formula. If you're changing lenses and shooting at small apertures, you're going to get dirt and it will show up in the worst places. In Kansas, the wind blows all the time. We clean all the time and have never had a scratch.

Living in Northern Arizona there's dust everywhere. Sensor gets dirty no matter what. If I can't blow the dust out or the sensor brush won't get it, I use these Visible Dust swabs. Works great every time.

Some people just aren't smart enough to clean their own camera sensor, and I think I'm in that crowd. I'd gone through an entire box of the other folks' swabs with no success. It took 7 of the 12 in the box of these green ones before I decided it was clean enough, though still not perfect. It's been a long time since I've missed Tri-X and D-76, but today is definitely one of those days.

there is nothing more annoying then dust on my image sensor!! it drives me nuts, i just had to get it clean, after checking the web and looking at some videos of these in use i decided to get them.
And they work, it helps to have a bright light source and a clean working environment, but short of sending the camera in, this is the best way to clean the sensor.
