The black Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera is a compact and versatile camera featuring a DX-format 24.2 megapixel CMOS sensor and EXPEED 3 image processor. The sensor and processor combine to realize high-resolution imaging, notable low-light sensitivity to an expandable ISO 12800, continuous shooting to 4 fps, and full HD 1080p video recording capabilities. These imaging assets are complemented by an 11-point autofocus system, which provides quick and accurate focusing capabilities to suit working with a variety of subject types in nearly any lighting situation. A range of shooting modes and features are also available to help creatively accentuating your imagery, including a helpful Guide Mode as well as Picture Control settings for in-camera adjustment of the color and contrast qualities of your photos and movies.

For live view monitoring, image playback, and menu navigation, a large 3.0" 921k-dot LCD monitor is available and features a wide 160° viewing angle to better support working from high and low angles. Also enhancing the viewing and shooting abilities of the D3200, the optional WU-1a Wireless Mobile Adapter can be used to provide Wi-Fi connectivity for wirelessly transferring imagery and remotely controlling the camera from a linked Android or iOS mobile device.

Included with the camera body are two versatile zoom lenses, the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II and the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED, which combine to realize a total 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 27-300mm. Both lenses utilize extra-low dispersion glass to reduce chromatic aberrations and produce sharp, clear imagery. Additionally, both lenses also feature SWM (Silent Wave Motor) AF mechanisms to deliver quick, precise, and quiet focusing performance.

A Nikon shoulder bag is also included to provide protection as well as a means to carry the entire camera kit.

24.2MP DX-Format Sensor and EXPEED 3 Processor
The 24.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor and EXPEED 3 processor work together to produce overall high image quality with notable detail, dynamic range, color accuracy, and low-light sensitivity to a native ISO 6400, which is further expandable to ISO 12800. The EXPEED 3 processor also enables a wealth of speed throughout the camera system, including support for full HD 1080p movie recording and a full-resolution continuous shooting rate of 4 fps.
Multi-CAM 1000 Autofocus Sensor
Benefitting the high image quality is an apt AF system that employs 11 distinct AF points to quickly acquire focus in a range of lighting conditions from -1 to +19 EV. Predictive AF tracking is available to maintain focus on moving subjects and Face-Priority AF can also be used when working in live view.
Full HD Movie Recording
Full HD 1920 x 1080p movie recording is supported in multiple frame rates up to 30 fps, as well as HD 720p and SD 480p in multiple frame rates, in the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 format. During recording, full-time autofocus can be employed, with face-detection and subject-tracking capabilities, for ensured sharpness with a wide variety of subject types. A built-in monaural microphone can be used to record high-quality sound or, alternatively, a microphone input is integrated into the body design to support the use of an external microphone for enhanced quality and control over audio recordings.
Scene Recognition System and Exposure Metering
The intelligent Scene Recognition System with 3D Color Matrix Metering II utilizes a 420-pixel RGB sensor to evaluate and analyze all aspects within a scene, including brightness, contrast, subject distance, and the scene colors, to quickly determine an accurate exposure and white balance setting to best render the scene at hand. The information gathered is also checked against onboard reference images to ensure consistency from image to image in regard to exposure, white balance, i-TTL flash settings, and subject-tracking AF performance.
Body Design
The D3200 integrates a large 3.0" 921k-dot LCD monitor, which features a 160° viewing angle to better support viewing capabilities from high and low working angles. Alternatively, a bright pentamirror optical viewfinder is also integrated into the design for precise eye-level viewing and real-time monitoring of subjects.

A built-in pop-up flash is also available for additional illumination when working in low-light conditions and supports Nikon's i-TTL flash metering system. A hot shoe can be used, too, for connection and optional external flash for even greater lighting control.
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II Lens
Bundled with the D3200 is the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II; a standard zoom lens providing a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 27-82.5mm. Aspherical and extra-low dispersion elements are integrated into the lens' design to limit chromatic aberrations and distortion in order to realize sharp, clear imagery throughout the zoom range. Additionally, a Silent Wave Motor is also incorporated into the lens to promote fast, quiet, and accurate focusing performance.
AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED Lens
Also included is the AF-S DX Zoom-NIKKOR 55-200mm f/4-5.6G ED lens, which provides a 35mm-equivalent focal length range of 82.5-300mm, covering telephoto to super telephoto perspectives. A Silent Wave Motor (SWM) focusing mechanism provides high-speed AF in a precise, smooth, and quiet manner to benefit recording movies. Two extra-low dispersion elements are incorporated within the optical design to minimize chromatic aberrations and improve overall image sharpness. Additionally, a Super Integrated Coating (SIC) has been applied to lens elements to reduce ghosting and flare for enhanced color neutrality and image contrast.
Other Camera Features

This camera offers great picture quality, is easy to use but also very capable. Any D-SLR will be comparably versatile with the manual options, in combination with automatic options.I give this four stars because, although I am more than pleased with it, it is not without trade-offs to purchasing a D-SLR that is less expensive, as this one is. There are trade-offs with this bundle as well, although for my interests this bundle was the better deal.Autofocus:The autofocus is plenty fast enough for most circumstances, but occasionally the autofocus struggles - because of the target being too close or too far to identify in very little light, usually. I don't know how much of this is the "cheaper" kit lenses. So far I've never found a situation that I couldn't compensate for using the settings on the camera, settings which should be standard for all D-SLR's. The lenses:You will want to research not just the camera, but the lenses that come with it. The two lenses this set comes with do not have VR image stabilization, (the less expensive set with just one lens, is a higher quality lens with VR) which may be more important if you do night photography by hand; without any lights, and without flash. On bright city streets or indoors it works just fine in my experience, even shooting by hand. I set the shutter to 1/10-1/60, and close to or right at the maximum aperture range. The auto mode is very good at doing this for you. If there's lots of movement there will be blur in that range, but not because of the photographer holding it. The weight is just hefty enough, and it has a nice grip, so that I don't have any trouble keeping it steady enough for any situation I've had the chance to run into. It seems to me the circumstances that VR stabilization is necessary are exceptional. Then again, I haven't been able to compare these to the VR lenses. A tripod would make the whole matter moot anyway. The aperture only goes "up" to 3.5, between 24mm-18mm zoom, at somewhat "fish-eye" distances. Particularly in daylight, I don't find that I need more. If you want to do portraits you will need a lens that has an aperture "up" to 2.0 or greater. A lower number for aperture indicates a larger aperture. Larger apertures can acquire more detail. You might not get the best use of the camera with the kit lenses. According to my less-than-professional eye, even with these lenses, it beats the heck out of a point n' shoot, so they make for a solid starting point to serious photography. This is another reason you might want to go with the lesser bundle - you will be able to take some of that money and buy a more professionally oriented prime, or fixed lens, at the expense of versatility. For someone who wants more versatility, better image quality and control than a standard point n' shoot, the bundle is nice to have.Ease of use:This is my first D-SLR. I don't know how it compares to others in usability. I will say the guide mode itself is very informative, albeit extremely cumbersome. Being an established model and brand, there's a lot of information to help you, along with the thorough information within the manual. There's an English and a Spanish manual. It is very intuitive after a couple days of use, I just had to glance at the manual for a couple of things. I am pretty tech savvy, and I had done research beforehand, and you may want to do the same. Shutter sound:The shutter is not quiet, but it's not loud either. It has a quiet shutter mode, which doesn't seem to make it much quieter but does make the sound less "clicky". This is probably not ideal if you want to do lots of wildlife photography. The shutter is otherwise fast, immediate and of course, consistent. With the automatic image noise removal on, I rarely notice noise even at 3200/6400/12800 ISO. Comparing to similar cameras at this price range or lower, the noise removal on this camera seems to work better even at high ISO, and my experience with this camera seems to verify that. The higher ISO's I find little use for anyway, being that I can control the aperture and shutter speed. The noise removal does degrade the picture quality a little, but it seems if that's important you will want to consider a higher tier of camera. The main benefit of the noise filter is that you have to do a little less post-processing. Exceptional needs aside, this camera can do everything. It takes nice pictures. The pictures are very consistent, with or without the flash, on auto. Image quality in this price range is what I researched and received with this camera. It takes beautifully detailed, expansive, evenly color-balanced photos, consistently for day to day use.One other thing to consider. If you want a camera with 20x+ zoom, you will want to get a point and shoot "super zoom" or telephoto camera. A 400mm telephoto lens for a D-SLR will net you no more than ~23x magnification, give or take a couple x's. Larger lenses would be prohibitively expensive, and once you look at zoom lenses you're looking at the price of another camera anyway.

The camera is very good, very easy to use and very intuitive controls. Live View is very bad, very slow to focus and in low light conditions does not work, do not know why the auxiliary light is turned off in this mode.
The lenses that come with this kit are very fragile, the bayonet is made of plastic material. The lens 18-55mm is very bad, the focus is slow and very noisy motor, the front of the lens is too loose and has a lot of vibration, expect a better product from NIKON

Comments about Nikon D3200 DSLR Camera with 18-55mm and 55-200mm Lenses (Black):

I bought this camera to take when I'm out hiking. (after falling on an expensive unit)

The optical sensor in this camera has come so far that it actually takes better photos than the expensive (old) unit that it replaced.

I use it primarily for scenic photography and it works great. Although if you are planning on taking only scenic photos I would recommend you spend the extra money to get a camera that is NOT a cropped sensor. But it has never caused me any problems.

I use a tripod for ALL of my scenic shots and it takes great shots even in low light. If you try to take low light shots without a tripod the ISO will need to be pretty high and you will get noise. Although in my experience its minimal.

It also takes GREAT shots even in the shade. I was impressed with the clarity of the action shots it took at a local game. Especially for an entry level camera.

I will point out that the lenses that come with the body are the base model plastic cased lenses. Buying better quality lenses WILL get you better photos. But for anyone looking at an entry level camera they are still GREAT lenses.

I have attached a few photos to show the quality of the images this camera takes. For the sake of showing what THIS kit can do, I used only the included lenses. (no fancy glass).

Our daughter (15yo) has been up and down a long list of P&S cameras that simply could not give her the image options she wanted. This Christmas she saved her money and we reviewed over a dozen cameras and lenses and eventually landed on the D3200 as our camera of choice. The lens kit was perfect and BH offered the best overall price and warranty options.

She loves the camera and is able to take great pictures for her HS Journalism class that also produces the school's yearbook.

This is my first big present to myself! Love it! Especially the helpful AF-single point, 3D, and Dynamic view.
I have played around with the older versions before and so glad this one is so much lighter.

A suggestion would be a informational video format on how to operate the camera. The handbook is helpful along with the digital handbook but I feel it would be more inviting and personal if there was a audio, visual interaction aspect that takes you on the journey to understanding their new toy.

I was wanting to get back into taking better quality photos, after switching from my Nikkormat to a small Fuji digital camera, and finally, when that stopped working, to my phone camera! My brother-in-law is a professional photographer, and he recommended the Nikon D3200 for me. While I am still learning about all it can do, so far I love it! I can set it on automatic and let it handle the settings, or do it manually. I like the way the camera feels in my hands, good and solid.

It is easy enough to use for a beginner, but the pictures are beautiful! I would highly recommend this camera to any photographer just strating out who is looking for quality equipment and photos.

Received this camera as a gift from my wife to replace an old point & shoot. I like to take snapshots of family gatherings, pictures of wildlife and scenery, and racing cars. This camera and lens, especially the 55-200mm zoom is amazing. I still have much to learn about the settings, but so far I'm completely satisfied with the camera. I'll find out later in the year how good it is with action pics, hopefully by then I'll have the knowledge I need to shoot great photos.
