      REVIEW:
Overall, we're very satisfied with this printer. We are a prosumer customer having owned numerous photo-quality HP printers/MFP's over the past 13 years.

Speed is average to fast. Quality is excellent - although I suspect high-quality papers contribute a lot (the Canon photo papers mentioned below have been excellent). Ink droplets are very minute, the smallest I've seen in any system I've owned. Color blending is also excellent - see the example Bluebird picture. Grayscale images are also excellent - much better than HP systems only utilizing a single black cartridge.

We did notice the images were a bit warm; again, see the example photos. Although this is nice in many photos, it posed a problem when we tried to print pictures of fall foliage - easy to correct in Photoshop, however.

B&W images printed slightly dark - but not so dark that detail was lost like other systems I've owned. After dozens of printed photos across many size spectrum, the printer reports ink levels at merely half of the shipped cartridge capacity - so I'm assuming cost per page (cpp) will be acceptable.

Two thoughts - one, I wish the printer could be configured to access a wireless network for print sharing, or had an Ethernet port. Although wireless connectivity to the printer may work well for devices like cameras, we'll always print from a computer after post-processing; the way in which the wireless is implemented from a computer is a hassle.

Last thought: Lots of plastic like most products these days, which I'm not opposed to if properly implemented. The chassis is strong and built well, but the extendable paper 'flaps' for holding sheets as they are fed and exit could be built better. With dust concerns and opening/closing the system, I wonder how long they'll last.

PAPER TYPES TESTED: Canon Pro Platinum 8.5x11, Luster 13x19, Plus Gloss II 4x6.

COMPUTER & POST-PROCESSING: Dell systems connected via USB, using Photoshop & Lightroom CC.

      TESTING SCENARIO
In general, we post-process lightly, attempting to retain a realistic photo and HDR only when required. After the iP8720 arrived from B&H yesterday, we printed a wide variety of color and grayscale shots that had been post-processed, on three types of Canon paper.

PRODUCT PHOTOS were shot with a T1i, 10-22, no post-processing.

PRINTED PHOTOS used to test the product were lightning in Florida (B&W); Flowers from Iowa; Badlands National Park, and mountain bluebird from Yellowstone National Park. Additional photos for testing, not shown, include Yosemite National Park, Fall colors from Iowa/Wisconsin, Death Vally National Park, and Grand Teton National Park.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP8720 Wireless Inkjet Photo Printer:

Bought this printer to print 8x10 photos and on printable DVD's/Cd's. The addition of the grey ink tank, makes black and white prints look amazing. The DVD/CD quality is perfect, especially when printing on silver, hub printable discs.

Large foot print, definitely not a small printer, but you should expect that, being able to print 13x19 borderless prints.

Comparable to my last Epson, but a fraction of the price.

I purchased this printer to replace my aging printer which was of another brand.
I also wanted something that would print larger prints. I was surprised how accurate the colors are and am truly impressed by the print it produces. I have printed a few 4x6's and a few 8.5x11. I don't know how long the ink will last yet but I am definately impressed with the prints and would definately recommed this printer. Expecially at its price.

The only think I can say I dislike about it. It is large and bulky. But I knew that going in.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP8720 Wireless Inkjet Photo Printer:

I use this product to print images of my children for their grandparents and for my scrapbook. I also use it to print landscape scenery from my vacations. I have also used it to print out portraits from two weddings I photographed.

This printer is amazing. The clarity on paper is pretty much perfect. I have used HP glossy, Canon glossy, and Staples Matte photo papers, and been satisfied with all of my prints on those papers. (I could not use Staples glossy because the ink would not stick.)

Having the six cartridges must really make a difference. I was disappointed not to be able to use my ink cartridges from my previous printer (Canon i960), and since I am a regular shopper at Staples, I thought I would try out an HP printer. I was very disappointed and took it back for a full refund. Staples didn't have what I was looking for, so I turned to B&H and found exactly what I wanted for an acceptable price with no fee for shipping. Huzzah!

In addition to amazing photos, this printer comes with a Canon software package that makes me totally geek out about scrapbooking. It has free downloads for calendars, scrapbook pages, cards, and about anything you think you might be able to create on paper. It is so EASY!

The one downside to this printer that I've found is that it has no plain paper tray. Everything is fed in through the back, so I'm always pulling paper out and putting it back in, because I switch from photo to regular frequently and from 4X6 to 8.5X11 regularly. Minor issue, though, because it's very easy to load and unload the paper. I don't mind the price of the ink because I think the tanks last a long time, and I also think you get what you pay for.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP8720 Wireless Inkjet Photo Printer:

Printed a few pictures taken with my Canon 7d. The pictures are sharp and the colors are true to image. I also printed a black
and white picture taken with my 13 megapixel cell phone. To my surprise I was truly impressed with the shades of gray to black.
This printer replaces my long lasting Epson R800. I wanted something that could print larger pictures (13x19). My only disappointment
Is that it does not do roll paper, but I knew that before I purchased it. For the price I paid, I an extremely satisfied.
Took a little work but I was able to get both the USB and wifi connections to work at the same time. The printer is connected
directly to my desktop and I can print via wifi from my portable devices and laptop. All in all great features and prints.

Comments about Canon PIXMA iP8720 Wireless Inkjet Photo Printer:

The first one that arrived presented an error code at set up that I could not get past and much to the credit of Canon, an outstanding representative helped investigate over the phone and found that that particular printer was simply going to have to be replaced. The replacement that arrived from Canon produces outstanding images on 13x19 canvas and on Canon photo paper. This model was my choice over the pro series due to findings of research into the technology revealing that the refinement of ink delivered per a given surface area exceeded that of the pro series and, of course, the price was unbeatable. This prints high resolution faster than my HP Photosmart 3310 and in finer resolution than most any other printer available. I am actually excited to print things again!
