Comments about Kanex DualRole Gigabit Ethernet and USB 3.0 Three Port Hub:

This hub was fairly cheap (on sale for less than $[$] when I bought it) but it just isn't reliable. The USB part of it seems fine, but the main reason I bought it over a regular USB3 hub is the Gigabit Ethernet port. I'm running a MacBook Pro Retina with Mac OS X 10.9, and downloaded the latest Ethernet driver from Kanex's web site.Usually, once the Ethernet is working it stays working. But as soon as I unplug the hub to use my MacBook portably, it almost never seems to work after plugging it back in. I usually have to reboot my computer. Network control panel shows it as a red dot (network cable unplugged). This completely defeats the purpose of using a device like this as a low-cost "docking station." So I've already printed the RMA and its going back. Its possible that this device works fine on a PC, or maybe on older versions of Mac OS X. But if you're running Mavericks, I'd avoid it.
