The Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera is a compact weather-resistant super-zoom camera featuring a 16.4 Mp 1/2.3" CMOS sensor that is capable of producing high-resolution stills and full HD 1080p movies with notable low-light sensitivity. High speed performance is afforded throughout the system, enabling fast continuous shooting up to 10 full resolution frames per second as well as an auto focusing speed of 0.14 seconds, a startup time of 0.68 seconds, and a shooting interval time of 0.65 seconds.

The built-in Fujinon 50x optical zoom lens provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 24-1200mm, covering wide-angle to super telephoto perspectives to suit working in nearly any shooting scenario. A 5-axis image stabilization system can be employed to further eliminate the appearance of camera shake in order to produce sharper imagery when working in dim lighting and with greater zoom magnifications.

Both a rear 3.0" 920k-dot LCD monitor and 920k-dot electronic viewfinder are available for monitoring and image review. The LCD monitor features a vari-angle design to facilitate easier viewing from both high and low working angles, while the electronic viewfinder provides eye-level viewing capabilities and an additional point of contact between yourself and the camera for greater shooting stability.

Additionally, the S1 features built-in wireless connectivity to enable direct transferring of images between the camera and iOS or Android devices for instant sharing online. Wireless connectivity also provides the ability to remotely control your camera as well as view a live view image from the mobile device's screen.

Fujinon 50x Optical Zoom Lens
A super-long 50x optical zoom lens is integrated into the FinePix S1's design, giving a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 24-1200mm. This lens has a maximum aperture of f/2.8-5.6 and utilizes lens-shift type optical image stabilization to counter the effects of camera shake that become more apparent when working with longer focal lengths and in Super Macro mode. Aspherical and ED lens elements are incorporated into the lens construction to reduce aberrations and color fringing throughout the zoom range. For even greater reach, Intelligent Digital Zoom is available and can effectively double the zoom magnification to 100x with minimal loss in image quality.
16.4 Mp CMOS Sensor and Full HD Video
The 16.4 megapixel 1/2.3" CMOS sensor is able to deliver high resolution imagery with tremendous quality and notable low-light performance to ISO 12800. High speed shooting capabilities up to 10 full resolution frames per second are available as well as a fast 0.68 second startup time, 0.65 second shooting interval time, and a 0.14 second autofocusing time.

Accessible through a dedicated Movie Recording Button, the sensor also lends itself to producing full HD 1080p videos in the H.264 format with the added benefit of 5-axis image stabilization to ensure smooth playback and motion rendering. The 2-axis optical image stabilization system counters both pitch and yaw movements while a 3-axis electronic image stabilization system compensates for roll, vertical shift, and horizontal shift movement types. Full 50x zoom, scene recognition mode, and still image capture capabilities are available during recording as well as the ability to record high speed movies up to 480 fps. Sound is recorded via a built-in stereo microphone and an integrated wind noise filter helps to deliver clean recorded audio. Video playback is possible on an HDTV directly from the camera through an HDMI connection.
Built-In Wi-Fi Connectivity
Built-in Wi-Fi connectivity allows for instant sharing of images directly to an Android or iOS mobile device, and is easily accessible via a dedicated Wi-Fi button on the back of the camera. When used in combination with the free Fujifilm Camera Remote app, you can browse the image contents from the memory card within the camera and transfer photos and movies directly to a mobile device or PC or upload straight to social networking and image sharing sites. Additionally, linked mobile devices can also be used as a remote camera control and viewing device for adjustment over zoom placement and releasing the shutter from a distance.
Vari-Angle LCD Monitor and Electronic Viewfinder
The S1 is equipped with both a rear 3.0" 920k-dot LCD monitor and an eye-level electronic viewfinder for monitoring and reviewing imagery. The 3.0" monitor features a vari-angle design to benefit working from both high and low angles while the 0.2" 920k-dot EVF enables eye-level shooting, which provides an additional point of contact to better aid in steadying your camera while shooting.
Other Camera Features
  • Approximately 70 dust and weatherproof seals promote the S1's use in harsh and inclement conditions.
  • A built-in intervalometer enables the creation of time lapse imagery, with intervals up to every 10 minutes for a maximum of 6 hours.
  • The inclusion of a slide-lever zoom control, one-touch movie record button, and ergonomic camera grip give this camera an immense amount of efficiency through physical design.
  • 10 Advanced Filters are incorporated to further enhance the aesthetic quality of imagery, including: Pop Color, Toy Camera, Miniature, Partial Color (Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, and Purple), High-Key, Low-Key, Dynamic Tone, Fisheye, Soft Focus, and Cross Screen.
  • Manual exposure modes (P/A/S/M) are available to give you more creative control over the exposure settings. SR AUTO, AUTO, Scene Position, Motion Panorama, Advanced Mode, and Custom settings are also selectable via the top dial.
  • Scene Position modes are selectable modes that can be used to ensure the camera is correctly exposing for the type of subject matter you are photographing. Modes include: Portrait, Landscape, Sport, Night, Night (Tripod), Fireworks, Sunset, Snow, Beach, Party, Flower, and Text.
  • In addition to standard JPEG recording, the S1 can also record files in the RAW, or RAW+JPEG, formats to provide greater editing capabilities during post-production.
  • Motion Panorama 360 allows you to record expansive views up to 360° wide in a seamless, sweeping manner.
  • Dynamic Range (HDR) uses multi frame technology to capture three consecutive images of the same scene (one over-exposed, one under-exposed, and one normally-exposed) and combines the three into a single image in order to garner more highlight and shadow detail than is possible with a single exposure.
  • Zoom bracketing mode records three sequential images to be taken at varying magnifications to provide you with different compositions of the same subject.
  • Natural Light & with Flash automatically records two images (one with flash, one without) for those instances where you can't decide the better way to photograph in darker situations.
  • Pro Low-light Mode is ideally suited to working with stationary subjects and helps to increase sensitivity and lessen noise by compositing four exposures into a single frame for greater image clarity.
  • Face Tracking Autofocus couples with Face Detection in order to optimize and maintain sharp focus on subjects' faces, even while moving or when working in difficult lighting conditions.
  • Face Detection optimizes photographs of people by detecting and biasing exposure and focus settings on up to 10 faces present within the scene. This feature also helps to reduce red-eye in flash-lit subjects.
  • Built-in social networking allows you to pre-tag and label images and video in-camera prior to offloading the imagery to your computer. Once tagged and delegated to the social platform of your choice, the images will be automatically uploaded once you connect the camera to your computer.
  • Micro Thumbnail View enables you to see up to 100 pictures on the rear LCD at a time, presented in a 10 x 10 gridded array of micro thumbnails. This allows you to quickly select the desired image from a vast image library.

Although my time with the Fuji S1 super-zoom was somewhat limited, it did not
take long for me to be impressed. Fast startup, fast zoom.
When I compare the image quality of the Fuji S1 side by side with the my Sony
HX200v, the Fuji S1 is a clear winner. The pictures are crisp and sharp. This
camera will compare to the new Sony HX400v. Upon first use, I immediately
noticed how the Fuji S1 fit well in my hands. It lightweight and easy to manage
and is a nice option for shooting without a tripod. It'd be great for traveling
and vacations. The weather resistance (both water and dust resistance) bridge
camera is another great plus and makes the camera perfect for unpredictable
weather conditions that you may come across in your travels to the beach,
jungle, cityscapes, or on hikes. As a nature photographer, I think the Fuju S1
is a fun camera and would be a helpful tool for those looking to enjoy
photography and also to get some great shots.

The super lens is a dream for birding, portraits of insects, and shots of
foliage. It should be noted, though, that even with fantastic image quality,
the Fuju S1 may not be ideal for capturing birds in flight ;-). I'll give it a
shot. However, the fact that the camera has 5 axis image stabilization is
      amazing.

The Fuji S1 may not be a DSLR, but for the quality of the images, the ease of
use, and affordable price, I'd be willing to rely on this super-zoom point and
shoot camera for just about any shot. This would be the camera to keep in the front
      seat of your car!
( Looking forward to see the new Sony HX400v) Fun times in the super zoom
      market.

I was in hopes that the Fugufilm S1 50X cmarea could replace my knock a round back-up Canon SX50. ( NOT SO ) Received the Fugi at noon today, and by 6PM it was going back in the box. Started out rough in that the DVD would not work an any of three computers. I down loaded instructions and charged up the battery. What a disipointment. This thing will not focus sharp an anything!! I read reviews in wich the general consensus was that it was not good for birders and other moving subjects, but all my subject mattrer is pretty much static in land scape and outdoor photography. I thought that tripod mounted, stabelizer off and timed shutter release I would overcome others comments on soft focus. Not So! After five hours, not one thing was sharp enough to compeat with a cheap cell phone. I like to check focus on my neighbors boat house siding about 150yrds away. The SX50 will focus in on the bolts that hold the siding on (sharp). The fugi S1 was so soft, you could not tell that it was corrigated siding. The focus peaking is almost unusable. only a white (only color) tiny twinkle even set on high. The manual focus wheel has no indicator on the LCD as to where you are. and just keeps turning with no change. At full zoom, it's pretty much unuseable. You have to remove the tripod mount plate, to get to the SD card.Honestly I really did want this weather sealed camera to take the p[lace of my well worn SX50 Larry

I'm a professional photographer and I wanted a all-use and light camera for travel and holidays (very well sealed), this camera works perfectly. Obviously it isn't the best sensor but that wasn't the idea. The lens is spectacular!

While I'm not a photographer by any means, I do enjoy this camera very much. It's auto sensing scene mode is great, stability while shooting in zoom produces great results, it's lightweight, and the large screen is great to show the details of each shot. I spent a few hours shooting about 300 pics, with no meaningful use of the battery.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

This is a good bridge camera. I bought it after three to four months of research. I took this camera for my recent trip to Europe so to avoid my DSLR and heavy lens.Camera features are good for a bridge camera. Do not consider it a DSLR or a point and shoot. For me the positive points are RAW format, 2.8 lens, panorama feature, video making, you can take photos in JPEG mode when shooting a video clip. Shots are crisp, clear, focus is easy, fast start up, view finder and other useful features as pro low light.Negative points are poor doccumentation. You need to web search (you tube) for getting to know and take advantage of its full features. When in panorama or advance shooting shooting mode then you can not shoot in RAW. Its built in flash is not so good.Over all highly recommended for those looking something in between a DSLR and a point and shoot camera. I found its weight was not bad to carry it all day long on my shoulder.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

Still have our Nikon D50, collection of Lens, but this camera was a great upgrade & choice for today's technology, ease of use, and general FANTASTIC multi-purpose point-n-shoot camera.
The only thing I miss about the DSLR is the real view finder...Looking through at a digital image screen just doesn't seem right. SO...just use the massive LCD screen that looks great!

I've owned a Canon Rebel and have always loved it. My wife and I like to travel to Europe and have begun seeing the benefits of packing light. So with the Fuji S1 I don't have to pack any extra lenses. I've been using it before our trip and am impressed with the clarity and color of the pictures. This camera has a lot to offer and to be honest I've only scratched the surface of what it can do. Wifi capable and weather resistant and other features seems to put it above the other brands, especially in its price range.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

We bought this camera for one main reason. Weather resistance! When we arrived in Costa Rica it was raining and continued to rain for our first 5 days. All through that time the camera only had issues when it was very humid and the lens fogged over. We took it zip lining in a pretty heavy down pour and it took great pictures and never stopped working! This camera is great, except when massively humid, even then we kept the lens cap off and it equalized a bit. Excellent buy!

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

I am not a professional, simply an enthusiast.
I purchased this camera 2 weeks ago. I had compared it Lumix FZ200 and Sony HX400V.
I immediately put the Sony out due to processing speed, and Lumix also because of its low-zoom capability 'cause I needed a high-power zoom.
The camera is pretty robust, good material, and very good lens in deed - another factor affecting my choice.
I started testing immediately for low-light conditions, pre-programmed features, macro mode specifically. This camera is almost perfect. I cannot believe what it does with SRAuto mode. I almost did not use any manual functionality. And being weather resistant, it would fit best for my travel to Mongolia and Gobi desert.
There are a couple of small glitches though. I would prefer to have a more flexible LCD screen; Lens hood and adapter ring cannot be used at the same time - if you use hood, no way to use a filter.
                  I definitely suggest this camera.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

I am a pro photographer and don't want to carry around my gear on family outings (been there and done that) and have been looking for a decent small fun camera with good image quality, well I found it in the Fujifilm S1. For the most part I put it on the SR Auto mode and let it do it's thing and it's thing is fantastic. I have not experienced and shutter lag problems mentioned in some of the posts. Also it is great for my wife who loves it also. I love the fact that I can shoot in RAW with this also as that if what I always shoot in.
This is a great little camera and I would say "go and get it" if you want a great fun to carry camera.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

This is my 2nd Bridge camera. Bought 2 weeks ago. Bought because of an upcoming trip to Mt. Rainier and it is weather & sand resistant. Large bright, clear 3" LCD screen & viewfinder. When holding it there is an indent for your right middle finger which makes it more comfortable to hold. Well thought out design. I did not find it to be too heavy. The 50X zoom is real good & fast but need a tripod at 50x - too much shake. It focuses real fast also. I like having 2 controls for the zoom and the left one has a speed adjustment. All the shooting modes work as described. I am impressed by the Motion Panorama 360 which seemlessly stiches your entire panorama. The Fisheye under the Advanced filters works well. So do all the other Advanced filters. The 1080P HD movie function is crisp & clear, the stereo sound is real good and picks up everything well. If you zoom while recording you will hear the lens hum. You'll need to buy a HDMI to Mini HDMI cable to connect to a TV. I have not tried the WIFI feature yet.

If you're new to these advanced cameras, don't worry, just use the SRAuto mode and have fun. I am very pleased with the camera and would highly recommend it.

Note: You are not told about this until you open the documentation; if you use the adapter ring AR-S1 (needed for filters), you can not use the lens hood LH-S1 at the same time. Also, if you use the adapter ring with the protector filter PRF-72, you can not use the lens cap.

Wild Life and Birding. Zoom takes you into another world of images. Fast focus and adjustment to light conditions. JPG image very responsive to Post processing with Photoshop CC. Bird tracking with variable speed focus button on top and 50% drop back button on left side of barrel lets you instantly get bigger field and yet snap back to full focus when bird is relocated. Just set it to full automatic and take hundreds of images. Review on computer screen and delete those which are not keepers.

As photo enthusiasts we wanted features such as zoom, low light, fast bird captures, water and sand resistant and be lightweight. It is great doing shots through a moving vehicle. We want to have something to grow with. It has amazed us in all those ways, especially for the price. It takes time to focus but at 50x what can one expect? The only design issue is the door which holds the battery and card sometimes opens. One has to be sure it is closed. We take an average of 300 pictures a day, so another battery is going to have to be ordered.

Ordered this cam for my fiancee as she wanted to get started with her own cam. Our 5D MKiii's were a bit overwhelming at his point for her. She picked up the cam first day out of box and has been rocking with it ever since !!! Crisp LCD, great bokeh, being FUJI S3 owners (wish we still had a few) fast focus, great macro, and was a cinch for her to zip thru the menu's and learn on her own.
This is a great starter cam without the learning curve of lens twisting. I am sure one the 5D MKiii's will soon be an advancement for her. The S1 has opened up the photographer fever .....

I wish this had a little bit bigger sensor. I don't like the battery how it can fit in the wrong way tough to do in the pitch black.

This is a excellent camera, It does what i need and it looks sharp doing it, has a nice rubber feel texture to it which makes it seem durable and feels great in your grip. I has a good light weight to it, I can carry this all day in the hand. I go between Nevada and Washington so to have the dust and water resistance was the selling feature for me since i hike and camp.

I have a Fujifilm S602Z that has great features but is getting old so I thought I'd stay with Fuji for this Finepix S1 for the features I'm used to and of course the great zoom capabilities along with wifi. I've stopped using my Nikon SLR years ago knowing I can live with something "less", this bridge camera will be what I shoot from now on. Of the pictures I've taken, they all look really good although I haven't loaded many of them on a computer and looked for detailed flaws which I expect. I rated the camera at 4 stars only because I haven't went through all the features/capabilities.

I am a pro photographer that runs a studio as a secondary job. I was looking for a camera to use for vacations and family events, so as not to use my business equipment. This covers the needs exceptionally well. I have no complaints whatsoever.

Comments about Fujifilm FinePix S1 Digital Camera:

( Looking forward to see the new Sony HX400v) Fun times in the super zoom
                                market.
