The HonlPhoto 8" Speed Snoot/Reflector is part of the Honl Speed System, which allows you to add a line of different light modifiers to your flash unit. This 8" long Speed Snoot/Reflector attaches to the Speed Strap (offered separately), and can be used either as a snoot or a reflector.
Used as a reflector, this flash accessory can be used to bounce and scatter the light output of a flash unit, to provide a more pleasing and even exposure. Shaped as a snoot, it will concentrate the light output from the flash into a much tighter beam, producing a dramatic cinematic lighting effect.

As a bounce/fill card it's decent, but harsher than I expected it to be. only other gripe is that the attaching velcro is mainly in tiny strips, which does not allow much room for adjustment, especially if attaching to existing velcro on your flash.

The idea here is a good one: A semi-stiff bounce card with lots of velcro so that it can be used as a snoot or whatever else you can bend into submission to do. However, this item is a bit too flimsy. Once bent or folded, it doesn't want to return to it's previous state. It stays wrinkled and bent. Which, if it has been folded up in your bag, can make deploying it as a snoot not terribly effective because the creases don't flatten out, and get in the way. It needs something semi stiff stitched into it, like some kind of heavy, soft plastic. I'm going to open mine up and add a layer of something to keep it laying flat and wrinkle-free.

Great Product. Durable and well made. Does not fit Speed lights without the Speed Strap. You could make one but the one made by Honl Photo works best and does not slip.

Comments about Honl Photo 8" Speed Snoot/Reflector for Speed System:
This product is very well built. Another advantage is that it can fit almost any speedlight existing. The beam of light is of nice quality and you don't loose light at all. The narrow beam that it produce is very nice. Perfect for the strobist in you.

This is vey well made and does a great job as both a reflective bounce and as a snoot. The fact that is rolls up and is portable gives is enough for me to get that over the standard hard plastic snoot. Like Honl's other products, this is very well made, but does require the purchase of a Speedstrap to attach it to the flash. I already have a bunch of his other products so I have Speedstraps, but if this is your first Honl, don't forget to add one of those to the cart as well (except for the Traveler8 softbox which comes with a strap).

Great product. Great quality of light. Worth every cent paid for it. It's very durable and works well on my 580EX. Don't crumple it up and stuff it in your bag, or it will lose it's shape. I fold it along one of it's normal creases that it has when on the flash. No problems with it losing it's shape. When used as a snoot, with the flash zoomed, it is like a laser beam of light. Great for hitting a certain mark on a product or a person's face.

as a snoot it works great. concentrated light in a certain area! as a reflector, not so good. a 3x5 index card and rubberband is better. it will not stay up and in position without folding over when used as a reflector. the 5in version is probably better for that. overall, as a snoot it is excellent. so far that is about all i am using it for due to the fact it wont stay up as reflector, but oh well. thats why we have bounce capable heads anyway.

I gave this 4 stars, but in my mind is more like 3. Don't get me wrong, it gets the job done, but it is somewhat deceiving as to the product description. It is extremely flimsy attached to the flash when using as a bounce. You need to figure out a fold and velcro format just right in order to get it to hold steady. Don't try flipping the camera horizontal to vertical with it on or it may flap off. Same goes with the snoot. When aligned perfectly, it works great. But the trick is getting the snoot to align perfectly to force the light. If you don't get it right you end up with a hard shadow cutting out the light in your image. Takes some trial and error. Bottom line, works great when its on. Not so much when its not. Would've been happier with the purchase if the price was about $20 less. That combined with the strap that you must buy separately.[...]

You need to use an elastic band to keep the thing on snug, or purchase an additional velcro strap for 10 dollars... Seriously? Paying [$] was not enough to get the velcro? Nice bounce light, exactly what i needed. I use this with my Canon 580EXii's

I've heard a lot of photographers complain about the prices of Honl stuff, but I'm a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for'. Yeah, this guy is about $30, but you'll probably never have to replace it. Quality manufacturing and material. Would definitely buy it again in a heartbeat, and actually probably will pick up more to use on multiple Speedlites at once. Not much to say about how it functions. It's a basic snoot/reflector and works as it should. The only con for me, is that I think it should include the Speed Strap so you can attach it to your Speedlite without having to buy something separately.

I'm a professional on location photographer based in Malaysia and always use speedlite when shooting. Im trying all sorts of product before, but this is the best. It's cheap yet lightweight and the build quality is the best. Buy it and you'll never regret it. I use 'em all the time..

Used as a snoot - wrapped around your strobe - it focuses a beam of light much tighter than any zooming will get you. No more than a few inches of light gets out of this so you won't have to worry about light spillage. The velcro holds tight on all ends.
Used as a reflector, the silver gives off a nice shimmering bounce. You have to scrunch the sides a bit, but that'll add the stability to help hold up the reflector.
You can also use this as a flag to keep light from spilling on one or more sides, but not necessarily all 4.
The size and weight of this unit allows you to bring it on every shoot just in case. Trifold it with no worries of it breaking, it's very flexible. Any creases which might form are not to be worried about as it's just reflecting light. I've used this on a few shoots now and I'm confident it'll stay with me for years (unless I lose it!).
