The Canon FD Lens to Micro Four Thirds Mount Camera Speed Booster from Metabones allows a full frame Canon FD lens to be mounted to a Micro Four Thirds mount camera and in doing so, increases the angle of view and increases the maximum aperture one f/stop.

When a lens intended for full frame sensors or 35mm film is mounted to a camera with an Micro Four Thirds sized sensor, it transmits a larger area of light than the smaller sensor was built to accept and therefore the angle of view of the lens decreases and the equivalent focal length increases. The Speed Booster condenses light from the lens and projects it onto the smaller sensor allowing the sensor to utilize all of the lens' light and effectively produce a full-frame angle of view with an MFT sensor. A corresponding increase in the maximum aperture of one f/stop makes the lens more effective in low-light situations and able to create a shallow depth of field.

Metabones Speed Boosters are quality made, using precision-machined brass with chromium plating on both the camera-body and the lens sides of the booster in order to ensure smooth mounting, quality aesthetic, and durability. This adapter has a detachable tripod foot that is compatible with Arca Swiss, Markins, and Photo Clam ball heads.

Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), or other auto functions are not retained using this speed booster. The Canon FD to Micro Four Thirds Speed Booster has been updated and is now compatible with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 camera.

Allows a full frame Canon FD lens to be mounted to a Micro Four Thirds mount camera and in doing so, increases the angle of view and increases the maximum aperture one f/stop.
Both camera-side and lens-side of the speed booster are made of brass, precision-machined and plated with chromium.
Precise fit and solid connection - lens has no play, gap or wiggling when mounted on speed booster and no adjustments are required to fit your lens.
The Speed Booster uses matte-black treatment to keep internal reflection to a minimum in order to maintain the maximum optical quality possible with the lens.
The lens' aperture is set to wide open for ease of focusing while the Wide-Open (WO) button of the Metabones Speed Booster is depressed. Release the button and the lens will return to the aperture set on the camera. This wide-open function is automatically shut off when you actually take a picture and during movie capture.
This adapter has a detachable tripod foot that is compatible with Arca Swiss, Markins, and Photo Clam ball heads.
Although the lens will fit physically, automatic diaphragm (AE metering), or other auto functions are not retained using this speed booster.

Comments about Metabones Canon FD Lens to Micro Four Thirds Mount Camera Speed Booster:

Works as advertised. Turns nice old school canon fd mount lenses into even better lenses to use with my GH3 for video. I have tried it with 4 FD lenses, the 200 f2.8, 50 f1.4, 35-105 f3.5 and the 24-35 L f3.5 and it works with all of them. If you like the look of the FD lenses then the speed booster is a must have.

I'm still experimenting with it, but it is nice to get reduced crop and increased speed . . . and a whole bunch of old lenses to try out.

Using on my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera and it works great. Using with the following lenses-

              20mm 2.8
              50mm 1.4
              85mm 1.8
              135mm 2.5

All of them look outstanding. Some type of speedbooster seems like a MUST for m43 cameras.

Love this high quality adapter. Solid build with beautiful glass. It really works. I don't know about making the lens faster. I think it just makes the lens behave like it was meant to.

Comments about Metabones Canon FD Lens to Micro Four Thirds Mount Camera Speed Booster:

I purchased Metabones Speed Boost for Canon FD to Micro 4/3 Adapter for my Panasonic Lumix GH2, which has a 2x crop factor on my Canon FD lenses. It's a little pricey, but I tried wide-angle adapters, and was not happy with the picture quality, and reduction in light. The Speed Boost widens the view by .7x for an effective 1.4x crop factor, and the image is generally a stop brighter. On fast lenses f/1.2 you won't get a full stop, but it's definitely brighter. The Speed Boost is very solid and fits precisely on both the lens and camera, firm but not too tight.I tested the adapter on a Canon 17mm f/4, 20mm f/2.8, 24mm f1.4, 28mm f/2 and 35mm f/2 and was impressed with the image quality, especially on video. It could be because the sensor size on the GH2 does not get close to the edges. I can't speak for the sharpness of still photography. I can say the Speed Boost is magnitudes better than the wide-angle adapter I purchased. Its effectively doubled my shooting options. This is a game changer, especially for Micro 4/3 cameras.

I purchased this adapter to leverage quality, older glass available at budget prices. I am extremely satisfied with the construction of the product, the quality of shots taken with 20+ year old FD lenses, and the extra f-stop provided by the "speed boost."I highly recommend this for any m43 users looking to expand their lens collection on a budget.

Ok, so I can easily get geeked out and excited over new gear, but this little guy has got to be the coolest item I have gotten in the last several months. Really? Over a simple adapter, you might ask? Oh no, its far more than that. It does pretty much exactly what Metabones boasts, in that it increases the image of the lens by .71% while adding a full f-stop to your Canon FD mount lenses. I, personally, love older manual primes and when you can get a really well maintained used FD for under [$]s, this truly does justify its value to cost, in my opinion.
