  • Even Gradation Across Entire Filter
  • Rotating Design for Placing Density
  • Clear Optical Glass Construction
  • Aluminum Filter Ring

The Hoya 82mm Graduated ND10 Filter is a graduated neutral density filter that helps to specifically darken skies and other bright areas of the image. The filter has a 3-stop density at one edge and evenly tapers to a 1-stop density at the opposite edge, with a smooth gradation throughout the middle of the filter plane. The design of this filter incorporates a rotating mount to allow precise positioning of the density over a selected area of the scene for greater control in darkening the brightest areas of an image. A neutral density filter does not affect the overall coloration of an image and helps to reduce the amount of light entering the camera lens in order to enable the use of wider aperture settings or longer shutter speeds.

This filter is constructed from one wedge layer of clear optical glass that is matched and bonded to a second layer of neutral density filter glass for a smooth, even density transition that maintains high image quality. It is set within a durable rotating aluminum filter ring.

Comments about Hoya 82mm Graduated ND10 Filter:

I have purchased and used a very large number of filters over the years and have never been able to find a better made filter. Hoya simply out does the competition. I use this filter on a Canon 24mm TSE II, mostly for long exposures stacked on a HOYA ND 400. I never am concerned about color shift as the HOYA filters are true neutral ND. And very important is the high quality multi coatings of this filter and the gradation from top to the bottom is unique to most circular ND Grads. With this Grad there is no need to be concerned about the edge of the grad causing an issue in the scene such as a darkned tree line or other such issue as can ocurr with a filter where the gradation stops in the middle. The Hoya coatings are also very durable and the easiest to clean of any I have used. All this said it is an expensive filter but so is the loss of a shot to a filter that is not up to your task.
