The Nikon DK-17M magnifying eyepiece works like expected. It's typical Nikon quality. Zero complaints.

This eyepiece is a big upgrade over the standard FX eyepiece and offers much better precision when manual focusing.

added to a D700,this item helps the focus.I don't mind the lesser field of view.I tried adding the rubber eyepiece but that did not work for me,I wear glasses and that put my eye too far back to be able to use both.

What a delight. If you use mf lenses this is a must have. There. Now order it here. B&H is the least expensive anywhere. I recommend this for normal or tele lenses - ultrawides beware!!

Use on an F3HP provides and a noticeable and useful degree of magnification for easier manual focus with full corner to corner viewing for a non-eyeglass users. Recommended

Slapped this on my D700's and it greatly helps me make sure I have critical focus for small macro-like detail shots and on a subject's eyes.

I use this eye piece 100% of the time. Another words - installed and left it on my D700 forever.
Combined with DK-19 is something that should've come standard with any full frame body.

Get's me closer to my subject, whether it's something small or big and panoramic. Helps with focusing a bit, and most importantly makes shooting easy on the eye.

One more important feature is simply length of the "pipe". It makes looking through the viewfinder more natural positioned and not face-slammed against the LCD and buttons.

Cons. It's feels like it's hard to tighten it on, but it's actually on.

for this product, one sentence review is enough. once you put it on, you will never take it off. fits my D700 and F90X.

note: i am wearing eye glasses. there is indeed dark corners in the viewfinder for me, but doens't affect too much.

Makes manual focusing easier. Is a serious alternative to replacement focusing screens all of which seem to be a nuisance for spot metering because of falsifying exposure readings (at least with older lenses). For wearers of glasses the concomitant use of the rubber eyecup DK-19 is highly recommended. On the D700 there is no problem with seeing the whole image and the display in the viewfinder.

I wear glasses and cannot always get a good view through the eyepiece.

This magnifier helps. It is easier for me to use this magnifying eyepiece and put the glasses aside out of the way.

You where thinking that the viwefinder of your D700 is big enough? Well, try it with the DK-17 on, and enjoy the view. You will never take it off!

The eye-piece mangifier works fine and I am able to see the whole viewfinder screen while wearing glasses. However, its magnification of the image was not as great as I expected. Despite this I use it all the time and it does help focussing manually.

Performs as expected by providing a magnified view. Best used in a controlled setting and with a static subject. The in-camera indicators tend to drop below the field of view requiring one to adjust eye position to see. I'll be using this for fine focus, table top macro work.

Manual focus is significantly easier with this eyepiece. I recently added an 85 1.4 lens to my kit and the DK-17M makes a big difference in precise focusing. Having to move your head a little bit from side to side to take in the edges of the scene is a minor nuisance and worth the trade off in my opinion. I was pleasantly surprised to find it was twice the weight I expected, it's not a cheap plastic lens, but metal and glass and feels it. In other words, you won't feel taken advantage of for spending this much money on a toyish accessory, it's a professional investment. One con, it does project approximately 4mm further than the stock eyepiece so how you pack your camera may need to be readdressed to minimize damage to the new slight projection. And for god's sake, don't forget to close the eyepiece shutter to unlock the eyepiece mount before damaging your camera using brute force and stupidity when replacing it.

Great relieve for my eyes which are poor in term of refocusing.

Poor:
The four corners are block when looking straight into the view finder. Need to peek around to see the corners.

Works well on D700, but unlike reviewer matthew suggested, it does not work on APS-C DX crop bodies via the DK-22 circular eyepiece adapter. The two eyepiece diameters are entirely different and won't work together.

Improves the size of the image in he vf, but it does decrease sharpness and clarity slightly, especially in the corners. So, there is an improvement, but it is not without any drawbacks as some have suggested. Still, I think it's an improvement overall.

I use this on my D700 to assist with manual focusing of my collection of manual focus lenses ranging from f/1.8 to 3.5, and focal lengths from 24 to 150mm. It definitely helps with all of them but I'll still refer to the green dot.

The magnification is modest at 1.2X. I wear glasses and it's pretty easy to see the displays below the screen (some movement is required). I can't see the screen corners through it. I'd get it again if I lost it (which I don't expect, it locks into place). READ THE INSTRUCTIONS before you remove the old eyepiece. You must close the eyepiece blind.

Magnification helps, only block the view of the settings in the viewfinder slightly, you get used to it. I'm using it on a D300s with the eyepiece adaptor

Originally looked into this as my eyes aren't as good as they used to be.

It was a breeze to install & works great. You will likely have to look around into all 4 corners of the viewfinder when using this eyepiece, but this becomes second nature very quickly (at least it did for me). Other than that, images are crisp and easy to accurately focus, so photos come out sharper as a result.
