My old setup included a 430ex which has served me well but I was looking to upgrade to a more powerful flash. I was very interested in getting the Phottix Mitros every since Canon pulled the 580ex II but I couldn't afford the 630ex-rt. The Phottix Mitros + is awesome! And with this package you are getting a great deal with the included Odin transmitter. The bundle is a no brainer; the stand, umbrella holder and shoot thru umbrella are top quality. Plus the bonus sandbag and carrying bag for the entire kit is a smart choice. the Mitros + and the ODIN are a cinch to operate, no fumbling around with menus and confusing button sequences. Power output is comparable to the 630ex-rt and you also get high sync capability. Highly recommend.

The flash works well - powerful, good controls, light has pretty even spread, color is pretty good (I think 430exII is better, but I need to experiment with some CTO gel in situations I use it). It seemed solid, with very nice feeling head rotation, battery door, hot shoe connection/lock.
However it popped and burned out after 2 months of gentle use, I'm a hobbyist. Failed suddenly while using on camera (the body popped and smelled of burn - capacitor?, not the bulb). Used with 6D at about half power, single shot mode, Eneloop batteries.
Sent in for service - the flash was returned working in about a week, but of course I had to pay insured shipping and deal with hassle - Not very reliable. The 430exII, which frankly doesn't feel nearly as nicely built as Mitros+ (cheaper feeling plastic, head mechanism much worse - looser and wonkier) at least has been performing very reliably.

I guess I'd recommend with reservations - the Odin has worked great and it's nice to have in-built remote control. But there are new options nowadays which deserve a look.

      Learning how to use it

      By Jeff

      from New Mexico

Comments about Phottix Scott Kelby Mitros+ TTL Flash and Odin TCU TTL Flash Trigger Kit for Canon:

The equipment seems great. No documentation to tell a novice like me how to use the trigger and flash, but with help from YouTube videos I'm learning.
I like the way the stand works. It can be set up fairly short or tall and is compact when folded.
I'm not sure what to do with this sandbag.
So far I am really enjoying learning to do some flash photography with this set that even gives a beginner like me some fun options.

After seeing the Phottix Mitros+ in a friend's kit I decided to upgrade from my old 430EX. The Kelby kit was less than buying the flash and trigger separatly, so I jumped. The build quality is great, it's super easy to use, and the extra gear is a welcome plus. This is a great was to get your flash off your camera without breaking the bank on the Canon 600. Just do it!

Flash Kit at a great deal

        By Nick

Comments about Phottix Scott Kelby Mitros+ TTL Flash and Odin TCU TTL Flash Trigger Kit for Canon:

This TTL flash kit costs less than the Canon equivalent and you get much more equipment. The radio transmitter works very well and is a good option if you want an off camera flash.

This is my first external flash for my camera. It's hard to beat the price since buying each item separately would be considerably more. The stand seems pretty stable. Great kit, especially if you don't own a flash and want to get started using one.

This flash and trigger set has all the essential features I'm looking for, HSS wirelessly, simplicity, and flash control from the trigger unit. It's easy to use and, most importantly, reliable. I have yet to have any miss fires from the trigger (user error and not paying attention to the recycle time still happens on the occasion haha). Highly recommended.

The price is worth the Mitros+ and Odin trigger alone, the additional bundle items makes it a great value. Purchased separately could cost 100-200 more. However, the bundled items have questionable quality despite the excellent price. For instance, I would not want to raise the light stand to its max length without an assistance, since it easily topples even under a light breeze (and it did several times during a wedding, crashing the umbrella each time). And yes, I did use the sandbag. Despite these issues, I will definitely use the lightstand setup from this bundle as backup gear.

You really can't beat the price of this kit. Purchased separately these items are several hundred dollars more expensive. The only item that seems a bit light weight is the light stand but for a small umbrella and a speedlight it works well. I'm a long time fan of the Odin system and now with the addition of the Mitros+ speedlight, it is flawless.
