This is the first card reader I've owned that just works the way it should every time I use it. I have a Mac Pro, and before that an iMac, and every card reader I've used before this one would malfunction about a third of the time...and I would have to unplug the card reader from the USB port and plug it back in again. I had tried several readers before finally finding this one.I've had the Kingston for a few months now, and it has never malfunctioned...a first for any card reader I've owned. I use it mostly for SD (from a D810), and occasionally CF. It's as fast as you'd expect a 3.0 USB reader to be.Very happy with it. Just plug and play. It's diminutive size makes it an easy fit on my desk.

I have been using this product for over an year. Initially, there were no problems. Over time, it started corrupting CF cards. RMA'd for a replacement. Now it has started to fail reading SD cards too. I am OK with occasional drop in connections, but this reader eventually corrupts the file system on cards - that it needs a full format to restore.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

I have one of these at home and one at work. It's flat enough to fit in a camera bag. I put a piece of Velcro on the home unit and stuck it to my desk in a place where it's convenient.

This is WORLDS faster than my old USB 2.0 card reader. It's proven reliable, too.

Best card reader at low price

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

I like this card reader far better than the 2.5 inch integrated ones we use to use. Fast data transfer and multiple options. I especially like that I don't have to mess with micro sd to sd adapters with this. Worked out of the box for me with both Windows 7 and Yosemite. Highly recommended if you need one!

I use this media reader to transfer videos from my digital camcorder to my computer, via a memory card. There was virtually no setup, just connected the unit to the USB jack, inserted the memory card, and it worked. Transfers were quick. Very happy with this Kingston media reader.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

I generally do not buy equipment unless absolutely needed. Reading about much faster download speeds attainable with today's current readers I decided to investigate. I must tell you, if I do decide to purchase, I put in many hours of research before making that decision. I also have a tendency to believe the more expensive, the better. However, all my research led me back to this modestly priced Kingston USB 3.0 reader so, I decided to make the purchase. It's everything good that people have written about it. Forget the ones that are sour grapes for whatever reason. This item is truly a little gem. Easy to use, extremely fast, no bent pins, nothing but a first class piece of equipment. So much for me thinking more expensive equates to more quality, this one couldn't be better.

The product is used in a classroom setting for students to upload their projects. Similarly priced options available from @ and@ do not withstand heavy or even moderate use. This one does. For the price and the functionality it's the best option available.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

Has just stopped working 95% of the time. I've tried a variety of cables (USB 2.0 and 3.0) and about once in 20 connections, the reader will power up, but it's generally just dead. I bought this for an extended overseas trip and now have to buy another one. Avoid at all costs.

Comments about Kingston USB 3.0 Media Reader:

I purchased this reader to replace a Lexar card reader that could not read a Sandisk Extreme Pro CF card. Lexar had replaced the first reader I had, but the second one refused to read the card. I had a problem with the SanDisk reader so I found this Kingston reader at B & H at a good price, and it simply works.

On my laptop the card reader quit working could get it fix's. The idea of taking it in an have someone else work sound to experience. The price for this unit would a cost saving. It also made it so that I could read my compact flash card, which my laptop would not do.
