The Rokinon 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E produces a slightly telephoto angle-of-view on full-frame sensors. It features a very fast maximum aperture of T1.5 and an 8 blade iris, for shallow depth of field with attractive bokeh. The focus and aperture control rings are outfitted with industry standard gearing, which provides an interface for working with a traditional follow focus. The aperture control ring has also been "declicked," which facilitates smooth iris pulls.

The 85mm has a minimum focus distance of 3.6'. Internal focusing minimizes the effects of lens breathing, which insures a more consistent angle-of-view when adjusting focus. The lens is composed of 9 elements in 7 groups, including one aspherical element to reduce spherical aberrations. In addition, multi-coated elements help improve light transmission.

Comments about Bower 85mm T1.5 Cine Lens for Sony E:

For the build and optical quality alone, this lens is worth every penny. Full-frame compatible, with a huge stepless aperture of T1.5 (f/1.4), in a solid body, and comaptible with a follow-focus for video shooters. At T1.5 the lens is a bit soft, but more than acceptable (unnoticable if shooting 1080p video), with minor fringing. It becomes noticably sharper when stopping down to T2-2.2, which is very useful for low-light video, and fringing disappears at T2.8. Stopped down from T4 through T11 (sharpest at T5.6) this lens is *extremely* sharp. With respect to photography, still a great lens, but the lack of manual focus may be a turn-off for some, but is fairly manageable. I noticed when doing hand-held shooting, depending on how I hold the lens, it's possible to nudge the aperture a bit when focusing by hand, but this really depends on the size/weight of the lens in relation to your camera.I have a NEX-6 and this lens weighs slightly more than the camera, so shooting handheld I prefer to support the lens rather than the camera body. Even for photography, I don't consider it a big issue in practice even handheld (and is completely avoided with a tripod/follow focus).Overall I am very satisfied with this lens. Excellent build and optical quality,----...
