The black and gray Mirage 6 Photo/Tablet Backpack from Tamrac is designed to hold a DSLR with 5.5" lens attached, 2 extra lenses, and a flash. This 600D polyester pack is divided in half with the bottom portion reserved for your photo gear, and the top half for personals. Additionally, a padded rear zippered pocket can hold your iPad-sized tablet. The front top and bottom zippered panels feature mesh organizer pockets for media cards, and other small items.

You can retrieve your gear via a dual access system. When you wear the pack as a traditional backpack, you put the pack down, unzip the front panel and take what you need. When you wear the pack using only one of the shoulder straps, you can swing the pack forward and use the side zippered access flap. This gets you to your gear without having to remove the entire pack. There is a QuickClip tripod attachment system with foot pocket to mount and balance your tripod on the rear exterior of the pack. A mesh side pocket holds a water bottle.

The backpack straps are padded and adjustable while a sternum strap helps maintain stability while you're traveling. The snap coupled waist belt is tuck-away style. A top grab handle is also provided. A removable rain cover stores in the top compartment, and used during inclement weather.

Comments about Tamrac Mirage 6 Photo/Tablet Backpack (Black/Gray):

I'm an amateur photographer using this pack for my Canon and 3 lenses. There is room for all of the lenses but it's tight. I'll likely put the least used lens in the top pouch. The quality of the pack is great, this is my second Tamrac case and I'm sure it'll hold up just as well as the first. The slot for the tablet is tight (I have a defender case on mine) but it's handy.

Comments about Tamrac Mirage 6 Photo/Tablet Backpack (Black/Gray):

This backpack is perfect for my photo equipment.
Fuji X-E1 with three zoom lenses and small flash,
plus accessories. Tripod holder on the outside is a bonus. Top storage compartment is big enough for a
          jumper, snack or something else.
Nice shape, sits very well on my back, seems to be
made well. There is a tablet compartment, into which
I managed to put 13" laptop, although it was very tight fit. Highly recommended. But be sure, that YOUR gear will fit in.

good access to camera - Nikon D7100 w/ 18-300 lens fits like a glove; like the tripod strap with a pouch for one of the legs to give it support - and its in the middle and not on side. Handy adjustable pouches for making compartments; place for water/coffee bottle/cup on side. Looking forward to using it on my trip to Alaska this year.

Great bag if you have a few lenses and a iPad. However it can get a little cramped but solid construction and usability.

Comments about Tamrac Mirage 6 Photo/Tablet Backpack (Black/Gray):

I spent months trying to find the perfect bag for on-the-go shooting. The Mirage 6 fit my needs perfectly!

                My requirements were the following:
                - must be hands-free, backpack style with two shoulder straps
                - must hold selected shooting gear (not all of my kit)
                - must have attachment points on shoulder straps for camera straps (balancing camera weight with backpack)
                - must be airline carry-on compliant
                - must have quick access to camera when in the bag (sling-style)
                - must have storage for incidentals

You would not believe how hard it is to find a bag that fits all these requirements. On paper, the Mirage 6 was the only bag that addressed my needs and I was hoping it would not be a disappointment when it was received.

To my great pleasure, the Mirage 6 did not disappoint! The layout, materials and construction are first rate. Make no mistake, this bag is designed and built to be much smaller and lighter weight than my KATA backpack...but the KATA is quite bulky and it is not the bag for the active photographer.

Here is what I carry in the Mirage 6:
                - Canon 60D with 17-55 f2.8 (with hood) attached
                - Sekonic L-358 w/spot view finder in separate case
                - Canon battery charger
                - Canon 580 EX II flash
                - the occasional Canon 10-22 wide angle lens
                - iPad 2
                - cables, AA batteries, LP-E6 batteries, remote shutter release, memory cards and other accessories

Except for the occasional 10-22 lens, everything fits in the lower compartment leaving the upper compartment free for snacks, light clothing, maps, small first aid kit, wallet/passport, keys, LED flashlight and other things I just can't seem to do without!

So far, I have only discovered a few drawbacks, though minor in nature:

                - While the side door makes it easy to open to retrieve the camera "sling-style", I am a bit nervous that, in crowds, someone could open this door. Perhaps a snap-style locking plastic tab on the zipper-pull would put my mind at ease. This is something I can easily modify, however.

                - I am broad shouldered and had to fiddle around with the shoulder straps and chest strap to get the fit just right -- I guess this comes with the smaller design of the Mirage 6. Not all folks will have this problem, but it is worth noting. BTW -- I don't usually use the waist belt, but it secures the pack nicely when climbing or biking.

                - I was hoping my 60D with its BG-E9 grip would fit in the bag. I knew it might be close based on my research of the specs. However, with my selected kit in the bag, I can *just* fit the gripped 60D in there but it is very hard to remove. I am resigned to packing an extra, fully-charged LP-E6 or two instead of the grip.

If you are looking for a small, lightweight backpack-style bag, the Mirage 6 is definitely worth considering. At the time of this review, it was very new and hadn't made it into may stores. In time, it should become more available. If you have a larger upper-body, you may want to make sure the fit is right for you. I found that the generous strap adjustments did the trick for me.
