DxO Optics Pro 9 Standard Edition provides advanced photo editing tools based specifically on your camera and lens combination. DxO created a library of corrections from testing numerous combinations of cameras and lenses. This allows for quick, optimized editing of your compact, bridge, or DSLR camera's photographs.

This software is designed to make your workflow faster and more streamlined. With no need to import you can immediately start working on your images. This edition also brings advanced export options for exporting to other applications and online.

Introduced in Optics Pro 9 is the PRIME noise reduction technology. This intelligently removes noise in order to maximize the quality of your image. Also added in this version are advanced highlight management and color rendering options. This is all in addition to the standard image editing features found in previous editions.

Standard Edition
The Standard Edition covers entry-level and mid-range DSLRs, as well as high-end compact digital cameras.
Automatic & Tailored Corrections
Optics Pro 9 automatically corrects and adjusts your photographs immediately after opening them. Corrections are then applied based on the camera and lens you used and these can be customized to your personal preference.
Optical Corrections
With a unique library of DxO Optics Modules, every optical flaw in your image is accounted for and eliminated. Distortion, vignetting, and chromatic aberrations are removed through special testing of many lens and camera combinations to determine inherent flaws in your equipment.
PRIME Noise Reduction
PRIME, or Probabilistic Raw IMage Enhancement, is a denoising technology that analyzes the structure of the RAW file in order to separate noise from details. This offers a powerful tool for cleaning up images in addition to the standard automatic denoising available to users looking for immediate results.
Smart Lighting and Improved Highlight Management
The Smart Lighting tool now offers improved highlight management in combination with the optimization of the brightness and contrast. This allows for more detailed to be pulled out of supposedly lost highlights. Also, with a Single-Shot HDR feature, high dynamic range images can be easily created from a single file.
DxO Portrait Color Rendering
Along with the standard DxO color rendering, a Portrait rendering mode ensures that skin tones and naturally-saturated colors are preserved.
Redesigned Preset Library
Along with introducing a visual presets window, the library of options has been updated and supplemented by "Atmospheres" to allow the creation of the look you desire. Also, the winder allows the previewing of presets prior to rendering.
Updated Workspace
An updated workspace features the accessibility of essential tools with advanced options readily available.
Advanced Export Tools
The export options have increased in Optics Pro 9. In addition to "Export to Disk" where you can create JPEG, TIFF, and DNG images locally, a new "Export to Application" feature allows you to automatically open your image in an external application. Additionally, the "Export to Flickr" option lets you process and directly publish images online.
Newcomers & DxO Academy
For newcomers to Optics Pro the DxO Academy provides tutorials, webinars, videos, and a user guide for learning the software. Another addition to Optics Pro 9 is contextual help on tools within the application itself.
RAW Conversion
Fine adjustments can be made to your photographs in a non-destructive manner. Additionally, these settings can be saved as presets for simple application to batches of images.
Lens Softness
Automatic correction based on the lens and camera dynamic creates a homogenized sharpness form the center to the edges of the photo. It also makes sure to preserve the quality of out-of-focus zones and avoids artifacting.
Color Management
Control the white balance, vibrancy, and tones of your image along with saturation and multi-point balance (Mac only). You can also adjust the color balance by applying the rendering of a different camera model.
Geometric Corrections
Fix the perspective and straighten the horizons of your compositions while preserving the natural volume and shapes of your subjects. The volume anamorphosis correction restores a natural look to the shapes and proportions of subjects located at the edges of images deformed by the use of wide-angle lenses, all while preserving the realistic reproduction of the scene as a whole.
Dust Removal
Remove the dust specks appearing on your images and save these preferences for removing dust from batches of images. The tool can also be used to remove unwanted elements from your photos, such as an antenna or power line.

Comments about DXO Optics Pro 9 Standard Edition:

By far the thing that got me to buy DxO Optics Pro 9 is the noise reduction. Shots I took on an APS-C sensor at f/5.6 with ISO 3200 are now not just usable, but pretty darn good. It's not as good as having fast glass on a full-frame sensor, but it's an inexpensive way to get much better results out of inexpensive gear.

Comments about DXO Optics Pro 9 Standard Edition:

I demoed this software before buying because I was a bit skeptical of the claims. After a month of use, I realized it did seem to be an improvement over Lightroom's rendering of my Panasonic GH3 RAW files.

      Just using the default settings...
It corrects lens distortion according the lens used. Could see very noticeable differences in the RAW processed in LR and Optics Pro.

It would also deliver a bit more sharpness and detail to most images.

Lighting was often a bit more natural in bright scenes and sometimes it would produce a bit more detail in shadows.

Sometimes I would make just a couple of tweaks such as increase the smart lighting in darker images and transfer it back to LR and I would be just fine with the final results.

After the demo expired, I didn't want to do without so I finally decided to purchase. I now use it for all my important photography projects.

Comments about DXO Optics Pro 9 Standard Edition:

I recently started working with RAW files from two Olympus micro four thirds cameras. Being new to this, I wanted a tool that works well and is efficient without being thin on features. I tried this product, Adobe Lightroom 5.4, Capture One Pro 7, Raw Therapee, and several other products. DxO won me over easily. Above all else, I consider its handling of optical distortions essential. Because of its strongly integrated support for my camera bodies and lenses, it does a far better job in less time - while preserving more of the image - than any other tool I've tried. Also, DxO's noise reduction and sharpening tools offer both outstanding quality and a large degree of control. The zoom and crop functions are flexible and easy to use. Many automatic adjustments are offered and are easily toggled. Overall, I like how DxO Optics Pro keeps things simple while giving me an abundance of options. There are just a few things this software doesn't do well. For example, I wish it displayed a clear history of changes I've made the way GIMP 2.8 does. Its handling of chromatic aberrations isn't the best around. Adjustments can only be made to the whole image, not to a selection. Fortunately, there are options for overcoming DxO's limitations. For instance, the latest version of DxO Optics Pro can exchange RAW files with Lightroom and can export 16-bit TIFF files.

I'm still learning the software, but so far it has been well suited to my needs; biggest advantage over the Lightroom and CaptureOne - it doesn't force me to create a catalog. Functionality-wise: spot adjustments would be nice (clone, heal), but the rest is there.

Comments about DXO Optics Pro 9 Standard Edition:

This review is after only a couple of sessions with the software. The program does a good job processing my PEF files. In some cases the image looked better than the scene at time of capture. But you can adjust the default processing to more closely match the original scene.

I purchased on recommendation of a friend because B&H had a special.

I have an intel D 3.2Ghz processor, 2G memory, 1G Nvidea card on Vista 32 bit.

It takes approximately 2 minutes for DXO 9 to load on my system. It took 14.5 minutes for it to process 1 PEF file (K20D) using the PRIME setting and output to DNG, TIF 16bit and JPG.

DXO Film pack 3 does not integrate into DXO 9 as it does into Elements, Lightroom, and Photoshop.

DXO 9 has modules available for many newer Pentax lenses, but not many older lenses. There is no way for a user to produce lens correction modules for DXO as is possible for some adobe products.

Occaisionally, DXO will crash on my system. When it does, it looses track of the working directory. In looking at the DXO website, they mentioned that DXO 9 would run on a system like mine, but with limitations.

If you've never used a program for RAW processing, expect a learning curve. There is a bit of learning yet for me to do, even though I'm adequate with adobe camera raw processing.

To recap, it does what it is supposed to do very well. Look to see what lenses are supported for your camera body if you want to use the lens correction features of DXO 9. DXO9 runs too slowly on older systems to be part of an efficient workflow. For that reason, I will not use it often until I upgrade my computer system.

This software is very simple. It knows which lens you have used when viewing the photos and will ask you to download the corresponding settings for it. When you click on any photo the program automatically adjusts it for you. You can tweak if you like, but I find their settings to be very good.

I just use it as a raw converter mostly. But it does a good job of enhancing the image with the presets. I am just learning about post processing, and understand very little at this time. DXO has made it easy for me to learn as I go with no chance of destroying my original files.
It is easier to use & understand than my old copy of Photoshop.
