The 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens from Sigma is a wide-angle to medium telephoto zoom lens with a constant f/4 aperture. It is designed for both full frame and crop sensor Canon DSLR cameras.

The lens integrates three aspherical elements into its construction as well as two SLD and two FLD glass elements to help minimize aberration, field curvature, and distortions throughout the zoom range as well as provide greater image sharpness while avoiding reduced peripheral brightness. Super Multi-Layer Coating has also been applied to lens elements to reduce surface reflections, lens flare, and ghosting to produce images with higher contrast and color fidelity.

The barrel of the lens is constructed from a Thermally Stable Composite (TSC) material that offers minimal thermal shrinkage and exceptional hardness. For autofocus, a Hyper Sonic Motor (HSM) delivers high speed focus with minimal noise, making it well suited for continuous shooting and video recording.

An optimized algorithm offers smooth auto focusing with full-time manual focus override.
A brass mount combines high precision with rugged construction, adding durability to the lens.
The lens is compatible with Sigma's USB Dock and Sigma Optimization Pro software for adjusting focus position, and updating its firmware to better suit your needs.
The rounded 9-blade diaphragm produces aesthetic bokeh at both large and small apertures.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

Excellent build quality, very sharp throughout the range, very nice color and rendering, very quiet AF and OS. I find 24-70 range too limiting, especially for studio portraits, but I wasn't a big fan of the Canon version of the 24-105 L. I also have the excellent Sigma 35, and I'm beginning to think that Art is the new L.

Sharp, well built, better than the canon

    By Griffon

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

This lens is truly spectacular, it is sharp, well built and much better than the canon 24-105. The autofocus is super fast, even on my t3i. I can't imagine how fast it would be on a 1d! I would totally recommend this lens to anyone who wants a super sharp lens with fast autofocus and a wide zoom range under $ bucks.I do, however dislike the focus shift you get when you zoom. Still 5 stars though

Beautiful photos. Super fast AF that's almost silent. World class build and finish quality and very comfortable to use. I have not used Canon's version but have other L lenses and this sigma gives up nothing to them. For a 35mm / full frame sensor camera this may be the best walk around lens. Very happy

So, I bought this lens for my RED Epic Dragon camera because I needed something to cover the 6K sensor. This lens does a great job. It's super sharp and built extremely well. Much more robust than the sloppy Canon 24-105.
If you're looking for a fairly inexpensive zoom, this could be the ticket.

I have been lusting after the Canon 24-105 L lens for some time. After much internal deliberation, I decided to purchase this lens, and I'm glad I did. My last two outings have been almost exclusively with this lens. I've shot waterfalls, and other landscapes with this lens. The images are sharp through out the full range of f stops. I've ranged the f-stops from 4 all the way to 22, and everything looks fine.

This is one of the best lens I've used in a long time. The build seems like it's weather sealed, even though it's not. The image quality is overall consistently sharp and nice.

Best 24-105mm as of right now for sure.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I already have the Sigma 35 1.4 Art since june of 2013 (which is the best lens I've ever used).I was a Canon 24-105 owner but I decided to change from Canon to Sigma. The AF is so fast and accuracy like the Canon. The construction is great but not like de Canon L. Between Canon and Sigma, I prefer the ergonomic of the Canon because of the weight and the focus and focal distance ring.About the vigneting and distance, is very similar of the Canon L.The bokeh is a better (not so much but is noticeable). When we talk about the sharpness, is here where the Sigma wins! Like the other Art series lenses, this is awesome and here is the great advantage when compare with Canon. It's incredible how this Sigma zoom lenses can keep high sharpness even above of 80 mm. The constrast and colors of the Sigma are better and have its personality... for Canon users, the difference is not so huge, in terms of money, when you buy the Canon L together with 5D or 6D but, for Nikon users, it's almost a must have lens.

As sharp as the Canon 24-105. Does not flair like the Canon. Constant aperture all the way through the focal range, unlike the Canon which is more like an F5.6 at the long end. I just wish it was par focal like the Canon.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I've had this lens for a couple of weeks, now. Because of customer reviews, I selected it over the Canon L lens of the same focal length. I have it coupled with my Canon EOS 5D Mark II.

The build quality is top-notch, as are the other Sigma lenses I own (180mm macro, 12-24 mm wide zoom). I own one Canon L lens (100-400 mm) which is a superb lens. But, the Sigma's seem to offer greater value for the money.

I've had a Canon 24-135 mm zoom for years. It has been a wonderful work horse for me and will always be dear to my heart. But, it has some deficiencies. Images on it tend to be soft. The f-stops increase when you zoom in. The build quality is rickety.

This Sigma lens is everything I've wanted in a "walk around" lens. Constant aperature throughout the focal length, rock solid costruction, and tack sharp focus. In fact, the sharpness of the lens reveals some of my own sloppiness as a photographer. When you're wide open, you had better make sure everything you want in focus is on the same focal plane or it will be obvious when it's not.

Nothing against Canon lenses. They make very impressive lenses and they are rightfully proud. However, this Sigma lens will please you.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I've so far used this lens mostly for portraiture, events, and still life of larger objects. So far I'm very pleased, the AF is silent-no sound whatsoever. The focusing is also very quick both in good and low light. With Canon's unparalleled High ISO capabilities I shoot 3200 with marginal IQ loss, so the F4 aperture to me is no issue. Sigma has truly revamped their line with the 'art' lenses, I was considering the Canon version and saw this as an alternative and have no regrets. The zoom mechanism is CANON OPPOSITE, counter clockwise- the way that makes sense but if you like the canon way it'll throw you. If you want to use it for tight macro you'll need an extension tube because its focusing range is 1.4 feet. I can't think of a better go-to medium range lens. It's heavy but there's quality, the focusing ring is excellent-buttery and good for video. Might have to buy new filters for the 82mm thread, but thats the only downside. Highly recommend it.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I primarily shoot people and animals. This lens is the sharpest lens that I own. Since getting this lens, I have noticed that I spend much less time in post edit, and my photography has never looked better.

I have a full frame sensor camera and a ASP-C crop sensor camera. Both work really well with this lens, but due to the f/4 limitation it doesn't work so well in lower lighting scenarios. Needless to say, The full frame works better due to its size. However even with this low lighting limitation, it is still worth the purchase.

This lens is heavy and well built. Since getting this lens, all of my others feel like toys. There are many layers of glass which is most likely what makes it exceptional. Buy this lens and you will fall in love with photography all over again.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

Sigma has been killing it lately with their Art lenses.

This lens significantly outperforms the Canon 24-105 F4L.
For one, it's sharper and actually constant aperture. (It does not lose a half stop of light like the Canon does at 105mm)

The light transmission of the Sigma (T Stop) is also rated at an efficient 4.2 (compared to the Canon's 5.1).
The build quality, like the other Art lenses, is beautiful. Better than any other lenses I have ever felt. And the zoom is buttery smooth.

The downside is that it's not weather sealed, does not hold focus (Even if you zoom out from 105mm), is heavier, and the filter thread is 82mm (much less compatible than the Canon's 77mm filter size).

For me, the pros outweigh the cons, and I look forward to Sigma producing lenses of this quality in the future.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I have owned 2 copies of the Canon 24-105L in the past and both were fine and I accepted their flaws and limitations. I read the various reviews online when this was launched and most called the difference between the Sigma and Canon negligible. I however found them much more pronounced. The Sigma is far sharper in the center and a bit sharper on the edges. The AF is faster than any Sigma zoom I've used and is faster than the other Canon 24-105's. Not like a 135 f/2 AF, don't get me wrong. The vignetting is similar and the CA is better on the Sigma. On the wide end (24) the Sigmas has less distortion than the Canon version. It is heavier but on a 5D3 it is a similar fit to the new larger glass 24-70's that have been coming out recently. The Art Line is beautiful and well designed and after owning both this lens and the Sigma 35 1.4 I look forward to more full frame Sigma lenses that rival or beat their Canon counterparts for a great deal less money.

Comments about Sigma 24-105mm F/4 DG OS HSM Lens for Canon DSLR Cameras:

I have this lens for over a week and I'm using it with Canon 70D.
I was impressed by its weight since picking up the box and thought this is a heavy one.
Once attached to the camera , the camera becomes small...very small. Enough with the introduction.
I have tried the lens in different environments and have to say it's impressive . Excellent picture quality both indoors and outdoors ,quick focus not to say that, during recording movies, it is a very quite lens when auto-focusing.
