The black HC-V250 Full HD Camcorder from Panasonic features Full HD 1920 x 1080 recording, along with a 50x optical and 90x intelligent zoom. Intelligent zoom uses a new technology to capture video even when the optical range is exceeded, and the subjects are very far away, like at sporting stadiums.

The camcorder also includes built-in Wi-Fi and is NFC (near-field communication) enabled for even more flexibility when pairing up with optional HDTVs and mobile devices. They also include a Baby Monitor feature that allows you to check in on a sleeping baby in another room (when the camcorder is connected to your home network with a smartphone). You can speak to the baby using your smartphone and even be notified when the baby cries or when a voice is detected in the room. Ustream allows you to live stream video over the Internet as well.

The HC-V250 also contains a high-sensitivity gyro sensor that detects hand movement at approximately 4000 times per second to aid the lens in applying correction, so that your movies jitter less when walking and shooting. Built-in modes like Miniature Effect, 8mm Movie, Silent Movie, and Time Lapse Recording also help to inspire and creatively control your shooting. There's also a BSI sensor that helps you shoot in low light situations.

50x Optical Zoom and 90x Intelligent Zoom
Intelligent zoom uses super resolution technology for imaging at HD quality even when the optical range is exceeded. This function enables shooting sharp close-ups of faraway subjects. This is effective when you are separated from the subject by a considerable distance such as when shooting outdoor events.
Built-In Wi-Fi & NFC One Touch Connectivity
Built-in 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi for home or office network compatibility is featured in these camcorders, along with NFC (near-field communication) functionality, for hooking up your camcorder to NFC enabled devices. You can also live stream video to paired devices over the Internet using Ustream.
Baby Monitor Feature
The camera includes a Baby Monitor feature which enables you to check on a sleeping baby in another room with the camcorder connected to home network with a smartphone. You can speak to the baby using your smartphone, or have notification sent to your smartphone when your baby's crying voice or other sound is detected.
Power O.I.S.+ Optical Image Stabilization with Active Mode & O.I.S. Lock
A high-sensitivity gyro sensor that detects hand movement with a precision of approximately 4000 times per second and linear motors are used to drive the lens to apply correction. This minimizes the effects of hand movement when shooting during high-magnification zoom or while walking. The camcorder also supports a stabilization lock feature.
Creative Control Effects
The built-in Creative Control modes include Miniature Effect, 8mm Movie, Silent Movie, and Time Lapse Recording. They enable you to add effects to your video for further enhancing your creativity.
Backside Illuminated Sensor
A backside illuminated sensor is incorporated in the camcorder for recording sharp images even in dimly-lit locations. This enables recording of sharp, high-quality full-HD video with minimal noise.

I just purchased the camera and plan to use it for a project involving an RC Dolly and Gimble for multi-angle shooting where a gopro is used in the centre of the action. To date my main exposure to film works has been with action cameras, dslrs, cscs and phones - so I thought it was time to trial something dedicated to video. The camera was simple enough to figure out.. few things to work out but its okay. The manual included in the box is not great - the downloaded one is far more comprehensive. The only reason I bought this camera over others in similar price range was the 50x optical zoom; as I will be using it to film RC planes in the air which have gopros strapped to them. Youtube provided some awesome examples of the zoom capacity (equivlent to about 1200mm where my current cameras/lens combos max at 330mm). Forget about the 'intellegent' and 'digital' zooms, which are pointless on any product. One thing I missed during my research was the model of the actual batteries used in them. The battery is vw-vbt190 - its a REALLY expensive battery. CHEAPEST I can find this for is about $, but ranges anywhere up to $, almost the cost of the camera. I was choosing between this and a Sony HDR-CX240 for $ less, but got persauded by the optical zoom difference (sony 27x vs panasonic 50x). As it turns out, it would cost significantly less to keep the Sony running for an entire day on cheap batteries - and I already have heaps of spare batteries that would have worked on the Sony :( For comparison sake, you can pickup batteries that will fit most of the current Sony camcorders for <$ each (BX-1's).So to get more than 1hr recording per session out of this camera, you need to spend up big on the spare batteries. This is a bother as I like to pack plenty of spares to push through a day or recording without breaks.I have only tested it in low lighting so far, seems fine there so expecting much better in daylight. Taking photos in low light needs physical stabilisation (as with a phone). I'm still trying to work out how effieciently the autofocus works and minimum focussing distances with the zoom. There are some options as well that keep resetting after saving which is a bit annoying.Am yet to try phone control.

I recently purchased this camera to replace the Panasonic HDC-TM90 that had a bad LCD screen. I was very disappointed that the new HC-V250 had no camera flash too take pictures at night or in dark rooms. If you enjoy taking pictures in low light do not buy this camera. The videos look good but the no flash on the camera is a downside.

Comments about HC-V250 Full HD Camcorder:

We plan on using this for family events, sport events for grandchildren, and school events.

It is lightweight, easy to use, and the video quality is really good. Adding a 32 gbyte card and an extra battery gives us the capability to take as much movie sequences we want at events as well as the battery support for it.

We particularly liked the zoom ability, and have found the 50x zoom to be extremely useful. We have not run into any lighting conditions that prove to be a problem for this camera.

          Good home fun camera

          By Jameserzone

Comments about HC-V250 Full HD Camcorder (Red):

I shoot professionally and have big fancy expensive cameras too. I don't want to keep those expensive cameras and lenses in the glove compartment or lug them around to family events where they'll get banged around. I also don't want my pro gear and videos mixing up with personal videos which is why I got this tiny cheap camcorder. I wouldn't use this camera for anything other than family home videos or filming your kids games. It's zoom capabity is very impressive which would be great for little league when your kid is 100 feet away. It also works pretty well in low light and has decent presets like action and portrait and low light settings. The sheer size and weight is fantastical small and light and could fit in your cargo pants pocket with ease. The wifi signal in baby monitor mode connected to an iPhone is spotty but that could be my internet capacity. I do hope to use it as a baby monitor eventually. If you're looking for a very basic and super cheap and decent home camera, this is a good choice. I don't want to clog up and use my iPhone for videos so I got this as a designated kid camera. It does not include an SD card which you'll need. I got a 64Gb card which will hold a lot of video and I also bought the 5 hour extra battery which is not cheap at $69. The red one was $30 less than the black one which I put towards the SD card. You can't go wrong for only $170. Just don't have professional expectations.

It is a lot of camera for the price. I like that it also records in 1080p MP4 and 720p MP4 because I mostly wanted it for YouTube videos and don't always need 1080p 60fps. Remember to get the SD card when you order the camera because the camera has no onboard memory.

Comments about HC-V250 Full HD Camcorder:

I recently purchased this camera to replace the Panasonic HDC-TM90 that had a bad LCD screen. I was very disappointed that the new HC-V250 had no camera flash too take pictures at night or in dark rooms. If you enjoy taking pictures in low light do not buy this camera. The videos look good but the no flash on the camera is a downside.
