The CapturePRO Camera Clip from Peak Design is a camera holstering system that securely holds your camera without the traditional camera strap. The system is made up of a clip and a DUALplate quick release plate, which together can support up to 200 lb. The quick release plate is compatible with all Arca-type clamps and Manfrotto RC2 quick release adapters. The clip can attach to any backpack strap, bag or belt less than 3" wide. It is ideal for photographers who need their hands free and also need instant access to their camera. The CapturePRO can also be mounted directly to a tripod or monopod and be used as a quick release clamp.

To use the system, attach the quick release plate to your camera, clamp the clip around a strap or belt and secure in place by tightening the two hand-tightened bolts. Your camera slides into the clip, locks in place, and will not detach until you push the quick release button to release it from the clip.

The CapturePRO comes with a 4mm hex wrench for securely installing your plate on the camera, and a microfiber pouch for storing your clip when it is not in use.

A safety lock can be activated by turning the release button, preventing accidental release and theft.
Loops on the quick release plate allow you to use a hand strap and CapturePRO together.
The quick release plate features a load-bearing D-ring screw that is compatible with sling-style straps.
Injection-molded rubber pads on the quick release plates mold to the bottom of your camera and prevent your camera from twisting during use.
A plate locking-knob tightens down onto the plate for extra rigidity and for point-of-view video.
Your camera can lock into the CapturePRO in multiple directions allowing you to easily change lenses.
All parts are made of corrosion resistant and weatherproof materials.

I purchased this for the idea of finally hiking with my Canon 60D. I got the CapturePro a few days before my last hike and immediately got it setup on my shoulder strap.

Installation was a snap once I got the screws out enough to fit my strap. Even though my straps are a bit think the standard screws were long enough to grab and get tightened down nicely.

The release is solid, smooth and easy to unmount and mount my camera. I did have a few issues mounting the camera but that was more me than the CapturePro. Once I found the rhythm it was easy enough to use.

The CapturePro worked perfectly on my 6.5 hour, 8 mile hike up Old Rag Mountain in VA. It kept my camera easily in reach so I could release, grab a shot, secure and continue on without any delay. It also kept the camera in a great spot so that I knew exactly where it was anytime and I could navigate the rock scramble without worry of banging my gear around.

The dual-plate works perfectly on my Manfrotto or MeFoto tripods too. I like the rubber base on the plate as it grips the camera to the plate securely. There is no movement at all between the two pieces when screwed on well.

I also tried the unit on my belt afterwards. I like how it keeps my camera out of the way and makes it quickly accessible. It takes a bit to find the sweet spot on your belt that works for you, but it wasn't a big deal to do.

The only suggestion I would have it a slightly larger metal loop on the plate screw so I can fit my BlackRapid strap hook into it a bit easier if I am using that. It fits, it's just a little small to get connected and disconnected quickly. I tried using the BlackRapid plate screw on this plate and it didn't seem to work well. I plan on trying it again though.

Great product that I will be using a lot.

I owned Version 1 of this device, and the tightening knobs were star shaped and finger killers. That they've improved. Another issue I had with it was it was not comfortable for carrying a full size DSLR (meaning a 5DIII), and especially not suited for a gripped body or a 1 Series Canon. Same would be true for Nikon or any other similarly sized camera.

With this Version 2 they've come out with the propad which helps a good deal, but the clip is still not a great solution for larger size bodies. It does not instill confidence. The plate that attaches to the camera is somewhat flimsy. I've tried it once since purchasing it and it not sits on my desk. The way it comes packaged, it is almost impossible to not ruin or slightly tear the package, making return difficult. I'll probably just sell it on a camera form. While the idea of it is good, the execution just isn't. Please note I'm speaking of full size camera bodies. For smaller cameras it might work very well. I much prefer the Spyder system or Optech quick release straps attached to the rings of a backpack.

Comments about Peak Design CapturePRO Camera Clip with DUALplate:

Incredibly well thought product. It's a bit pricy but well worth the money. Keep in mind that with dual plate the camera slides in to clasp only two ways but it's 4-way with ARCAplate.

Having had harnesses fail, resulting in dropped but fortunately unbroken camera gear, the CapturePRO Camera Clip is a great option. Locks on tightly to a wide range of straps, belts, clothing, etc., this clamp is a must-have for any active photographer.

I do a lot of hiking and was looking for a way to stabilize the camera, while keeping it handy at the same time. This is a perfect solution. Works exactly as I had hoped. I have the clip on the hiking pack and not once did I feel like the camera would come loose. Great product.

Comments about Peak Design CapturePRO Camera Clip with DUALplate:

This product caught my eye when I was browsing at the B&H store. I was looking to buy a BlackRapid-style sling, but this seemed like a better, less intrusive choice for me. I like that I can walk around with a decent size camera hands-free, without having a big sling or strap all over me.

The release mechanism works very well, and the build quality seems strong and reliable.

Comments about Peak Design CapturePRO Camera Clip with DUALplate:

The CapturePRO Camera Clip is the kind of accessory that finds its place in your work style right away and does a good job of it. I was immediately surprised at the number of times I needed to have my hands free and I could do that without putting the camera down.

The DUALplate works with my Manfrotto quick release very well. I had to mount it at a 90 degree angle to the way I normally mount the camera on my tripod, but that proved to be only a minor inconvenience.

Love this thing, and I anticipate using it frequently.

This is a great piece of gear and qualifies as a MUST-HAVE for landscape/action photographers! I am notoriously hard on cameras, and the Camera Clip proved itself multiple times in the first day of use. It leaves my hands free to climb over rocks and down banks to get the right shot.
I wish there was a way to slide the plate in from front AND back, but other than that the Camera Plate rocks!
                        Thanks B&H and Peak Design!

Comments about Peak Design CapturePRO Camera Clip with DUALplate:

I have mixed feelings about this product after using it for about 6 months. The problem I have is with the plate that attaches to your camera not the Capture Pro itself. The Capture Pro is great while walking around or some other low impact activity, but if you plan on maintaining vigorous activity while carrying a DSLR think again. The Plate while great at clipping into the capture pro and keeping your hands free, it really preforms quite bad as a device suited to mounting on a tripod. It never stays tight and spins and gets loose and spins and gets loose again. I didn't spend $1,000 on a tripod for this plate to compromise my steady shot! I want to use it but I can because a lot of my work involves a tripod for landscapes and such. I now own a Markins L-Plate and wish it could clip it into my Capture Pro.

Comments about Peak Design CapturePRO Camera Clip with DUALplate:

I haven't used this in the field yet, but I've played with it in different arrangements at home and the clip is clearly very well made. It operates smoothly and I expect it to last for a long time. The only problem I've been having (and this may be user error) is that the black plate lock knob that locks the plate so you can't accidentally release it doesn't always go all the way in and lock the plate. It puts pressure on the plate but seems to get hung up and doesn't move far enough to truly secure the plate. The red quick release lock works fine though, and it's actually a more convenient way to prevent accidental release anyway, so I'll just use that.

I am planning on buying a second one of these (or perhaps a different model) so that I can carry two cameras at once and/or have different carrying locations for a single camera.

I intend to use it on my backpack during day hikes and long treks. I was attracted to it by its simplicity and apparent easy attachment. However, I did not realize it is that small and the clamping screws are that short, that it is difficult to attach it at the most convenient position of the thick straps of my backpack. I was advised to buy a set of extra long screws. Given its intended usage, I think the designer should have thought of the thickness of the straps of most backpack and provided the long screws as part of the kit. And given its price, I expect it to be better than it is now.

This little gadget is just like advertised. It works and works well. Small compact and smooth. This is one of those gadgets that will not sit in my bag. The best part is the dual plate, it works I'm my manfrotto tripods and my joby tripod as well as this clip. Well made and will last a long time. The only downside as with any photo gear, it is over priced for what you get. I am happy with my purchase!

This has been a great piece of gear. I often travel and no matter what my trip is, I always have my camera. This thing is convenient and works well with any position.

It takes a little bit of extra time to mount the base your belt or bag pack strap, but it's worth it when you realize it's not going anywhere.

The locking knobs feel secure, but are made out of plastic. I doubt they will give at all, but the nervous part of me keeps checking to make sure the camera doesn't slide out of the base and break $4500 of gear. I think it's good, though.

Comments about Peak Design CapturePRO Camera Clip with DUALplate:
