The Samsung 1TB Spinpoint M8 2.5" Internal Hard Drive is designed for use in mobile applications (laptops, music players), and features a SATA 3.0 Gbps interface, 8 MB cache, and 5400 RPM rotational speed. It can transfer data at speeds up to 300 MBps (buffer to/from host Max.) and 145 MB/s (media to/from buffer maximum). In addition, the hard drive features a 12 ms Average Seek Time, 5.6 ms Average Latency, and Drive Ready Time of 4 sec.
ATA Security Mode Feature Set protects the hard drive from illegal access and prevents creation of unauthorized set of passwords by virus or malware. SATA Native Command Queuing reschedules and reorders commands for improved drive efficiency.
The Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology (S.M.A.R.T.) detects and reports hard drive failure. The Load/Unload technology lifts the drive head off the platters to a safe location, thus eliminating the risks of wear and stiction (static friction). Featured EcoSeek Technology helps reduce power consumption.
SilentSeek technology incorporates a sinusoidal seek trajectory to minimize seek acoustic noise, thereby allowing for quiet drive operation. In addition, the NoiseGuard technology helps in reducing overall acoustic noise levels, especially those that humans are most sensitive to.
