The Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm ED VR DX Lens pairs a compact DSLR that has many professional-grade features with an all-in-one zoom lens. With the camera's 24.1MP DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 3 image processor, this setup provides images with accurate colors while retaining sharp details, since there is no low-pass filter. The camera also features a continuous shooting speed of 6 frames per second and a sensitivity of up to 25,600 ISO, allowing for sharp images with minimal noise in low-light conditions.

A 51-point focus area with 15 cross-type sensors detects both horizontal and vertical variations for fast, accurate autofocusing. Additionally, the D7100 offers a 1.3x crop mode which provides a slight increase in focal length and faster image processing. In addition, the D7100's dual SDXC card slots allow you to store numerous photos and videos.

Full HD video recording is possible at up to 60 frames per second with full manual operation. This can all be seen on the 3.2" 1,229k-dot TFT-color LCD with 100% coverage. Also, an OLED display is featured in the optical viewfinder for clear reading of the camera's settings. Additionally, a built-in flash with Commander function supports Advanced Wireless Lighting and a hot shoe mount is available for speedlights.

The D7100 is compatible with the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter for wireless connectivity. With the WU-1a and Nikon's free Wireless Mobile Utility app installed on your smartphone or tablet, you can instantly share images on the Internet and use your phone or tablet as a Live View monitor.

The camera is compatible with all Nikon F-mount lenses, both FX and DX-format. Included in this kit is the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-140mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR Lens. This is an all-in-one zoom lens capable of shooting from wide-angle to telephoto images. It is compatible with DX-format cameras and features an extra-low dispersion (ED) glass element and an aspherical element. These optical components improve edge sharpness and correct chromatic and geometric distortions. Additionally, it features Nikon's Silent Wave Motor (SWM) autofocus for fast, accurate focusing and Vibration Reduction (VR) image stabilization.

24.1MP DX-Format Sensor + EXPEED 3 Image Processing System
With its 24.1MP CMOS image sensor and Nikon's EXPEED 3 image processing system, the D7100 DSLR delivers high quality images with low noise. The EXPEED 3 image processor combined with 14-bit analog/digital conversion provides even tonal gradations while managing color, contrast, exposure, and noise, resulting in brilliant image quality. EXPEED 3 also provides the D7100 with fast response time, autofocus speed and a rapid six frames-per-second (fps) burst speed up to 100 images.
Omitted Optical Low Pass Filter
The D7100 is designed without the optical low-pass filter which will allow the sensor to capture images with exceptional sharpness and detail.
Full HD 1080p Video
With full-time autofocus and manual exposure control during video recording, a built-in stereo microphone and an external stereo microphone jack, headphone and HDMI jacks, the D7100 achieves exceptional cinematic reproduction and quality. Record in several high-definition formats: 1080p at 60i/50i/30/25/24 fps or 720p at up to 60p for ultra-smooth slow-motion sequences. Dual SD card slots give you additional recording time, and a 60i function enables smooth playback on HDTVs or external monitors.
3.2" 1229k-dot LCD and Optical Viewfinder with OLED Display
The D7100 features a 3.2" ultra-high-resolution 1,229K-dot LCD monitor which provides crisp image playback, menu adjustments and Live View shooting. The pentaprism eye-level optical viewfinder contains a low-power consumption OLED display element for bright, high contrast data readout and provides 100% frame coverage.
Fast Autofocus
The D7100 uses 51 focus points, including 15 cross-type sensors for detecting both vertical and horizontal contrast variations, to achieve fast, precise focus.
1.3x Crop
Get closer to your subject with a 1.3x crop mode. Using the 1.3x crop option allows the 51 autofocus points to cover almost the entire frame as well as providing longer equivalent focal lengths and faster image processing.
Built-in HDR
Built-in HDR (High Dynamic Range) combines shots taken simultaneously at different exposures into one rich, high-contrast image. When shooting high contrast scenes with bright spots and shadows, HDR will create a balanced image in which no details are lost.
Picture Control
Picture Control gives you instant access to the color characteristics of your images and allows you to tweak colors for optimization or completely redesign the look of your image for creative variations.
Spot White Balance
Spot White Balance control for Live View shooting makes setting the white balance as easy as pointing to the area in the frame that should be white.
Built-in i-TTL Flash and Speedlight Compatibility
The built-in pop-up iTTL Speedlight offers wide-angle flash-coverage. The camera also has Wireless Commander support so users can maximize the potential of Nikon's creative lighting options. Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

I like close-ups and macros, namely flowers such as orchids.Tee kit lens was a 18-140 mm f/3.5-5.6 VR with all latest optical 'goodies'. I was able to snap an orchid in no time and it looked as if it had been shot with a macro lens (which I may buy anyway at a later stage).I was amazed how fast the camera focuses with that lens, having used mostly non AF-S lenses with my old film Nikon cameras.Despite some heat Nikon received lately (some justified), I remain a Nikon fan boy for its sensor capabilities.

Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

I need this camera for shooting videos mainly. This camera has a very low rolling shutter artifact. And even then it can be fixed digitally via the computer. The lens does have a small value of lens distortion, but which lens doesn't? I'm happy to say that this product is worth every penny I invested in it.

Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

It is so nice to have a solid, responsive, real-deal camera again reminiscent of film days when point-and-shoot meant something different if action was breaking fast. Still exploring the paperback book of operating instructions and features and can tell from recent news shoots I'm going to feel all thumbs for a while. Getting better quickly, and the images are stunning.

      Awesome!!!

      By Caleb

Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

This is way better than the D3200. Having more controls for WB, ISO, exposure metering, AF mode, etc makes shooting much more fluid. The buffer is way better as well if you need to shoot a fast burst. The kit lense is also a great lense. You can really feel the difference in quality of this kit lense vs the ones that come with the D3200. This lense has a metal bayonet as well which really is nice. The larger LCD display is great. The built in intervolometer and multiple exposure modes are great additions. The AF motor in the camera is great because I can use some of my lenses I ised to run on my F4 like my Micro Nikor 105 F2.8 and the new Tomina 11-16 F2.8 I bought as well. This is an amazing camera. The only thing that will improve this camera would be making the jump to an FX camera. I'm glad Nikon finally gave some pro level hardware to the DX line.

Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

I have been contemplating a move from the Nikon D90. I looked at Cannon and Sony equivalent models. I tried the D7100 and never looked back My composition has always been good I never quite got what I saw through the lens. Now I do! I primarily shoot landscape but now I have been enticed to do more in portrait and night photography with my Nikon D7100. I am very picky with my image quaility and I am amazed!I love the dual memory card slot and, like I said, image quality. I can't really find anything that I don't like.If you are looking for a full frame sensor I wold try this as well, you won't be disappointed.

Had an old D60 and was long overdue for an upgrade. Spent some time researching various other models, and made the decision on this model. It's been 2 weeks since I received it and haven't had a single complaint. It's button set-up couldn't be more convenient and quality of pics on point.

I have owned several SLR and DSLR cameras in the past 30 years. The D7100 is the best. It is easy to use and takes sharp pictures. I got a prime lens, Nikon 35 mm f1.8G plus the kit zoom lens 18-140 mm for it. I just love it. I highly recommend it to everyoe looking for a new DSLR!

Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

Back when I researched buying a new D90 and Nikon's 18-200 lens, I was sure that I would have no need to replace it. Then came the D7100 along with the 18-140, and one review after another convinced me otherwise. Dropping the anti-aliasing filter really increases the sharpness, and I prefer the 18-140 OVER the 18-200 for handling and sharpness too.

Comments about Nikon D7100 DSLR Camera with 18-140mm VR DX Lens:

I have owned several Nikon DSLR cameras since 2004. Each new generation gets better. This D7100 is very solid DX digital camera and I especially like the user function settings of U1 and U2. I have one set for people shots and the other set for landscapes. It is very convenient to be able to change from one to the other setting with just a click of the main dial. This camera is a little bigger and heavier than say the D5300, but not so much more that it is a burden to carry around your neck for a day of shooting. The auto focus is quick and the low light images are very good. I think this D7100 will give me good service for the foreseeable future.

The camera has been easy to learn and well received by students in my video production class. It is definitely a step above the average camcorder and has lots of specific settings.
