This remote works perfectly. I attach it with velcro to the back of the shoulder brace of my Cavision rails system, and that piece folds up when I'm on a tripod so I can see it easily.
The only negative thing about the Zoom H4N is that there are no knobs for adjusting gain. You have to first press either the Channel 1 or Channel 2 button, then adjust gain up or down as needed. If you go back to adjust again, it asks you again which channel. With the remote, once you press a channel, it stays on that one until you change it. So you can press Channel 1, adjust gain up, then adjust it down later without pressing the channel button again. Sounds like a small thing but when shooting sync it can be a pain.
All controls of the remote work as they should. I wish there was a better attachment method...maybe a hook to hang it from the tripod or something like that. They give you an extension cable, so you can run it down the boom as well if you have a soundman who'd got the recorder mounted on his fishpole.

Best to be used when touching noises on the recorder have to be avoided, i.e. touching buttons, holding the recorder etc. But honestly I expected a wireless remote control. The cable is fragile and the remote control itself does not give a good impression with its flimsy foil push buttons.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
It will probably hold up fine, but at first seems to be of fragile build. It could us heavier wiring with some reinforcement of wire to body join. It is, however, a nice compact design, and so far, I am very happy with it.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
With the RC4 remote now I can stop and start audio recordings on my Zoom H4N without having to press the buttons on the recorder. The LED on the remote even indicates that it is recording. This is very helpful since the H4N is normally mounted on top of my camera and viewing it's screen is often difficult. Now, I simply hit record on the RC4 the same time that I hit record on my camera and with the LED's in plain sight, I never miss getting my audio clips.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
The H4n Remote is an excellent accessory if you are trying to produce CD quality results. It virtually eliminates key click noises associated with and resulting from using the on-board mics. The built-in H4n mics are extremely sensitive (proportionately so as higher mic level settings are used) and respond to any vibrations coming from touching the unit (i.e. adjusting Record or Volume levels). Make sure that you keep the remote cable itself from rubbing against or bumping the H4n or mic stand (if using one) while recording as that will also cause undesirable noise. I therefore tape the cable to the mic stand to preclude bumps. If a few extraneous noises are not an issue, then this is definitely not a problem.

Control the H4n without ever touching the recorder. During video interviews I can start and stop the recorder from the camera position. No handling noise. Small and light weight.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
Not much to the remote, but how much could one expect? That said, it does what it's supposed to do... keep your fingers off the Zoom keys during live level tweaking. Before the remote, I would tweak and, no matter how gentle, I would get clunks and bumps on my audio track. With the remote: no more clunks and bumps. If you have the Zoom H4n, get this. Period.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
A very nice addition to have for my H4n. I took it out of the box and was using it for a project that night. It was really great to be able to make adjustments as needed without having to touch the Zoom itself even if the recorder is right next to me. The ample amount of cable that comes with it will be great for some upcoming shoots if I put the Zoom on a boom or need to use it in a location that is away from the camera. It would be nice to have some button feedback but I am already use to the feel of it and it's not that big of a deal. It has become a must-have for my recordings.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
The buttons are soft touch with no "click" or "feedback' to feel when hitting the functions so you are not sure if you're hitting them but none the less, I like this remote.
I got this with the H4n to mount to the battery pack of my Canon Vixia HF-S100 as the H4n is mounted with screen facing the sky. With the remote mounted to the battery pack, I can see if I'm clipping by glancing at the on board LED lights and quickly make adjustments.
The cable is quite thin which has me guessing how long it will last.
The cable is quite long at 6 foot...almost overly long since they also include an extension cable with the H4n.
Overall, it's a good product and almost a must have for some setups.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
I use the Zoom H4n for second system audio for my DSLR video shoots, and this remote really makes getting the audio much more convenient.
I like how it comes with 6 feet of cable PLUS a 10 foot extension cable. This means I don't have to have all 16 feet cluttering up the space when I have the Zoom working right on or beside my camera. But when I am using the recorder as a boom mic, or set up at any distance, the extension gives me more flexibility.
The remote is simple, giving you control over the basics. I personally would be willing to pay more for a remote that included some sort of lcd screen so I can see the record levels without having to walk over to see the actual Zoom. But for the price, this is great. While is it simple, it does include a red light which flashes to tell you that recording is ready to go... and stays solid when actually recording, so you never have to guess if you're recording or not.
It also has a green light to indicate which set up mics you are now controlling, the built in ones or external ones you've plugged into the unit.
Well worth the money.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
We're much more into video at my company, and that requires quality sound. It also requires ambient sound for editing, like sounds hear in a factory, or outside at an airport. Without a remote you have to edit all the scratchy sounds associated with starting the recorder and stopping, but this avoids that and saves editing time.

Comments about Zoom RC4 Remote Control for H4n:
You need it.
Makes it so you don't pick up that cruddy button sound on the H4N itself, which means less editing and more quick action recording.
Buy this with the H4N in a kit and basically get a free 8gb SD card, well worth the value.

I bought the remote to control the H4N so I could control the unit without touching the unit itself. It's easy to use and fits perfectly in the camera bag without getting in the way of other equipment.

Doing my own video and audio, this comes in handy to run the H4n from a distance. It would be great if it had more feedback (digital read out like on the H4n unit) but then it would get pricey. They do supply a long extension cable which helps a lot.
