The SB-SF150 Photoflex StarFlash 150 Watt/Second Monolight is suitable for the professional as well as the aspiring photographer. The StarFlash uses a high-quality German flash tube. The modeling light can be set at full brightness or proportional to the flash tube light output.
This strobe can be used with a reflector, umbrella, or softbox. The included Tilt Swivel Mount is secure and allows for a tilt range of 170°. The Tilt Swivel can be repositioned on the StarFlash to compensate for weight imbalance when using larger soft boxes. This monolight can be fired with the included mono to PC sync cord, or via its optical slave, from another flash.
This is a Photogenic 45" Umbrella with Removable Black Cover. This size is suitable for a two - three person head and shoulders portrait.
Umbrellas soften, broaden, and diminish the light output of any tungsten or flash light source. Umbrellas with a white interior soften and weaken light more than an umbrella with a silver lining. A white umbrella without a black backing may also be used as a makeshift softbox, although the use of the light will not be as efficient as with a lightbox.
Choosing umbrella size is determined by the size of the subject, and the strength of the light supply being used. Choosing an umbrella surface is as subjective as choosing a paint and brush.
The SB-SF6UR Photoflex 6" StarFlash Umbrella Reflector attaches to the front of the monolight quickly and easily. Its pebbled aluminum interior intensifies and smooths the light emitted from any of the StarFlash series fixtures. It is designed to use with umbrellas. The reflector directs all the strobe light output into the umbrella. The 6" diameter is small enough to prevent blocking of reflected light from the umbrella.
