The Zenmuse H3-3D 3-Axis Gimbal for GoPro HERO3/3+ from DJI is a camera stabilization device that is exclusively for the DJI Phantom 2 Quadcopter. It is driven by a 3-axis brushless gimbal that not only supports tilting and canting, like the previous H3-2D model, but also panning as well. Not only will it keep your aerial video's horizon level and isolated from vibration, the gimbal can also be used to remotely operate there camera, allowing you to adjust the camera angle with ±0.08° accuracy in flight.

Electronically, the gimbal is designed to operate plug and play with the Phantom 2; however you may or may not require additional mounting hardware depending on which version of Phantom 2 you have. The first version of the Phantom 2 (V.1) has a small, rectangular opening on the bottom of the airframe that was optimized for the H3-2D gimbal, and is too small for the H3-3D. Conversely, the Phantom 2 V.2 has a larger round opening.

If your aircraft is identified at the V.1 you will need part CP.PT.000107, available separately, which includes the mounting adapter and extended landing gear required. If you are using the later Phantom 2 (V.2 or later), then no additional mounting hardware is required, and the original landing gear can still be used.

Note: This system is balanced for the naked, unmodified GoPro HERO3 and HERO3+ action cameras only. Camera add-ons such as filters or housings will throw off the balance and could damage the gimbal. Additional, when used with the HERO4 it may not perform optimally.

I broke the stock gimbal that came with my new Phantom 2. Not during a crash but due to careless use of needle-nose pliers ;/

After ordering the new one everything has been great. With no gimbal your footage is crazy shakey and jerky as you would expect, it's almost unusable. With the gimbal you often forget that your flying hundreds of feet in the air being buffetted by wind!

If you want to fly the Phantom 2 professionally you better make sure you have this three axis gimbal!

In my opinion, this is actually a downgrade from the H3-2D gimbal. It is maddening that DJI uses brushless motors that are so marginal and weak that they have to be put into hibernation mode at the slightest hint of resistance. Why?! I would be willing to pay more to have more robust motors that can tolerate a small amount of resistance. These can't.And the most frustrating aspect of this is the new yaw motor needs to be stronger than the other two because it encounters stronger forces from the wind, but it is clearly the weakest: If you put even the slightest pressure on it with your finger, it hibernates. (The other two take more pressure.)And why is this a problem? It's a problem, because it prevents you from going more that 5 or 10 miles per hour in forward flight. If you do, the yaw motor goes limp and ruins your footage as your camera swings 90 degrees to the left (because the camera is off center and catches more wind on the left side). This also happens in a simple hover if the winds are more than 5 or 10 miles per hour, which is nearly all of the time where I live. This seems so ridiculous to me. I have a battery pack connected to this helicopter that is capable of dumping more than 100 amps continuously, but DJI opts to use low power, very weak brushless motors on this gimbal? Why? Is it a question of cost? If so, shame on them! Is it a question of weight? If so, there is no value in additional flight time that simply produces additional footage of your gimbal going to sleep over and over again. Give me less flight time with reliable and usable results! Please! And another downgrade with this gimbal comes in the form of video stability: With the H3-2D gimbal, I never saw vibrations or the "jello" effect come through on the video, but with the H3-3D gimbal, you cannot get rid of it without using a neutral density filter (check out the many threads on this topic), which is not supported by DJI. (Again, the motors are so wimpy that they cannot compensate for even a small push-on lens filter.) The filters also affect things like saturation and vividness so that your images often look washed out.I am amazed that so many people seem to be happy with this gimbal. To me, it is almost unusable since 99% of my video contains continuous motor drop outs that ruin the footage. And although many people are having these same issues, DJI is remaining completely silent about them and provides no solutions. It's a shame that the current configuration is so sensitive to motor resistance, because the bulk of it is simple wind gusts that pass quickly and would probably not heat up the motors enough to damage them. And I would actually rather take that risk that never be able to get clean footage because of the camera going limp on the yaw axis.I have obtained almost zero usable footage since I installed this gimbal. So, what would you rather have? A bit a wag in the yaw axis but otherwise stable video with the H3-2D, or wavy jello effects and footage of your camera constantly going limp with the H3-3D? I was actually getting better results with my H3-2D, and I am about to @ my H3-3D gimbal, because I am so frustrated with it.

I mostly use this gimbal for lining up for better videos and still pictures, and also some Fpv.I like the tilt angle of this the H3-3D because it lets you aim the camera 30 degrees in either an up or down tilt angle. The ribbon cable that connects to the gopro is easily damaged if your not careful.

The gimbal is nice and easy to use however the flimsy cable used to connect the GoPro to it is very cheap and easily breakable. Whoever thought of that idea clearly has no idea what they are doing. I wish they would have kept it the way you connect the GoPro to the H3-2D gimbal.

Stable but sometimes gets shaky also is you move in certain directions you see the copper legs or propellers. Also the screws to attach the camera are super annoying to put on and take off. I just used a twisty tie and a rubber band to hold it in.

Makes the video on the Phantom 2 very smooth. I had one instance when I was flying where it seemed to "reset" itself while recording and it pointed the camera around erratically for a few seconds, then pointed forward again. Seems to be an isolated instance for now.

Extroidenary stabilization. Adding this to my phantom 2 has changed my views lol. Adding this to my production projects will pay for this thing and then some!!!!
The bad thing is that the smallest hard landing has seem to bend the arm which has made it not level. Seems that the price of this unit is high considering how sensitive it is

I use this gimbal with my GoPro Hero4. Some people say it's better to get the H4-3D but I'm more than happy with mine as it delivers exactly what I'm expecting: smooth shots from start to finish.
I actually started using my Phantom 2 with no props on to get smooth following shots. I just turn the Phantom on and wait for the zenmuse to work its magic (used it from the back of a car to film another car, without flying)

The gimbal keeps video incredibly stable. As the quadcopter turns, the landing legs sometimes show. Apparently a firm ware upgrade will help with that. Very pleased!

This is, by far and long, the best gimbal on the market today with the gopro 4.
