The Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery Pack (7.2V), has a capacity of 1800mAh, making it possible to shoot up to 850 shots at normal temperatures on a single battery charge. The battery is also more compact and lightweight than previous battery models.
The LP-E6 battery also communicates with the EOS 5D Mark II, 60D and 7D digital cameras, so that you can always check the remaining capacity on the camera's power source info screen. In addition, a unique feature of the LP-E6 battery pack is that it has a microchip encoded with an 8-character serial number. So when the battery pack is installed in the camera, you can register it using a menu command. Then track the condition and power characteristics of up to 6 batteries in your camera to ensure you use your batteries evenly and identify batteries that are near the end of their useful lifespan.

I recieved the new LP-E6 batteries (2) just before I went on vacation with my new 5D-Mark II.
I was using the batteries in a BG-E6 Battery Grip.
I shot around 1200 pictures (simultaneous large JPG and RAW) mostly at the the rated ~4 frames per second before I recharged both batteries. And according to the 5D battery status check I still had about 300 shots left. The 5D Mark II batteries are about twice as much as the older BP-511A series I use in my 20D and 40D but they are worth the price.

I have to say, I'm liking these new lp-e6 batteries in the new crop of Canon bodies over the bp511, but the pricing on the batteries is well.... typical Canon. It's an overpriced product, though I succumbed to the pricing over 3rd party batteries due to reports of the battery getting stuck in cheaper versions. That being said, These new batteries are fantastic, hold one heckuva charge and I would recommend them. The product does lose 2 stars due to excessive cost (in my opinion).

I have used it couple of times now and it works perfectly fine. It is original Canon battery so it works great with my 7D. B&H price was the cheapest at the time I was buying it. I wish it recharge faster.

This is an alternate battery for the new camera purchased. It functions as well as the one that came with the camera, it's just a battery, after all.

Shot a wedding with my 5DM3 and got about 750 photos. And still had about a 1/4 tank left. Recharge time seems quick too.

Comments about Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1800mAh):
When you shoot celebrities as I do, there is no time for equipment failure. I purchased this battery as a back up prior to a long shoot with Tom Cruise for his recent role in the latest Mission Impossible instalment. Everything went smoothly and I had enough power left in the battery after the shoot to snap a few of Tom and I. Great product.

When it comes to batteries or grips, I prefer to use Canon vs off brand. They just seem to hold a charge longer and have a longer life.
Worth the extra dough.

Comments about Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1800mAh):
Right now this is a spare battery for my 5D Mark III, when the battery grip arrives (still on backorder) it will allow me to run two batteries simultaneously in the camera. It is only a week old, but so far performs exactly like the battery that came with the camera, as it should. If you have a 5D Mark III, check the menu for Battery Info in the wrench menus. You can not only see the percentage of the battery remaining, but also the numbrer of shots taken and the recharge performance. You can also register the battery information for reference.

This is the original OEM battery for the Sony Nex camera. I'm only rating it 4 stars because I wish it would last longer, but with 2, I never have a real issue.

There's nothing like buying ORIGINAL batteries from B&H. We have tried the aftermarket batteries for the Canon 7D and were greatly disappointed!
Canon batteries are manufactured to the highest quality and do not disappoint!
You'll wind up going back to the originals, so don't waste your money on the aftermarket batteries that fail when you need them the most!

Comments about Canon LP-E6 Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery Pack (7.2V, 1800mAh):
Usually I'm shooting outdoors my family, friends and nature.
Earlier I tried to use AA batteries in the battery grip for my Canon EOS7D. The capacity was enough for me,but one day we went with my friend by car to enjoy the forest near our city. I didn't have any chance to check my AA batteries. Just after a couple of minutes the camera showed "battery empty".
I was very disappointed, so next time I put LP-E6, that came with the camera and it never failed. Every time I can check the capacity of my battery and be sure I have enough energy for shooting pictures and taking video.
Thanks Canon for great product!

I tried other 3rd party batteries on different cameras. If you are willing to pay a few thousand dollars for your camera, don't skim on the batteries, you won't regret it. B&H is excellent in shipping their merchanise to Canada, my experience so far has never been more than five days through Purolator.
