The Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens combines the compact Full HD 1080p EOS C100 camera with a versatile zoom lens that covers medium-wide to telephoto focal lengths on the camera's Super 35mm-sized CMOS image sensor. This EOS C100 has a hardware and firmware update that adds a new continuous autofocus function. The continuous AF mode uses Dual Pixel CMOS AF technology for faster, smoother, and more accurate autofocusing for all Canon autofocus lenses.

The EOS C100 uses the AVCHD codec to record 1080p video up to 24 Mbps. It supports dual SD/SDHC/SDXC memory cards which, thanks to the efficient AVCHD codec, allows you to record nearly three hours of HD video on a single 32GB card. For professional applications, you can also record clean, uncompressed 4:2:2 video with embedded timecode via the HDMI output. Additional features such as One-Shot AF and Push Auto Iris allow operators to spend less time checking camera settings and more time capturing cinematic footage.

The Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Lens offers an extensive focal range with a constant maximum aperture of f/4. The lens is autofocus enabled and is fully compatible with the EOS C100's Dual Pixel CMOS AF for continuous autofocusing. The lens also provides optical image stabilization to help reduce the effects of camera shake. Used together, the EOS C100 and 24-105mm lens is ideal for event videographers, documentarians, and independent filmmakers working with small crews or run-and-gun shooting situations.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

The first thing that I love about this camera is how easy and quick it is to adjust almost everything that you will need to create the perfect picture. It was very easy to create a full system around this lens and body because of the variable audio inputs along with the media that it records to. I was looking at getting the Blackmagic 4K Cinema camera but it didn't have the quick adjustments and the little amount of peripheral equipment needed to use the camera. With the Blackmagic camera, I would have had to purchase a solid state drive along with the computer equipment to read the media and also the fact that it did not come with a lens also pushed me away. So if you are looking to record live events or are filming on site that does not allow for hours of preparation to create the perfect shot, this is the camera for you.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

I have been using a canon C100 for 1 year now and I love it more every shoot. I have recently shot a full season of a web series with 2 of these cameras and they hold up extremely well. They are easy to use and very solid. I would recommend this camera to just about anyone. It's a fast camera too, so its great for more run and gun shoots as well.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

I've been in the business for 25 years -- and have used a lot of cameras, ranging from Bolex's and Arri BL's to Aatons, to Betacams, dvx1000s' etc...
A couple years ago I nearly bought an fs100 but ended up hating the ergonomics.
I've used the c300 several times...

And this is the camera I've fallen in love with!
I prefer the c100 to the c300 because of it's reduced size, and actually the placement of the monitor too. Oh -- camera mics!
On the 300, I always felt like the monitor could get broken off pretty easily sitting so high.

The c100 is an absolutely great camera for gun-and-run situations and produces an amazing image. The 4K sensor is the same as the c300 and c500.
I also have noticed that most people think I'm shooting photos, not motion picture, so it doesn't raise eye-balls as much. A sweet bonus to the size.

The codec is fine for most real-world applications and try as I might, I can't (at the moment) see a reason to buy an outboard 4:2:2 recorder. The difference just isn't there.

It's an absolutely pro camera in most regards, though one thing does bug me - the inability to have timecode info easily attached to files. The included export utility works well in renaming and concatenating files (it's the way to go, vs simply copy/pasting the mts files to a hard drive which is what I initially did) but TC doesn't come along. I'm hoping to find a simple solution for that soon.

I like the fact that one of the display guides is a 2:35 marker -- this camera is absolutely capable for cinema.

Continuous or moementary Auto focus - is very useful in a documentary, one man situation.

Camera mic sound is good, though it will pick up handling and lens noise.

          Lowlight capability is insane.

A nice bonus is that the 'kit' lens is a top-notch lens, (not like the piece of junk that Sony included with the fs100)

Battery life is great and batteries aren't enormous. Price of SD cards is essentially a non-issue.

All in all -- this is the camera I've been waiting for for 25 years. Now, if someone could come up with a hack to ouput 4k... that'd be sweet.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

Shooting with the C300 often, I wanted the next step up from DSLR with the ability to use the Canon lenses I was using already.
I really have no complaints except I find the audio to the headphones a bit low.
Image quality is amazing, LONG record times, battery life is unreal.
Just a great purchase and worth every cent.

If you want the next level of image, use the atomos. Frankly, using both the C100 and C300, I like the C100 ergonomics better.
The autofocus works MUCH better than I expected, and is a savior in the run and gun situations I find myself in often.

Viewfinder is tiny, but clear. I do wish it had a larger viewfinder, but it works fine.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

Having moved from shooting video with Canon's 5D Mark 2 and Mark 3, the C100 has amazing image quality from its sensor, and other features that were sorely missed on the 5D's (XLR's, built in ND filters, continuous auto focus, peaking, zebras, C-Log and other picture profiles, etc.) Unless you are doing heavy color grading, the AVCHD codec holds up really well. You can always put a Ninja on it for 4:2:2 ProRes, just 8-bit though. It feels good hand held, and easy to load it up with audio, monitor, follow focus, etc. The only reasons I did not give five stars is because the LCD screen could be better, the viewfinder is not good, and there should be some way to give some form of continuous auto exposure or at least auto-iso.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

To start things off, I use this camera mostly for filming weddings, events, interviews, documentaries, etc. Real stuff that gets me a paycheck. It is for those purposes, that this camera excels.I work with a few other camera hounds who are absolute blackmagic fanatics, and while those camera's are great as well, they are insanely specific. You either need to be on a set or a pre-scouted and supplied location, or you need a couple grand worth of accessories to even remotely make them viable. Not with the C100, the most I slap onto it is a shotgun mic, which low and behold, it has a holder for.Major Pro's of the C100:~Battery life - I run one of the larger extended batteries, and have yet to run out of energy in a single work day.~Recording Codec (Data space) - While some might consider this a weakness, 9 out of 10 times, it's not. Sure, you can't get raw, or even 422 colour space out of it, but get a ninja 2 or ninja star, and you're made in the shade. However, even without those extra's the quality of the recording for the insanely small amount of space it takes, is amazing. Plus they extend it's flexibility even further with the cannon log (c-log in camera) colour profile, that means the picture comes out flat, but with the right LUT, it's gorgeous. (Head over the Abelcine, they have a few awesome home made 3D LUTs that are meant especially for the c100 and c-log, and they are superb.) But with this super compression, with 2 32GB cards in the camera, I can record all day. Something like 10 hours, they quote, but I've never needed to actually record that much in a single sitting, but I've gotten close and had no problems.~Built in ND's - If you are familiar at all with videography, you know why this is awesome.~Dual Pixel Autofocus - Sounds like a gimmick, and certainly has limits, but well worth the price if you do anything unscripted.~Buttons - Buttons buttons buttons, a button for every feature and a feature for every button, very little you need to dig through a menu for, and certainly nothing that needs to be adjusted on the fly while shooting.~Ergonomics - Very comfortable to handle and everything is in a pretty solid places. I might nitpick a couple things, but that's really just being persnickety.Cons~Limited Codec - Yes, I put it here too, as great as it is, even letting us pay for an upgrade to record 422 natively would be super cool, but a deal breaker, no.~Viewfinder - The viewfinder that comes built in ..... sucks ... like seriously ... sucks. But despair no more! There is a fix! Just google "C-Cup C100" and thank me later.~Pricey - While certainly better than a lot of other camera's for the quality, with the advent of the blackmagics and all they are capable of, I would think if they are not going to give us native 422 recording, canon should drop the price a little bit.All in all, a great camera. If you do any kind of freelance videography I highly recommend this camera. Worth every penny.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

I've used the C100 on a few jobs and overall, the picture quality is stunning when things are mostly still. When the camera is moving around, the picture detail goes soft. If you pan VERY slow, it maintains quality. Also, with a polarizer, I got vibrating contrasting edges. The culprit in both cases is the codec. At 24MBS H.264, yes, you get a great image with a small file size, but the aggressive compression fails under the situations mentioned above. I may explore the 4:2:2 uncompressed HDMI output and see if I can improve things. The other bummer is the 2GB file limit. I was under the impression that with dual SD slots, I could really get some long takes (I do a lot of engineering test documentation.). During a 1.5hr continuous shoot, the C100 made a new file every 11 minutes. When I concatenated them in PPro, the camera lost 3 frames consistently when making the switch to a new file. The first frame of the new clip is repeated 3 times so as to not loose time, but there is a slight discontinuity. Also, the upstream clip's audio cut out several frames before the file stopped, so the break in audio is even longer. I was simultaneously shooting with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition. It has a 4GB limit and when I lined those files up, no frames or audio was dropped. So the $ GoPro can start a new file without a hitch. The $ C100 cannot. Disappointing. For run and gun, it's a right wrist breaker. I got the Varizoom Carbon Fiber, Chicken Foot, Fluid Head monopod and it makes gunning on the run much easier. The monopod works fairly well as a steadycam. In outdoor sun, set the LCD backlight to bright and it's much easier to see.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

I was looking for a new camera to move up from a Canon 7D production workflow for short documentary work and private sector clients looking to advertise online. The camera is really easy to learn and operate, and can help turn you into an efficient one-man production team. The dual XLR audio inputs are a boon for documentary work --hook up you wireless lav pack to one channel and a boom mic to the second one and get a great mix or audio backup for post. I love the camera ergonomics, the handle provides great handling that can help you minimize shake on run and gun situations. The screen and viewfinder are really the greatest downside to this whole package -but can be fixed with a Zacuto viewfinder (I got one with the camera and pretty much use it all the time). I also enjoyed greatly the autofocus feature. The 420 colorspace might be a concern for some, and I might end up picking up a NINJA 2 so I can work on 422 --but footage with the native compression stills looks pretty good. Overall I'm extremely happy with the camera and look forward to my next shoot soon!

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

I'm a videographer and the majority of my work's final destination is online. This is the perfect camera for me for a number of reasons. The codec is pretty small at 24mbps but that's a good thing because it still looks amazing and it doesn't eat up hard drive space too fast. It's very ergonomic and pretty light which is good because I shoot a lot of handheld and often just by myself or with one other person. I rented this camera and the Sony FS700 for a few days and I ruled out the Sony just because it was so uncomfortable handheld. This is just the perfect camera for run and gun shooters, also because of it's great low light capability. I never liked the idea of "building" a camera before I shoot, i want to be able to pick it up and go, so this really is like a better 5D with built in XLRs, a grip, movable LCD screen, everything you'd need. I'm also very impressed with the 24-105 lens, I put it on my T3i and it made it look almost like a 5D. I considered getting this for about 8 months and did my research and I'm convinced this is the perfect camera for me with no real competitors. It gives you so many options, you can make beautiful set up shots with lighting, or you can do run and gun shots that still look cinematic, and if you want more mbps you can always get an external recorder which brings it up around C300 quality. Still haven't tested the autofocus feature but I'm excited to... The only thing that bugs me is the 30fps limit, but i realized i don't do slo mo that often anyway. I've used Final Cut X optical flow on the footage and got some great results with simulated slo mo. If you've worked with 5Ds, this is definitely the next step and will make your life easier. I can't imagine anything coming out soon that will replace this at a comparable price. At least I hope not since I just bought it! Definitely recommended.

This camera is AWESOME!!! I shoot mainly live events (conferences weddings concerts and video news releases) and since jumping on the DSLR Bandwagon 3 years ago with my Canon 60d and Canon 7D Ive been missing all the bells and whistles of a professional video camera. I know that the option to put magic lantern software on my cameras were avail but I didnt really gravitate towards that idea. My first gig with this camera was the 2014 Preakness and boy was it a pleasure. I had the capability to monitor my interviews, the ND Filter was fantastic as it was a partly cloudy day and it was awesome to be able to use the autofocus feature as I am a one man band and messing with the focus on the dslr on the fly would sometimes prove to be cumbersome. Im still learning the camera and next up is a 2 day conference. All I can say is if you are looking for the best of 2 worlds DSLR + Video Recorder this is it...I can now also use xlr mics which is another bonus to this cam. All superficial bonuses yes I kno but having a piece of mind when taping my interviews is priceless!!! The downside is the LCD...canon needs to step that factor up for sure.

Comments about Canon EOS C100 Cinema EOS Camera with Dual Pixel CMOS AF and 24-105mm f/4L Lens:

Absolutely an amazing camera. It gets a lot of complaints for not having slowmo but all you have to do is set it to 60i and deinterlace the footage and bam there you go slowmo. Honestly i can't tell the difference from atomos and internal codec, unless i blow up the image. Dual pixel is great I'm glad I waited for it to be in stock instead of buying a c100 and sending it to canon. dual pixel is good but struggles to focus in low light. i thought this camera and the 24-105l lens was going to be light enough to operate with a glidecam4000. it was too heavy for me. but all in all this was an amazing camera
