I never really minded slow transfers that much as I'm usually not in that much of a hurry. Make some coffee, read the newspaper while the photos moved slowly onto my computer from my VERY old USB card reader. Decided to buy the Kingston USB 3.0 reader and the speed is is absolutely shocking. Real example is transferring about 275 RAW images from my Canon 1D Mark 4. My old reader took about 35 minutes to accomplish this task. This Kingston reader did the same job in 2 minutes. What can I say other than the price was right and it works great!

I have been using this product for over an year. Initially, there were no problems. Over time, it started corrupting CF cards. RMA'd for a replacement. Now it has started to fail reading SD cards too. I am OK with occasional drop in connections, but this reader eventually corrupts the file system on cards - that it needs a full format to restore.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

The product is used in a classroom setting for students to upload their projects. Similarly priced options available from @ and@ do not withstand heavy or even moderate use. This one does. For the price and the functionality it's the best option available.

Has just stopped working 95% of the time. I've tried a variety of cables (USB 2.0 and 3.0) and about once in 20 connections, the reader will power up, but it's generally just dead. I bought this for an extended overseas trip and now have to buy another one. Avoid at all costs.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

I purchased this reader to replace a Lexar card reader that could not read a Sandisk Extreme Pro CF card. Lexar had replaced the first reader I had, but the second one refused to read the card. I had a problem with the SanDisk reader so I found this Kingston reader at B & H at a good price, and it simply works.

On my laptop the card reader quit working could get it fix's. The idea of taking it in an have someone else work sound to experience. The price for this unit would a cost saving. It also made it so that I could read my compact flash card, which my laptop would not do.

While it is not listed anywhere, this product works well with UDMA7 CF cards. I have Komputer Bay 64GB 1000x cards that I use with my 5d Mark iii and was looking for a card reader that would work. This was the reader that @ recommended, and so far I have no complaints. It will work with a USB 2.0 port if your computer does not have USB 3.0.

I have had a few CF Card Readers, but over time, the internal pins get bent (no manner how careful I am) and I can no longer use it for data transfers. The Kingston has a very tight fit for the CF card. I have high hopes that this will be the best Reader

I use this product to transfer files from a CF card that is used in a Nikon D800 (large files). Transfer is very fast due to a USB 3 connector.
I got it because is Linux compatible and found it to be perfect.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

I never really minded slow transfers that much as I'm usually not in that much of a hurry. Make some coffee, read the newspaper while the photos moved slowly onto my computer from my VERY old USB card reader. Decided to buy the Kingston USB 3.0 reader and the speed is is absolutely shocking. Real example is transferring about 275 RAW images from my Canon 1D Mark 4. My old reader took about 35 minutes to accomplish this task. This Kingston reader did the same job in 2 minutes. What can I say other than the price was right and it works great!
