This Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 Fisheye Lens is suitable for both artistic and technical photography. Extreme-wide angle lenses are pleasingly distorted in a hemispherical projection, resulting in an image that looks like the eye of a fish. This is a diagonal fisheye lens for APS-C sensor cameras; it does not produce a circular image.

Comments about Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 Series 1 Fisheye Manual Focus Lens for Nikon F Mount:
I use the fisheye lens to take disordered photos. Since I have a 180 degree lens I love to take close ups of people's faces, floors, and buildings. I go to N.Y.C. so I go there all the time and always bring my camera and my attachable lens. I love the fisheye lens because it is unlike any other lens. The lens disorders the photo making the picture look edited, but it's not. The lens is magical... Things that aren't so great about the lens... As much as I love the lens, there cannot be a filter due to the outward shape of the glass. Therefore, I am especially careful with the lens. Also, the lens is fixed and it has to be put on manual. Sadly, the lens works best during bright days so I don't have to slow down the shutter speed. I do have a tripod on the bright side to take light enough photos at night.

Comments about Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 Series 1 Fisheye Manual Focus Lens for Nikon F Mount:
I just love this lens; this is the second time that I bought this lens, because a friend of mine like it some much that I have to sell them the lens. I use it with my 35mm adapter and directly in my HVR-Z7 whit an 1/3 to nikon adapter; is a clear lens whit less distortion for the size; a normal 7mm have a very strong distortion on the edge, but this one work very well in that. Is a little slow (f3.5) but for a wide lens is very nice. I just love it. Sorry for the english[...]

After a few days has been corrupted focus ring,It was not a big problem, and so everything is sharp from one foot to infinity. But the next day fell aperture ring and it was the end !!!!!I do not recommend this lens, it is better to invest in something that can be called a lens.I have a manual glass about 20 yers old still works without a problem made in DDR!!!!!!!!!
I voted one star, can not be less. For me, minus 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 Series 1 Fisheye Manual Focus Lens for Nikon F Mount:
The Vivitar fish eye I purchased has been amazing. A photo I shot with the lens in the first four hours of recieving it recently made its way into a magazine, this being my first ever published photo. If you are planning on purchasing a fish eye go with a Vivitar. Just check your cameras specs and make sure it will cover the full frame of your image sensor (mine being a DX sensor) and enjoy the world from 7mm.[...]

Comments about Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 Series 1 Fisheye Manual Focus Lens for Nikon F Mount:
If you don't have the money to spend on higher end lenses, this lens will not disappoint you. As some reviews online point out, it's not as sharp as it's more expensive counterparts, but it's something you'll only notice when you really zoom into the picture.
Before getting the lens I asked someone on flickr about it and he said the lens was "crazy wide", I only truly understood that when I got my lens. I'm very happy with this lens, it's lots of fun.
Keep in mind this lens is manual, you'll have to dial in everything (aperture, ISO, exposure time, focus) for every pic.

Comments about Vivitar 7mm f/3.5 Series 1 Fisheye Manual Focus Lens for Nikon F Mount:
I bought this lens for wide, outdoor shots, and of course just artistic shots in general - it's a 'fun' lens.
The lens seems to be solid, the focus and aperture rings turn smoothly. Comes with caps on both ends, and a handy little bag to store it in. The front lens cap locks in place, and seems to be quite functional. It seemed a bit snug in the mount compared to some of my other lenses, but I don't think it's reason for concern.
Image quality is quite impressive - no CA to speak of, distortion is minimal, color is fantastic. Of course, it's a fisheye, so lots of barrel distortion - but that's why you buy fisheyes, right? FOV is very wide - maybe 180 from corner to corner, but not from side to side. Also, the image covers the full frame on a DX sensor.
Only down side is there are no electronics in the lens - on some cameras (like mine), this means no metering. However, if you are comfortable with a full manual lens, this is a bargain.
