This powerful super-telephoto zoom lens has a large-aperture (fixed F stop type) and is is equivalent to 180-500mm focal lenth on a 35mm camera. Only fixed focal super-telephoto lens could have provided wide-open f/2.8 shots in the past, however, this lens provides f/2.8 shots through the entire zoom range making it a best choice for the nature and sports photographer. Three ED lenses are used to give the highest image quality with optimal resolution and contrast.

Comments about Olympus 90-250mm f/2.8 ED Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens:
I use this for wildlife photos and had a great grizzly bear shoot here in B.C., Canada. Extremely sharp, great color, bokeh, and contrast. I shoot it wide open on my E3 and now my E5.
I always use a monopod
It is the lightest pro lens out there.
I've been a Canon shooter for a few years and it's a great system but I just don't use it anymore. I may sell my 5D system since the results of my Oly system are so good.
Remember it's always about the glass.

Comments about Olympus 90-250mm f/2.8 ED Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens:
Tried using it in low light for a figure skating competition.
In terms of speed and sharpness, both the 35-100mm and the 300mm are better. Not even close. Save your money and get the 35-100mm and use the 1.4x converter or save up for the 300mm.

Comments about Olympus 90-250mm f/2.8 ED Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens:
I purchased this lens shortly before a trip to Hawaii. It is very large and requires its own carrying bag. It is heavy so a tripod is almost a must; I have occasionally used it freehand but more often with a tripod or monopod. It provides outstanding sharp photos at long distances; with the f2.8 stopping action (surfers; shore objects from a ship a mile or two off shore). I have used it at sporting events and have even used it for some astronomy work (great for the moon). It was perfect for several graduations. I generally use it with my E3 body, which makes the whole system very weather resistant; I have also used it with my older Evolt 500 body with equally impressive results.

Comments about Olympus 90-250mm f/2.8 ED Zuiko Digital Zoom Lens:
I USED IT ON AN OLYMPUS STAGE IN BERGAMO (PADANIA). IT'S UNBELIVABLE. A BIT HEAVY BUT INCREDIBLY SHARP FOR A 180-500MM (135MM). GOOD SATURATION AND BALANCE. FAST FOCUS EVEN IN LOW LIGHT (WITH E3) AND IN VERTICAL POSITION
I REALLY COULDN'T FIND SOMETHING BAD EXCEPT FOR THE WEIGHT.
