Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook Computer (Blue):

I bought this as a replacement for my 5 year old Sony Vaio Z Series. Despite the age difference, this really isn't much of an improvement. The CPU is certainly faster making modern web browsing and video playing more snappy, and the higher res screen is nice, but otherwise its mostly on par.
Looks nice, but that's not why I bought it.
The lack of a DVD drive will take some getting used to, as will using the touchscreen (because then it gets smudged...)
I'd read in advance that the space key can be squeaky and it is, though not as bad as I had feared it might be; mostly not noticeable unless you listen out for it.
The power button is where the delete key was on my old laptop so I keep accidentally turning it off! Good thing it restarts very quickly.
Not sure it's worth the price given the comparison with a 5 year old Vaio but at least it feels like it could last 5 years itself.
          Not for heavy gamers.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook Computer (Blue):

I owned five Lenovo Laptops, and they are very good business laptop, but when it comes to portable and high resolution and power as well as battery usage, then the Asus Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook. Even though it is an ultrabook, it has the power of a laptop. I like Lenovo, for they build very reliable business laptop. After getting tired of low resolution screen, I decided to try out the Asus Zenbook Ultrabook UX301LA. I bought it over 2000USD, and I think it worth every penny of it. I upgrade to Windows 8.1Pro with no problem. The screen is touchable and bright with high resolution 2560 x 1440. The battery lasts for 7-8 hours depending on the setting. I love it. This is my first Asus Ultrabook. It may not be my last.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook Computer (Blue):

Well it's a basic beauty. I received all that I expected from this investment and more! I am highly impressed with the visual details of both the screen, as well as the laptop as a whole. It's absolutely beautiful. I love the look and feel of the brilliantly made cover, and the keyboard is next-to-none. There is quite the difference from moving on from a five year old HP Pavilion. The texture of the keyboard is fabulous as well. I have yet to see any real adjustment issues due to coming from Windows 7 to Windows 8.1. The back-lit keyboard is such a small detail, but it is a great addition to look for in this laptop!

There are very minimal downsides to this beast. The first being the almost cheap-sounding fan that murmurs while carrying out your daily duties. The high resolution of the screen also supplies for a great learning curve adjusting to the tiny font, but there are ways to work around it without sacrificing the precious HD quality you paid for. The battery life also seems to be around 4.5 hours for me, which is quite the difference from the advertised 7+ (#Bummer).

This is a fantastic computer, really top of the line. It is very light and very fast. Startup from the SSD drive is almost instantaneous. The display is beautiful. The keyboard feels great, allowing for very fast touch typing. The Gorilla Glass top is very pretty but fragile (fractured when dropped from about 24 inches onto a wood floor). Gorilla glass is very scratch resistance but breaks easily.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook Computer (Blue):

I teach IT courses at a university. I purchased this machine because I wanted a high performance ultra portable laptop that would remain viable for at least three years.

The Asus Zenbook is very fast, quiet and cool. It boots Windows 8.1 in seconds. I do not use it for gaming, so I cannot comment on that application.

I particularly like the form factor, light weight and very bright screen. I did update to Windows 8.1 without any problems. Just make sure to update all the Asus drivers first, apply all Windows updates, then upgrade the OS. The dual SSDs offer sufficient capacity and excellent performance. Oh Yea, and the Gorilla Glass top is cool.

The only negative for me is the price. At about $2K you are definitely in the upper price echelon, and you could certainly argue that there are better values to be had. But if you are like me an want what you want, its a great machine.

Comments about ASUS Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T 13.3" Touchscreen Ultrabook Computer (Blue):

I travel heaps and do a lot of photography and image processing so my netbook (best I could get) was driving me crazy because it was slow and not up to image processing.
This one is magnificent. Sufficient storage at 512GB though only 455GB is available by the time they put several partitions on the disks for recovery etc. Why they had to Create separate OS and DATA drives I do not know - 190GB for OS is excessive. Of course you can store stuff there.
Graphics quality is superb. It shows up blemishes that were not noticeable on my home laptop - a Dell XPS with 15.6" screen, the colours are brilliant and viewing angles great.
Keyboard as an excellent feel. Stupid to put the power button where the Del button usually is but I have not found it a significant problem and even if you did hit it by mistake it should only send it to sleep with the default action for the button. Wake-up time is practically instantaneous and boot time quick - though there is very little reason to power it off most of the time.
Speed is good on the image processing tasks that can be slow.
Weight is the same or a bit less than my netbook so it is about as good as I am going to get for anything with 455Gb storage.
Battery lasts for about 5 hrs. I do have the brightness turned up a fair bit.
Speakers are at least as good as my Dell XPS.
All of my frustrations (lots of them) have come from Windows 8.1. You really do need to update to 8.1 to make the most of the automatic scaling of apps or some of them are tiny on the high res screen. Of course that cannot be done before you get all of the other updates for Windows 8 first. Then 8.1 is a 3.6GB download which can go on in the background.
The upgrade to Win 8.1 also forces you to create a Windows login account (which allows syncing of some configuration settings between computers). I had already created a local user which is what I wanted and the two different user profiles then became a bit of a pest requiring separate configuration of desktop and taskbar and so on. I deleted the local user account and things are working fine. It is interesting that when you look into the background of things, Windows still thinks it has a local user of that name even though logging into the account is no longer possible.
Now that I have found my way around where things have shifted from Windows 7 to Windows 8 many frustrations have ceased but Win 8 is still a terrible front end designed for trivial users of tablets and such and often makes it very difficult to get control over some simple things. Some of the basic things that were done well in things like Windows explorer and Windows Photo gallery have changed for the worse. I used to use them for a lot of my initial management of photos but the changes make it harder. Try to get a quick slide show of photos from a search - impossible.
Does mean that some third party software might be a better solution for that sort of work.
All round, the computer is great, the OS is not.

I bought Zenbook UX301LA-XH72T as a gift for my husband, because he spoke very highly about its quality and abilities. He is absolutely happy with it, though my husband is very picky. He is sure he has the thing of the top of the line.
I just want to add, that service and delivery were great, easy to track. And the order arrived in very good condition.

So far, I like this machine. I had to adjust the scaling right off as the text size on this high resolution display was way too small for these old eyes. And based on other reviews, I already knew there would be an adjustment period for Windows 8.1. It's fine...just different...and you'll adapt to it. The fit and finish is superb! All in all...it's a gorgeous workhourse with great specs. I'm pleased...

Very well designed product, with all the power required for the most challenging applications, and a rather comfortable keyboard for a laptop.
The display is outstanding, although quite a few applications still have problems dealing with such a high resolution.
Only negative point: the power supply comes with an integrated US wall plug. If you travel to Europe, and you don't bring a suitable adapter along, you won't find one that fits the integrated plug; and even then, the assembly is quite unstable. I bougth myself a power supply from the previous ZenBook series, and it has a detachable wall plug which can easily be replaced with any other format you require, even with a standard two pole cable.

This is a really nice laptop - probably the best of the current generation of Haswell ultrabooks.

The only other laptops I considered were the Lenova X1 Carbon (but it doesn't have a haswell chip) and the Yoga 2 Pro (but I played with a Yoga 1 at the store and it felt a little flimsy).

The gorilla glass 3 might not make sense at first and we'll see how it actually holds up -- but it did allow Asus to make a really thin display that feels pretty strong.

Also, I've never had 358 GB free after installing everything I use before. That's kind of nice.

The scaling thing with Windows 8.1 desktop mode is a bit of an issue at such a high resolution but that is not really the laptop's fault. I was able to get everything looking good after a couple of minutes messing with the display settings.

It's kind of expensive but spec-wise and considering its portability (lighter than my macbook air) I think it's worth it.
