The Sirui N-1204X 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod is a great tripod for travelers and other adventurous photographers who need to pack extremely light and reserve the option to, at a moment's notice, slim down their camera's support system to just a monopod. The N-1204X features a leg that unscrews and attaches to a second included mounting plate and, optionally, the tripod's removable center column, to form a monopod that ranges from 16.5" (collapsed) to 61.4" long (with the center column attached).

Reaching a maximum height of 63.0", the tripod is quite versatile in its own right – the N-1204X weighs just 2.4 lb but supports up to 26.5 lb thanks to its thick upper leg sections and forged aluminum chassis.

The compact N-1204X tripod's legs fold upward 180° around the tripod head to achieve a relatively compact folded length of 17.3". The entire package stays very compact to fit comfortably in most carry-on bags and many backpacks.

The tripod's center column is reversible and split into two sections, so that you remove part of the column and set up extremely close to the ground for ultra-low-angle shooting. With the longer center column section removed you can set the legs at their wide angle (80°) and shoot from only 6.3" from the ground.

Minimal diameter difference between each leg section for greater overall stability
Silicone twist locks for leg stages
Automatic leg-angle lock mechanism for speed and convenience – independently lock legs into place at three different angles: 23°, 52° & 80°
Split center column allows the tripod to reach extremely low positions – minimum height of 6.3"
An additional mounting plate attaches to the unscrewed monopod leg to mount a camera. A wrist strap is included for security in case the operator's grip slips
Leg warmer on the monopod leg facilitates handling in extreme weather conditions and helps protect it
Center column hook allows you to add a ballast for a sturdier setup in windy conditions
Reversible 1/4"-20 & 3/8"-16 screw on mounting plate enables the attachment of virtually any camera, camcorder, or head
Well-designed padded travel bag with sturdy shoulder strap for carrying

Comments about Sirui N-1204X 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:

Very impressed by the engineering in this. They made a better mouse trap and it's fantastic. Solid, secure, and never had any problems in any way. It's just about perfect (can't think of anything bad) and is the only tripod I use now.Being lightweight, it's great for travel. But it's so much more. It's very steady and highly adjustable and customization. As it mentions the mono pod feature, I will say it's OK in a pinch, but it's fairly short (I'm 6'4) so not really a replacement for a proper mono pod. Beyond that, the legs can be tightened or loosened at the chassis - which is nice for micro adjustments (I tend to move a leg to level out the camera once the head is tightened). I also have the Sirui K-10X ballhead. It's excellent as well. Easy to use and very secure.ONE THING TO KNOW - to fit into the Sirui bag with ball-head attached: extend the center column all the way up. The legs flip up and the bottom of the legs will be resting against the ball head/arca plate. Feels weird at first, but it actually shortens the entire package.Just buy it and love it!

This is a great tripod for travel. I've even packed it in my lightweight carry-on bag. Support my Canon 6d 3/300mm lens just fine. Great product.

Comments about Sirui N-1204X 4-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod:

I conducted an extensive review of ALL travel tripod options before deciding that this one was the best. I felt it offered numerous height change options, and for macro photography has a range that gives me from a frog's eye view all the way up to my 6'2" height without bending over. It is 1/10 lb higher weight than the comparable leading brand, but offers more flexibility for the taller traveler. Excellent quality at an appropriate price, this tripod eliminates the spikes worry that can raise the interest of the TSA, and the hook for additional weight helps steady the platform overall. Very well engineered. I believe Sirui is here to stay!
