The 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount from Rokinon is a manual focus, manual aperture, ultra-wide angle prime lens compatible with full-frame & APS-C format mirrorless digital cameras. With APS-C sensors it provides a 93.9° angle of view which translates into a 35mm format focal length equivalency of 21mm. A maximum aperture of f/2.8 is effective in low light shooting and provides shallow depth of field. With extra-low dispersion, aspherical and hybrid aspherical lens elements, chromatic aberrations are minimized and sharp, color-accurate images are the result. UMC lens coating facilitates even light transmission and reduces ghosting and flare. The minimum focus distance for this lens is 11".

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

Fantastic lens!! Especially considering the price. Constructions feels solid, focus ring is precise and butter smooth. It can be little soft at 2.8 but once closed down a few stops it is about as sharp as any other wide angle I've ever used. What ever distortion and vignetting there is can be easily corrected by downloading a LR lens profile.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

Excellent value for the money. Yes, it does work on the full frame Sony A7 or A7R! On these cameras, it is a true 14mm ultrawide vs. 21mm equivalent you might get on APS-C like NEX. The other Rokinon/Samyang wide angles (10mm, 12mm and 16mm) are designed for APS-C and will seriously vignette on full frame cameras. Also, this lens is a retrofocus design, so there are none of the problems that might happen with some of the other ultrawide manual lenses where the rear element is much closer to the sensor (e.g., smearing and color shift in the corners). The tradeoff is that this is a large and somewhat heavy lens. I have found this lens relatively sharp across the frame. It maintains its rectilinear rendering well for such a wide angle. This is a fully manual lens with no electronic connection to the camera.

Comments about Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 ED AS IF UMC Lens for Sony E-Mount:

Bought the lens and tried it with the Sony A7R, a full frame camera. In the centre of the lens, about 60 % of the sensor surface is sharp. The rest, around the edges, the image is very soft and blurry. There is also a bit of chromatic aberration.
