      Comments about Marshall Audio Monitor Over-Ear Headphones (Black):

      These headphones fit so well that the volume doesn't need to be at 11 to drown out the noise of the marketing department cackling all the live long day. With the filters left in they sound good, with the filters out they sound great.

      Comments about Marshall Audio Monitor Over-Ear Headphones (Black):

      I had been looking for the elusive "great" pair of headphones for a long while. The one that sounds amazing regardless of whether I listen to heavy metal, classical, or electronic music;
      The one that I can comfortably wear for hours while looking at codes or data in front of my computer;
      The one I can wear at the gym or while running and will stay in place;
      The one that feels like I can shove it in my backpack without feeling like it's going to get damaged by the mess that rattles around in there...

      I unfortunately learned long ago that most reasonably priced and decent looking headphones out there also sounded horrible and/or were built very flimsily... So that quest of mine was essentially just me looking around once in a while, rolling eyes a lot, and usually giving up fairly quickly.

      I stumbled upon these completely by accident (looking for gaming mice, if you must know). The old school look was what attracted me at first, but my expectations were fairly low knowing how stylish headphones usually perform. So I was rather impressed by how positive the online reviews were, from both DJ and audiophile sites! After a few days of looking around to make sure they were worth the relatively high price tag, I dove in.

      First impression: the package is very good. A sturdy cardboard box in which the cans fit neatly. Between that and the shipping box full of packing material from B&H, I was confident they'd gotten to me in the same shape as when they left the store.

      In hand: in addition to looking awesome, they look like very sturdy headphones. All the hinges are metal, the removable cushions are held by strong magnets rather than clips that would definitely wear out, details are stitched or screwed on rather than glued, the 3.5mm jack has a metal spring protection... Even though I can't actually comment on their longevity having had them for a few weeks only, I do feel that everything in their construction has been thought through to ensure they'll withstand the passage of time.
      The removable cord is a nice touch as these things tend to wear out. And since the cord doesn't have a volume button, it makes me hope a more mp3 player-friendly cord will eventually be available.

      In use: my head is quite a bit larger than average, and the cans definitely felt a bit tight at first. In addition to the adjustable length, the band is designed to be bent out (or in) as necessary though, and once adjusted they do feel very good. The soft leather-ish (might be vinyl) is very comfortable on the ears, they cover the ears quite well, and they are reasonably lightweight so I can (and I do) wear them for hours on end.
      Sound-wise, they are amazing. I've essentially re-discover some of my music under a whole new light as the sound is so clean. These perform admirably well on every genre I've used them for: bass-heavy electronic music, classical, country, ambient,... And there isn't much leakage either, so I can listen at any volume I want without bothering people around me.

      A quick word on the cons, because there are some:
      - having a mic with a play/pause button but no volume seems like a weird oversight in a world of music on-the-go.
      - I happily wear them at the gym or while jogging, but it does get sweaty. I suspect the ear pads are indeed made of vinyl rather than leather, and the latter would probably be a bit better in that respect... But they remain over-the-ear headphones rather than earbuds, and it kinda comes with the territory.
      - the hinges are designed to be easily collapsable, but I think I would personally prefer it be a little less easy.
      - the canvas bag is cool to throw these in my backpack, but I don't get the point of having a hole in it. I suppose it looks cool, but it also defies the purpose of keeping all that small mess away from the headphones. I'll definitely be patching that hole.
