The Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens is a prime wide-angle lens that provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length of 35mm, making it a suitable lens for everyday shooting. This all-around lens is further benefitted by the fast f/1.4 maximum aperture, which is especially useful in low-light conditions and for creating shallow depth of field and selective focus imagery. Also aiding in manual focus control are engraved camera-to-subject and depth of field scales on the barrel that help with setting the hyperfocal distance and pre-focusing techniques.

In regard to auto focusing performance, an internal focusing mechanism is used and revolves around one group of three cemented elements and one aspherical element that maintains high optical clarity while also minimizing overall weight. This group is driven by a high-torque DC coreless motor for high-speed performance that is equally quiet and smooth to benefit an array of shooting applications.

The one aspherical element also works to minimize chromatic aberrations and produce high image sharpness that is further enhanced by the multi-layer High Transmittance Electron Beam Coating (HT-EBC). This coating works to protect the front lens surface as well as reduce lens flare and ghosting in order to provide more contrast-rich imagery.

Wide-angle 23mm lens provides a 35mm-equivalent field of view of 35mm, making it suitable for everyday applications.
Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture is ideally-suited for low-light conditions and for greater control over selective focus and shallow depth of field imagery.
Printed camera-to-subject and depth of field scales benefit manual focus control for setting the hyperfocal distance and for pre-focusing.
Close-up focusing control permits a minimum focusing distance of 11", or when working in normal position, a minimum focusing distance of 2' is possible.
Metal focusing and aperture rings provide an enhanced feel during use and contribute to greater durability.
Internal focusing mechanism employs one group consisting of three cemented elements and one aspherical element to lessen the overall weight and maintain the lens' length.
High-torque DC coreless AF motor provides quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance.
One aspherical element and an HT-EBC coating contribute to high image quality with reduced flare and ghosting.
Seven-blade rounded diaphragm produces an aesthetic out-of-focus quality.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

High quality prime which integrates superbly with XT-1. Perfect focal length for all kinds of shooting. I love the f-stop ring and then the ability to set it simply to automatic. Yeah, the ring moves easily, but if you like me shoot in aperture priority mode primarily, you are always paying attention to it anyway.

A tad heavy, but just a tad. Heft and solid build provides nice balance for framing purposes. Silky smooth manual focusing. Experiencing some hunting on auto-focus but that may be my learning curve as we get to know each other.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

This is my focal length. Every photographer have one and my eye see in 23mm. I use a X100 for 3 years and I decide to move to the X-Pro1 unhappy with the X-E1 and take this lens on my move. After 3 shoot I was impress by the build of the lens and it optic. And the week after I realize how heavy this lens is, it's near the size and weigth of the X-Pro1 so I can not be impress but it ergonomy of use. The X100 fit in a pocket, nobody notice you take picture in the street and weigth less than this lens with 4 spare battery.

But after shooting more with it I felt for this lens. It make such nice picture. I shoot most of the time at f1.4, bokeh are similar between f1.4 and f2 but you have more light. And image are sharp and constrasted. I do not see any chromatic aberation but I shoot in jpeg (yeah I don't like post processing picture) so maybe the jpeg converter remove it.

I own nikon prime 35mm f2 D, 20mm F2.8 D, 50mm F1.4D and G and 105mm f2.8 D macro. With all this lens I always step down 1+ stop auperture to have better quality image on full frame (it's worst on DX camera) and I don't have this lack of sharpness with this 23mm lens. Is better than the X100 lens. It's contrast/bokeh wide open remember me my Nikon 35-70 F2.8 D at 35mm on my D700 (another great lens).

Also manuel focusing is smooth. Now with firmware update and the X-Pro1 I do not have problem automatic focusing on moving children. I would like beeing able to focus near.

So far I'm really impress. This lens is heavy but by far the better prime I ever use. I have hight expectation for the fujifilm 14mm and the 35mm !

This lens arrived and I was very pleased with the initial feel of the lens ...and using it is magic ..love the quality of the images .....the only flaw is that the aperture ring floats around on its own which can spoil a shot if your not really on the ball.....How difficult would it have been to do it right in manufacture? So only 4 stars for a 5 star lens.....silly isn't it

May well be the best lens of the Fuji line-up!

In trying to decide what prime to buy with my Fuji X-T1, I went through my lightroom to see what focal length I used most on a 16-50 zoom, and 23 fit the bill the best. I am very happy with this lens. Solid build and love the compact x-mount form factor. Not real light, but feels "just right" on the X-T1

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

It's rather big and heavy, but that's a small price to pay for this jewel. Speaking of pay, yeah, it is pricey. But, it's worth it. Check out any really sharp, f/1.4 lens for comparison. Like the other Fuji X lenses, it is a beauty. Solidly built, very sharp, and, f/1.4. I hesitated because I have the 35MM (50MM equivalent), but I'm glad I bought it. Great street or general travel lens. The really great innovation is that you pull back on the manual focus ring and you are in manual focus mode, but you also expose the distance scale which you can now line up with the depth-of-field scale. This is the old-fashioned way of checking your depth of field, and also the way you set your hyperfocal distance. Wow. What a great lens.

the only thing I don't like about it (other than the size, which I already knew about) is that when you manual focus it has to drag the motor when you turn the ring. This makes sense, as it is focus by wire, but it is feels kind of weird at first.

                        Sharp and Fast

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

The 23 F1.4 is the best lens for the X series. 35mm equivalent is ideal for street photography. This lens is sharp even wide open at the corners. The focus is quick for a mirrorless. The aperture ring is fast and easy to adjust, which makes street shooting very convenient. A little bit bulky and heavy, which makes even the XP1 body feel dwarfed in size.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

I absolutely love this lens. Loving the 35mm FOV and it is superb. There is just something about it that makes images just pop.

Mainly just been using it taking pictures of my nieces but looking forward to Spring actually getting here and getting out and getting great landscape shots with it.

I have to say that it feels great in the hands and balanced perfectly on the X-T1. Feels extremely well made, and I love that they added the Depth of Field scale on the lens. That's a nice addition coming from using m4/3. I can't really think of anything that is bad about the lens.

This is a perfect lens. For me, the 23mm is a perfect 'walk-around prime' for it's 35mm field of view. It is quite sharp wide open with minimal distortion. It is not nearly as small as the 27mm, but for quality, it's an easy compromise.

Comments about Fujifilm XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens:

i have been using DSLR since 2009. And travel with all my gear anytime i want to shoot something.
It has been a pain to carry all the stuff i have. Somethimes my backpack had become 13-15 kg weihgts. I am not a proffesional myself. I do not get paid for what i shoot for myself.
I am using DSLR at work, but it is bussiness.

So, i decided to lower the weight of my gear without lowering the image quality.

I bought fujifilm XT-1 and some lenses. And one of is this one: XF 23mm f/1.4 R Lens

Suprisingly all the lenses are great according to lenses in their league.
Body is metal like zeiss lenses, focusing ring turns nearly 180 degrees (very usefull at shooting video) and it is only 330gr weight.

i like this lens, it is great deal. do not miss this one.
