I've used all the Microsoft ergonomic keyboards and found them to be very helpful especially having to work at the computer at least 8 hours a day. Because I did not have a tray for my mouse, I started experiencing issues because I needed to stretch my arm further due to the width of the keyboard; this has been addressed with this new model. Now that I can move the numeric keypad on the left side, the position of my mouse is close to me. As a programmer, I tend to use the tab key quite frequently; I usually have three applications open at the same time and have to continuously switch between the screens using the alt+tab key. The left wrist is feeling the strain especially since the tab key is lower in height, not that I don't like the design because overall the design is much better suited than the standard keyboard. Since the keyboard is much more compact, I can alleviate some of the tension on my left side by moving my full left hand to access the tab key when it is tired. In fact I have learned how to do this with this compact keyboard which has been very helpful; this of course goes against all I have learned as a typist but personally I found that changing how I type once in awhile will break the constant repetition of what I am typing. Future Suggestions:1. Microsoft may want to consider including the tab key on the numeric pad for efficiency especially when working with Microsoft excel; the enter button will move the cursor to the next row so I find I lose a few seconds having to move back and forth between the keyboard and the numeric paid since the tab is on the left side. 2. I'm still thinking if they should also include the equal key on the numeric keypad.3. An additional tab key on the right side may also be helpful? Not sure yet.

I've replaced my home and work keyboards with this now, and look forward to many years of good use.

      Pros:
Keys have short, positive click. Allows for fast and accurate typing.
      Contour is very comfortable.
There is a noticeable space saving here, which allows the mouse to be closer to the typing area. Probably cuts the distance the right hand must move between keyboard and mouse by 1/3.

      Cons:
Had a unit arrive with a bad space bar that only registers when pressed hard, even if it is already clicked down. Returning that one.
Certain simultaneous key presses don't work. Multiple units had this issue. Shift + E + C or Shift + C + E will not register the 3rd key, but works for many other key combinations. May annoy SQL developers.
Reception and lag time can be noticeable if there are many obstructions between the keyboard and usb receiver, such as a large PC.

Comments about Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business:

I purchased two of these keyboards for home and work. One of the keyboards had a couple of keys that were intermittent. Discovered the key caps had not been put on correctly- once reseated, been working fine.

As there is no on/off switch, the unit powers down with no indication. First key press that wakes it up is usually lost, so need to learn to poke the shift before starting typing after a long pause.

Having to use a small physical slide switch to switch between function keys and speaker mute/volume keys is a minor pain. Not sure if I'll ever use the Windows 8 keys.

Range is fair. Have moved the dongle to the front USB ports of the computer. Seem to also be getting some minor interference with my Logitech wireless touchpad.

Comments about Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business:

Overall a pretty good keyboard. I was a fan of the older Microsoft ergonomic keyboards, so its great to see the new one keeps the ergonomic-ness I need from having to work at a computer all day.

The one thing I wish this had, compared to other keyboards, is that I wish the arrow keys were placed a little further apart from the rest of the keys. The spacing between the arrow keys and the other keys is the same as between two letters. This makes it hard for me to find the arrow keys without looking at the keyboard, and thus, I often end up hitting Page Down, Insert, Shift (one of the nearby keys) instead of the arrow keys.

Overall though, a nice, good-looking, ergonomic keyboard.

Comments about Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business:

The Good: I have a Logitech wave at home, and previously a MS ergo 4000, and I like this better than both. The shape is similar to the ergo and ergo, but more pronounced and wider. But the home run here is the key feel. Short throw and solid feel, the key touch is far better than anything I can ever remember using. Finally, it's all in a beautiful package; small/light enough for me to throw in the bag with the laptop for days I work from home.

The Bad: There is no height adjustment to raise the rear (I'm sure studies told MS that wasn't ergo. Personally, I adapted quickly, but makes it awkward when I go back to the wave). If you are used to the enter key as the farthest right key, you must use the (separate) keypad, and it takes some fiddling to find a comfy way to integrate it in the setup (it seems disproportional to the keyboard for some reason).

Comments about Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard for Business:

The MS Sculpt keyboard is designed for comfort and built for speed. The curvatures and padding of this keyboard alleviate a lot of strain on the wrists and hands, and the easy action makes for faster typing. Solid, well-built, and very stylish with its Batmanesque appearance.

Microsoft should offer a usb/rf dongle that allows more than a single device connection. Also, this keyboard uses a switch to access the special function keys, and I think that's a step back from an "Fn" key.

Tried most previous versions of MS and Logitech keyboards. Logitech was always a favorite until their keyboards were no longer about usability or ergonomically designed. The service from B&H was excellent. The keyboard is very durable, yet light, compact while not loosing functionality, best of all is the number pad, being a left handed, this is the first time I was able to effectively use the number pad. 5 Stars.

I work for a large financial organization from home and this works very well for me. I like the fact that you can separate the keypad from the keyboard.

This is one of the best ergonomic keyboards I have ever used. The inverted slope makes this keyboard much nicer on the wrists than standard ergonomic keyboards. The separate number pad makes logging financial transactions a breeze.

have been using other Microsoft ergo keyboards for a long time, but they were all rather large. This is elegantly sized and shaped with nice keys and good ergo layout. having the keypad separate is actually very handy too!

The culimation of Microsoft's many years designing of ergonomic keyboards, the Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard from Microsoft is both an engineering and esthetic masterpiece. Your hands fall naturally and effortless on the keys without contorting your hands or wrists. The palm rest is comfortable. The scroll wheel has a soft silicone rubber tire. The key travel is short but has a positive feel. The caps lock key is slightly relieved to lessen the chance of hitting it accidently. The battery comparment and prop are held in place magnetically, not with plastic catches. The numeric keypad is separate, faciliting its use as an calculator, adding machine, or data input.

Works great. I was looking for something with no number pad. I think most of the keyboards made me reach for my mouse that was causing my right arm ache at my shoulder. I have been using for about two weeks and seems to have helped little bit. Wish it had the functions on its own as I use them a lot along with the quick access audio buttons in my old keyboard (Microsoft ergonomic keyboard 4000)

I love this thing. I came from a MS Ergo 4000 so the shape is similar, but the keys on this thing are perfect. Like a really expensive laptop. It's also got a smaller footprint and the numeric keypad is separate and out of the way if you don't need it.
