The black Nikon D3300 DSLR Camera is a compact and versatile camera featuring a DX-format 24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 image processor. The sensor and processor combine to realize high-resolution imaging, notable low-light sensitivity to an expandable ISO 25600, continuous shooting to 5 fps, and full HD 1080p video recording capabilities. Additionally, the sensor design omits the traditional optical low-pass filter in order to gain the utmost sharpness and resolution from both photos and videos. These imaging assets are complemented by an 11-point autofocus system, which provides quick and accurate focusing capabilities to suit working with a variety of subject types in nearly any lighting situation. A range of shooting modes and features are also available to help creatively accentuating your imagery, including an Easy Panorama mode as well as Picture Control settings for in-camera adjustment of the color and contrast qualities of your photos and movies.

For live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation, a large 3.0" 921k-dot LCD monitor is available and features a wide 160° viewing angle to better support working from high and low angles. Also enhancing the viewing and shooting abilities of the D3300, the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter can be used to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for wirelessly transferring imagery and remotely controlling the camera from a linked Android or iOS mobile device.

Included with the D3300 camera body is the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens; a standard zoom providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 27-82.5mm. This lens incorporates a robust VR image stabilization system, which helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by up to four shutter speed steps to benefit working in low-light conditions. A Super Integrated Coating reduces flare and ghosting to optimize image clarity, contrast, and color neutrality and a rounded seven-blade diaphragm works to create a pleasing out-of-focus quality in shallow depth of field images.

24.2MP DX-Format Sensor and EXPEED 4 Processor
The 24.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 4 processor work together to produce overall high image quality with notable detail, dynamic range, color accuracy, and low-light sensitivity to a native ISO 12800, which is further expandable to ISO 25600. Additionally, the sensor's design omits an optical low-pass filter in order to acquire the greatest amount sharpness and detail from subjects. The EXPEED 4 processor also enables a wealth of speed throughout the camera system, including support for full HD 1080p movie recording and a full-resolution continuous shooting rate of 5 fps.
Multi-CAM 1000 Autofocus Sensor
Benefitting the high image quality is an apt AF system that employs 11 distinct AF points to quickly acquire focus in a range of lighting conditions from -1 to +19 EV.
Full HD Movie Recording
Full HD 1920 x 1080p movie recording is supported in multiple frame rates up to 60 fps, as well as HD 720p and SD 480p in multiple frame rates, in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. During recording, full-time autofocus can be employed, with face-detection and subject-tracking capabilities, for ensured sharpness with a wide variety of subject types. A built-in monaural microphone can be used to record high-quality sound or, alternatively, a microphone input is integrated into the body design to support the use of an external microphone for enhanced quality and control over audio recordings.
Body Design
The D3300 integrates a large 3.0" 921k-dot vari-angle LCD monitor, which features a 160° viewing angle to better support viewing capabilities from high and low working angles. Alternatively, a bright pentamirror optical viewfinder is also integrated into the design for precise eye-level viewing and real-time monitoring of subjects.

A built-in pop-up flash is also available for additional illumination when working in low-light conditions and supports Nikon's i-TTL flash metering system. A hot shoe can be used, too, for connection and optional external flash for even greater lighting control.
AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II Lens
Included with the camera body is the standard zoom AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR II lens, which provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 27-82.5mm. Designed to be as compact and lightweight as possible, this lens features a retractable lens barrel design that extends 2.6" from the camera. Benefitting the low-light imaging capabilities of the D3300, VR (Vibration Reduction) technology is incorporated into the lens' design to provide up to 4 stops of compensation against camera shake for cleaner, clearer imagery. Additionally, a Super Integrated Coating (SIC) has also been applied to lens elements to maintain true color fidelity and contrast by suppressing flare and ghosting.
Other Camera Features
  • The optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter can be used to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for instantly transferring imagery and remotely viewing a live view image from a linked mobile device.
  • Easy Panorama Mode simplifies the creation of panoramic images by allowing you to capture a high-resolution single image simply by panning across the scene.
  • A helpful Guide Mode is available to aid in becoming acquainted with the D3300 through a series of step-by-step tutorials.

Utilizing the EXPEED 4 processor's power, a more controlled image will be produced with brightness values closer to how they are naturally seen. This mode is suitable for working with moving subjects.

Bottom Line is, I would recommend this camera to anyone starting out with DSLR. As well as, any pro who needs a beater to do time lapse, and for anyone considering a Mirrorless for the compactness of street photography. I got this camera because someone stole my D3200. It's the best value for a DSLR, and I use it for 4K time-lapse, video, and street photography. No crook is going to deny me of my photography. PROS: I like the color depth, the video mode of 60p at full HD that captures a lot more data for processing than the D3200 and D7100. And it may sound cheesy but I really like the Easy Panorama function. Also, 24mpx sensor captures huge JPEG files for time-lapse processing. And for RAW files, side by side testing with my D7100 in 12bit mode, both have identical image quality: I guess due to the No OLP filter. However, the 14bit losses file of the D7100 captures more data and is way better for processing dramatic colors and dynamic range. CONS: A little less dynamic range than the D3200, no hot shoe cover, and no viewfinder cover. Also, the newer kit lens is ideal smaller and faster than the older 18-55mm VR kit lens, the older kit lens is a little sharper wide open. I don't know if it's just this lens, but I find the older/larger 18-55 kit VR kit lens a little better in image quality. Anyway, IMO Nikon has always made the best low cost DSLR. It is packed with a lot of modern features for a great price. And this huge paragraph is written this way because, my reviews are not displayed with paragraphs, even though I write it proper. FYI, if you do time-lapse in JPEG, you can get over 1300 shots out of one battery charge.

Bought it for walk-around. It's nice little light camera and the kit lens is sharp (though at wide end the lens distortiobn can put some people off to a certain extent.) overall it's a good combo. The issue that I have is with the LCD, which shows some greenish color cast in shadows. So in other words, it needs a trip back to Nikon so they can adjust the LCD white balance via firmware. The greenish shadow color cast is only on the LCD image playback, and it doesn't affect captured image nor it affects Live View. Thinking about either exchanging or returning. Haven't decided yet. Given dismal quality control at Nikon assembly lines, I have almost lost my confidence for Nikon products completely because almost every new Nikon camera and lens that I purchased since 2009 has required at least a trip or two back to Nikon for warranty service right off the bat.

    Pro Feature entry level.

    By NYC Compro

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

With so many pro features within this Nikon body,it seems more than an entry level camera .. Yes, it's simple enough for the new user who is taking the jump into DSLR photography, but as a pro, I have found many of the features I enjoy with my D4s, DF and D810.
Obviously, those cameras are in a different use category, and you pay for high end features and construction that you won't find in the D3300, but for great Nikon quality to aid in becoming a more advanced photographer, the D3300 is an incredible value for the price.

I was delighted by how light this camera is! I was able to use it right out of the box in auto mode. The advanced features give me great flexibility. I take pictures of everything from people/events to buildings. The lens that came with the camera is versatile and gives me good results. I like the camera bag that came with the kit. It has room for my telephoto lens as well as the camera. I bought this camera for work and I am so happy with it that I will probably buy one for my personal use. My only con is that it took me awhile to remember to press the compact lens release button (Although the camera tells you right on the screen when you forget!).

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

For a beginner this camera is amazing, I chose it especially because it is a little lighter than the other brands that I was researching and it has some extra features in comparison with its predecessor D3200, panoramic picture for instance.
If you are really new in the DSLR field you have to get used with the camera size, it is not a camera that you're going to carry all the time. And maybe you would like to try some lenses before buy this kit, because if your budget allows you could buy the kit with 2 lenses.
Well... I'm glad I bought it mainly because my academic works have much more quality now.

I never realized how dependent I had become on a zoom lens to compose pictures until i got this camera without one.
After learning where the controls were I was very impressed with the camera's low light picture taking abilities. I was able to get better low light pictures that my other camera wouldn't have gotten.

I expected to be able to see through the lens out of the box but had to use the live view button to do this. noticed that it drains the battery rather quickly. Having a backup battery took the sting out of that.

Day light images are awesome; crystal clear. Like the fact it lets me take 6k x 4k hi resolution pictures. Details are excellent.

Having used a digital camera before I knew what the symbols were even being located on different parts of the camera. This helped immensely

I have had the camera for a week now and it gets better and easier to use the more familiar I get with it. With the 200 pictures I've taken already I can see that this is a very good camera and would recommend it to anyone.

It is a challenge to learn to compose pictures without the zoom and since I like a challenges this is working out ok. Besides I can buy a zoom anytime i want to.

Comments about D3300 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm Lens (Black):

Camera is great for the entry level into DSLR. It is best to start off with a camera in your budget right now and learn how how to use the feature in a basic camera then jumping into a more expensive camera. I enjoy the versatility the camera gives and over all design. The only part of the camera that I am not a fan of is the loud servo motors on the stock lens when it is trying to auto focus. I also recommend that you try to use the viewfinder more often than the live view. The shutter is quicker and your picture will be less blurry. One problem I do have is taking pictures of my black dog, camera usually says subject is too dark and the contrast is not always clear when using auto settings so I recommend to tinker with it depending on the situation, do always use the auto setting.

Comparing to D3200 it feels a bit more plasticky but it's forgivable for the slightly upgraded features. It seems like the faster processor makes focusing faster but it could be all in my head. Overall good camera with not much to complain about at the asking price

Coming from point and shoot cameras and a bridge camera, this is my first foray into DSLR. Controls are not too complicated and the pictures come out great. Love the continuous shooting for sporting events. Got the 200mm lens and can't wait to get more.

As the sister of a professional photographer, I don't like to look at pictures taken by just any camera. I previously had several low-quality cameras, and I got so tired of the fuzziness of the pictures they took.
This camera is exactly what I wanted! I always use the Manual setting, which is very easy, once you get used to it. The photo quality is spectacular! A very nice camera for those who are starting out, or who take pictures as a hobby.
