The Samigon Pro Umbrella Holder is used to hold a flash and umbrella on a light stand. This sturdy but lightweight unit holds the umbrella through a hole in the center of the unit. The umbrella is held firmly in place using a large thumb screw. The flash sits on top in a shoe. The entire unit swivels in the middle and can be positioned at various angles using the large and ergonomic adjustment handle.
For the shooter who is on the go and needs to work with lightweight equipment - the kind of job where you walk into an office, set up a light stand with one umbrella and a shoe mounted flash, this accessory is a must.

Comments about Samigon CSA438 Pro Umbrella Holder (Black):
I needed an extra hotshoe mount with umbrella holder. Ordered this item which was lot cheaper than those I bought earlier, and the quality surprised me. It exceeded my expectation from the price point. I may order few more in near future when I will expand my studio.

Comments about Samigon CSA438 Pro Umbrella Holder (Black):
The design of this product is what attracted my attention. It looked to be rather functional. I bought two of them. When I received them I found them to have been machined poorly. The top portable flash holder has a thumb screw to hold the flash in place. A tiny thumb screw is placed to exert force on the side of the inserted flash unit. This hole is too big and resulted in the screws not threading correctly and causing sharp edges everywhere by hitting the top of the rail. One of the two would not even hold the screw in place. This would cause damage to your flash unit base.
The other issue is the hole that was drilled through to use to tighten the umbrella rod is too low. It is not centered in relationship to the center of the hole. The result of this is that when you tighten the umbrella rod down the screw hits the rod at an angle causing damage to the rod. It would not take too many times of this to really chew up the rod.
I am somewhat of an engineer so I could fix these problems for myself. For the umbrella rod I made a small piece of brass to insert into the whole to lay flat against the rod while tightening. For the flash head holder I happen to have two camera plate 1/4 20 screws which I use two tighten the flash head from the bottom.
But for those of you who want the product (as designed) to just function correctly and ready for use.......do not buy this product.

Comments about Samigon CSA438 Pro Umbrella Holder (Black):
This holder is very well made but it doesn't hold my Nikon SB600 flash securely. I am able to make it work but am always afraid that the flash will fall out of the holder. It may work very well with other flashes...but that is just a guess.

Comments about Samigon CSA438 Pro Umbrella Holder (Black):
adapts to almost any tripod to give you a "hands free" use of an on-camera flash used off-camera. Keeps the red-eye away. Will need some kid of a trigger to actuate the flash. White umbrella is also a nice touch.

Buying from B&H means many things to me; confidence, quality, competitive pricing and value. When I needed some umbrella holders recently to complete my portable studio, there was only one place to turn – B&H. The product descriptions were accurate and once received, as advertised. These particular umbrella holders are extremely well made. The have a solid feel, ver substantial and are dependable in their form and function. I would recommend them without hesitation to anyone wanting an affordable piece of equipment.
