The black Nikon D3300 DSLR Camera is a compact and versatile camera featuring a DX-format 24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor. The sensor and processor combine to realize high-resolution imaging, notable low-light sensitivity to an expandable ISO 25600, continuous shooting to 5 fps, and full HD 1080p video recording capabilities. Additionally, the sensor design omits the traditional optical low-pass filter in order to gain the utmost sharpness and resolution from both photos and videos. These imaging assets are complemented by an 11-point autofocus system, which provides quick and accurate focusing capabilities to suit working with a variety of subject types in nearly any lighting situation. A range of shooting modes and features are also available to help creatively accentuating your imagery, including an Easy Panorama mode as well as Picture Control settings for in-camera adjustment of the color and contrast qualities of your photos and movies.

For live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation, a large 3.0" 921k-dot LCD monitor is available and features a wide 160° viewing angle to better support working from high and low angles. Also enhancing the viewing and shooting abilities of the D3300, the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter can be used to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for wirelessly transferring imagery and remotely controlling the camera from a linked Android or iOS mobile device.

Included with the D3300 camera body is the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens; a standard zoom providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 27-82.5mm. This lens incorporates a robust VR image stabilization system, which helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed steps to benefit working in low-light conditions. A Super Integrated Coating reduces flare and ghosting to optimize image clarity, contrast, and color neutrality and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm works to create a pleasing out-of-focus quality in shallow depth of field images.

24.2MP DX-Format Sensor and EXPEED 4 Processor
The 24.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 processor work together to produce overall high image quality with notable detail, dynamic range, color accuracy, and low-light sensitivity to a native ISO 12800, which is further expandable to ISO 25600. Additionally, the sensor's design omits an optical low-pass filter in order to acquire the greatest amount sharpness and detail from subjects. The EXPEED 4 processor also enables a wealth of speed throughout the camera system, including support for full HD 1080p movie recording and a full-resolution continuous shooting rate of 5 fps.
Multi-CAM 1000 Autofocus Sensor
Benefitting the high image quality is an apt AF system that employs 11 distinct AF points to quickly acquire focus in a range of lighting conditions from -1 to +19 EV.
Full HD Movie Recording
Full HD 1920 x 1080p movie recording is supported in multiple frame rates up to 60 fps, as well as HD 720p and SD 480p in multiple frame rates, in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. During recording, full-time autofocus can be employed, with face-detection and subject-tracking capabilities, for ensured sharpness with a wide variety of subject types. A built-in monaural microphone can be used to record high-quality sound or, alternatively, a microphone input is integrated into the body design to support the use of an external microphone for enhanced quality and control over audio recordings.
Body Design
The D3300 integrates a large 3.0" 921k-dot vari-angle LCD monitor, which features a 160° viewing angle to better support viewing capabilities from high and low working angles. Alternatively, a bright pentamirror optical viewfinder is also integrated into the design for precise eye-level viewing and real-time monitoring of subjects.

A built-in pop-up flash is also available for additional illumination when working in low-light conditions and supports Nikon's i-TTL flash metering system. A hot shoe can be used, too, for connection and optional external flash for even greater lighting control.
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II Lens
Included with the camera body is the standard zoom AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens, which provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 27-82.5mm. Designed to be as compact and lightweight as possible, this lens features a retractable lens barrel design that extends 2.6" from the camera. Benefitting the low-light imaging capabilities of the D3300, VR (Vibration Reduction) technology is incorporated into the lens' design to provide up to 4 stops of compensation against camera shake for cleaner, clearer imagery. Additionally, a Super Integrated Coating (SIC) has also been applied to lens elements to maintain true color fidelity and contrast by suppressing flare and ghosting.
Other Camera Features
  • The optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter can be used to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for instantly transferring imagery and remotely viewing a live view image from a linked mobile device.
  • Easy Panorama Mode simplifies the creation of panoramic images by allowing you to capture a high-resolution single image simply by panning across the scene.

This is my first digital SLR in re-entering my photography hobby. I had a lot of experience with film in my old Olympus OM1 and OM2 many years ago with the most complex work coming from auto race photography. The D3300 arrived the afternoon that I was leaving for a full race weekend and its first use was at the track with the cars at full speed. I was able to understand all of the controls quickly and create some amazing speed shots on the first day with panning to create a blurred background and an in-focus car. Color saturation and exposure were both great and the ease of adapting from my old film knowledge to a new digital platform was surprisingly simple. Once I got away from the "normal" file default settings and set the image quality to "fine," things improved again. This seems like a good starting piece of equipment for a hobbyist like me.

Bought it for walk-around. It's nice little light camera and the kit lens is sharp (though at wide end the lens distortiobn can put some people off to a certain extent.) overall it's a good combo. The issue that I have is with the LCD, which shows some greenish color cast in shadows. So in other words, it needs a trip back to Nikon so they can adjust the LCD white balance via firmware. The greenish shadow color cast is only on the LCD image playback, and it doesn't affect captured image nor it affects Live View. Thinking about either exchanging or returning. Haven't decided yet. Given dismal quality control at Nikon assembly lines, I have almost lost my confidence for Nikon products completely because almost every new Nikon camera and lens that I purchased since 2009 has required at least a trip or two back to Nikon for warranty service right off the bat.

Although I've only used this a few times, I absolutely love it! It's light weight with a whole bunch of features that I can't wait to try. Heading to Disney in a few days and can't wait to try it out there.

If you're looking for an affordable, quality camera this is the way to go.

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

This is a fantastic inexpensive camera to start out with. For a starter consumer grade model, it does a wonderful job. I've shot hundreds of photos with it already in the week or so that I've owned it. The 18-55mm lens that it comes with is quite nice. It provides for good wide shots while also giving you the option to get a bit more up close and personal with whatever you're shooting. When I was out shooting a crime scene at night (accident with a train in the area), I had the ISO cranked up to 6400 and while it was somewhat grainy, the pictures still came out pretty crisp when I nailed the focus. I would also recommend to jump straight out of auto mode, the M, A, and S modes are fairly intuitive if you understand the relationships between shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. I'm fairly new to photography and have even found myself taking some neat pictures in the manual mode, so don't be afraid, it's quite easy to pick up. Can't wait to take this thing out more, it's been a blast and their are many lenses that are compatible with this camera, I've already bought a 55-200mm which opens up a whole new world to the sorts of pictures that this camera can take. I would 100% recommend this camera.

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

I'm a business freelancer, avid traveller, and amateur photographer, so it was time to upgrade from my Canon G10 to an entry level DSLR. I'm blown away with the quality of the camera, but it's B&H that is the true hero here. I'm military stationed overseas and getting a camera shipped here is difficult because of the laws around sending lithium batteries. @ and many others wouldn't even try, but B&H decided they'd install the batteries to make sure they could send the camera legally. I was blown away, I had given up at this point and assumed I wasn't going to get a camera sent. THANK YOU B&H!!!!!When you compare it against the other entry level DSLRs, the D3300 outshines them in specs and across many reviews. The price is substantially lower, the quality is better, and the camera is smaller and more portable. I'd love to have a tilting touch screen, but I decided the image quality was more important. Now even mundane photos look incredible.

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

Bottom Line is, I would recommend this camera to anyone starting out with DSLR. As well as, any pro who needs a beater to do time lapse, and for anyone considering a Mirrorless for the compactness of street photography. I got this camera because someone stole my D3200. It's the best value for a DSLR, and I use it for 4K time-lapse, video, and street photography. No crook is going to deny me of my photography. PROS: I like the color depth, the video mode of 60p at full HD that captures a lot more data for processing than the D3200 and D7100. And it may sound cheesy but I really like the Easy Panorama function. Also, 24mpx sensor captures huge JPEG files for time-lapse processing. And for RAW files, side by side testing with my D7100 in 12bit mode, both have identical image quality: I guess due to the No OLP filter. However, the 14bit losses file of the D7100 captures more data and is way better for processing dramatic colors and dynamic range. CONS: A little less dynamic range than the D3200, no hot shoe cover, and no viewfinder cover. Also, the newer kit lens is ideal smaller and faster than the older 18-55mm VR kit lens, the older kit lens is a little sharper wide open. I don't know if it's just this lens, but I find the older/larger 18-55 kit VR kit lens a little better in image quality. Anyway, IMO Nikon has always made the best low cost DSLR. It is packed with a lot of modern features for a great price. And this huge paragraph is written this way because, my reviews are not displayed with paragraphs, even though I write it proper. FYI, if you do time-lapse in JPEG, you can get over 1300 shots out of one battery charge.

This was my first DSLR, which I took to Antarctica. I love the fact that the camera is small and light. It was a great choice. I love the red color. On a trip with many people with black cameras, left no confusion which one was mine.

This camera has COMPLETELY exceeded my expectations! From the molded body for an easy grip, to the menus and quick-start at boot-up it is A-1. Each shot provides plenty of data for determining a desired shot on the spot. Buffering enables shooting quickly and this, coupled with the small body size, facilitates ease when working with people. Accurate color, the image quality is excellent. All this plus it mounts my original AI lenses--wow! VERY happy.

I use this as a nature and general shooting camera.

The sensor is great, images are clear, not a lot of noise, and color is vivid. Controls are familiar and easy to manipulate if you are moving within the Nikon family of SLR/DSLR. The fact it came with a quality lens should not be overlooked. This is a great value.

Coming from a point and shoot user, glad I chose this as my first DSLR. I've really enjoyed learning the different elements of photography while not getting frustrated, or breaking the bank. The D3300 is easy to navigate, offers helpful hints, allows the user so much control, and takes beautiful pictures. Just jump in and experiment, or you could set it to auto and let the camera do all the work for you (but where's the fun in that). I trust the brand Nikon and look forward to elevating my ability with this camera.

It has many options that I am still learning about. If you are like me and use your camera to photograph normal everyday life you will do well with this camera.

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

I have spent a year shooting landscapes with a D3200 I got as a hand down from my wife when I bought her a D610. It was great for teaching me the basics of how a DLSR works but the images were notably soft when viewing at 100%. I wanted crisper images like she gets, but I didn't have a budget for another D610. So I took the trade in option and got this D3300 as it had many reviews saying it shoots crisper without the AA filter which is used on the D3200. The reviews I read are correct. I can see a difference. I'm a happy guy (for now...)
