Comments about Intel D54250WYK Next Unit of Computing (NUC) Kit:

As said above, I've built close to 50 computers with this kit and the i3 kit, and out of all of those I have only had to return one that had issues with the power cable connecting. I absolutely love these kits and couldn't recommend them more. Even the i3's are more than fast enough for anything you'll need, short of video games or photo/ video editing. Most of the kits that I built were used to replace an entire office's computers. People often asked where the computers are, and then are amazed when I crouch down and point at the tiny box mounted to the underside of their desk. Building these computers is really easy too. Sometimes it's a pain to build a full computer, especially when you have to use thermal paste to put on heat sinks or when trying to neatly organize the masses of cables, which never seems to quite work out. With this kit, you undo four screws on the case, two small screws in the case, put in a tiny wifi card (if wanted), a mini SSd, and a stick of ram (I mostly used a single 8 gb stick), then put the six screws back in place, and you're done! Installing Windows is a pain, but I made a bootable USB 3.0 flash drive for that. The four USB ports in the kit are all USB 3.0, so file transfers are really quick. I really can't recommend these kits enough. With Windows 7, I clocked the boot time to the logon screen at 9 seconds. The only two downsides that I've come across, are the power cable with an elbow connector (I think this would be better straight) and the black glossy top gets dusty really quickly.

Comments about Intel D54250WYK Next Unit of Computing (NUC) Kit:

            HTPC (and more)
            Great size
            Powerful plenty.
Not as easy to setup as Intel would like you to think (and I am a tech).
Read the specs online or the little brochure that comes with it and make sure you stick to the specs (memory, 1.35 only, don't try 1.5; video hookup, got the mini DisplayPort working, the HDMI, tried several cables and adapters without much success, I know others did better).
Stick with mainstream vendors for Memory, mSATA (Intel, Crucial, etc.) and Wifi/BT (intel).
On a "Cons" side, while made out of metal, parts feel wobbly inside and don't always align (i.e., my power cable would not fit all the way in, had to play with the case and screws, maybe it was just mine).
In the end it is worth the money, once you have it all working.
