The Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case is a complete tripod system for video applications that will support cameras weighing up to 17.6 lb. The system has a maximum height of 63.8", folds down to 31.9", and weighs 10 lb.

This system includes the S8 Pro Video Head. Designed to give you more precise control, the head features stepless, continuous adjustment of both pan and tilt drag. This allows you to dial in the amount of tension you feel most comfortable with for a given shot. It can pan a full 360° as well as tilt forward (lens down) 90° and backward (lens up) 70°. To help compensate for cameras weighing different amounts, as well as adapt to payloads with varying centers of gravity, the head also features a four-step (0 - 3), adjustable counterbalance system. A 75mm half ball adapter is included and can be removed for attaching the head to other tripods, slider dollies, and other types of camera support that use a threaded 3/8"-16 stud.

The C3573F Series 3 CF tripod legs are made of Carbon Fiber. They are two stage legs, with three sections that are secured using flip-lock levers and include spiked feet for increased stability. The legs feature a spreader-less design with three discreet stops for locking them at different degrees of spread. In addition, they can be opened fully for very low-angle shooting.

S8 Pro Video Head

The removable pan bar handle can be mounted for left or right handed operation. Additionally, a second pan bar handle, such as the BS04, can be purchased if you will be using zoom and focus remotes or desire two-handed operation

Many 1sts for me in this tripod

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

When purchasing this tripod there are many 1sts for me with owning a tripod.
        First: carbon fiber sticks
        First: counter balance system
First: tripod with wide spreading legs (to get low)

Using this tripod it is supporting a Sony fs-700 rigged out many different ways up to approx. 16lbs.

I tell you this because I can not compare these firsts of mine to any other tripod system out there.
Some benefits that I like about the Carbon Fiber legs vs aluminum is that the CF doesn't get cold. I live a few hours from Canada and it gets -30 below 0 and when you shoot in that weather it takes very little time for heat to be sucked out of your hands. The CF legs are mostly resin and it doesn't have the temp transfer properties that aluminum does. Of course CF is lighter than aluminum, that is a benefit. Also CF doesn't transfer vibration nearly as much as aluminum.

A few recommendations for the design that I dont like. The locking levers are not sealed so you can get sand or moister inside where the grease is. Also the plastic cover is loose and can let in a lot of foreign contamination into the tripod mechanics.

A few features I really enjoy abou this tripod and reasons I purchased it over others. The legs are able to get very wide so you can get the tripod pretty low to the ground. My Davis & Sanford fm18 sticks do not do that. The foam pad on 1 of the legs is handy for when you are carrying the tripod. The telescoping arm is nice so you can compact it or extend it for your needs. I really like the counter balance system. It actually works. I have a Sony FS-700 and when I have that rigged out to about 15 lbs the level 3 counter balance does what it is suppose to.

Overall I get it 4 stars because it could be slightly improved. I do understand that it is among the cheapest of the carbon fiber tripod system but i wanted to try Benro out and it turns out I like it. For half the price of the Manfrotto equivelent I can't imagine justifying spending double for that. I do like Manfrotto tripods too.

        Hope this review helped
        Peace

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

Benro's general design philosophy is great, everything seems to be exactly where I need it, and well made with an awesome finish. I believe that this could be the best carbon fiber tripod at this price range.

Panning, tilt, everything is smooth with features to control the speed of each which although worried me in the fact that they would be complex and add some unnecessary knobs and such things, are actually perfectly implemented into the design and are hardly noticeable until I need them. Very well done Benro. Will be purchasing from this company in the future.

Interested in if they take a venture into very large/heavy rigs with legs and heads to accommodate. Well done.

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

After carting around a 12 kilo miller tripod and 15 kilo camera for 20 years I downsized to a Canon C100 and the Benro. This combo is great. The tripod is way better than I thought it would be for the price. The head is nice and large and all controls are easy to get to and the operation is super smooth. Just as a test I placed my crane on it, 12 kilos, the C100, 3 kilos and 20 kilos of counter balance even though the payload is rated at 7.8 kilos. The benro handled the 35 kilos without a problem. This of course was only a test I would not do this on a daily basis. The tripod arrived in Australia within 5 days. GREAT STUFF.

This tripod has all the features and build quality of tripods costing much more.

Having rented other high end video tripods in past the only difference between them and this one is this can hold less weight but it also weighs considerably less then,

If you know your rig wont go over 17 lb, then I'd get this one.

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

I am an indepedent filmmaker. This tripod is exceptional.

My only concern about this tripod was the weightiness, but the carbon fiber is extremely light compared to my expectations. I could carry it for long amounts of time before becoming tired. In addition, the carrying case is wonderful.

The fluid head is incredibly simple to use. I taught my friend every control in less than 5min. He had never worked with a tripod head before.

I haven't used this tripod extensively in the field, so I have no regrets about it yet. From what I can tell, this is an exceptional and simple tripod for a very reasonable price.

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

For the money, this is a solid tripod/head combo. I've successfully used if for a couple of shoots with my Sony FS-700 . The ability to get the head so low to the ground is nice. Also nice is the ability to use the head on a slider.

The only issue I can see is that the legs want to come out of their grooved slots and not retract. A simple rotation of the leg gets it back in the groove and the leg retracts as it should, but I'm a little worried about how this will develop over long-term use.

Without the leg/groove issues I'd give it five stars.

I love this tripod! the fluid head is nice and smooth. I love having the locking pan and tilt on the same side. it also has a counter weight and that is helpful. I love taking the head off so i can put it on a slider and i am ready to go. the level on the sticks is nice as well as the head. Bad things, one of the legs came out all the way at random when i first started using it so keeping the locks on the legs tight is important. and the battery that came with the light up bubble is not working. other then that its a great tripod for the price!

I got this to replace a Manfrotto 502 head. I also liked the sticks for weight and travel work. The ball level works nice for getting the head level quickly. Pan and tilt adjustment is great. Easy manfrotto style plate allows for interchange with other gear. The only downside I've found is that the tilt brake isn't as solid as it could be when used with a heave load. (slider) It performs well above a tripod in this price range.

My first outing with this tripod was a travel job. It held up great and the light weight was nice. I bought this to replace the Manfrotto 502. This head is a lot better. The controls for pan and tilt brake are in the correct place. The 3 step counterbalance worked well. I wish the pan had a better stepping mechanism. (spoiled from Sachtler 18). Also with a heavy load (slider) on this the tilt brake wouldn't stay rock steady. Probably too much weight.
The ball head is great for leveling. Fits snugly into included case. Manfrotto style plate is great for compatibility between rigs.

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

There is no better tripod for DSLR/Small Video Camera shooting for the price in my opinion. Lightweight, strong legs hold a ball-leveled head with lighted bubble. The fluid motions in both pan and tilt are better than most, the pan/tilt locks are in the perfect position and the counter balance is superb. The "ball" is also removable from the head giving you a flat base should you need it. I sometimes use this head on a camera slider so having the flat base option really works for me.

Sturdy and full featured. My only comment is that it is heavier that I expected.

Comments about Benro S8 Pro Video Head and C3573F Series 3 CF Tripod with Deluxe Carry Case:

This tripod set is most directly comparable to the Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 535 CF Tripod System with Carrying Bag, a system which gets great reviews here on B&H especially for the legs.

With my intended budget being closer to 500, I was also considering the Manfrotto MVH502A Fluid Head and 546B Tripod System. However, I had the opportunity to use the 502A head and I can confidently say that the S8 blows that one away. The S8 has every control you want, and none you don't need. Separate Pan and Tilt drag adjustments and locks, lightup bubble level on the head, and 75mm bowl for easy leveling.
Not only does it have the features you want, but it works to perfection. Movement from the head is just so silky smooth, that I couldn't imagine improving that aspect much at all.
As for the legs - I figured I was compromising by going with the standard 3-section sticks as opposed to the collapsing video style. Let's just say that these are PLENTY stable and nearly any angle.

What's the end summary? This tripod is very stable, very smooth, and very inexpensive. Sounds like a no brainer. HOWEVER - make sure you are prepared to spend some time at the gym if you'll be moving this around a lot. It's bulky, heavy, and difficult to carry outside of the case. I brought it to a wedding this past weekend and mainly kept it on the balcony, while sticking with the monopod most of the time. It's just too much to carry around everywhere. So make sure you know the use case and if you decide that planned, static shots are what you want, this is your obvious choice.
