The Phantom 2 Vision+ v2.0 Quadcopter with Gimbal-Stabilized 14MP, 1080p Camera from DJI is based on the same air frame as the Phantom 2 and Phantom 2 Vision. Unlike its siblings, however, it features a 14 MP camera that is stabilized and controlled with an integrated 3-axis gimbal. Gimbal stabilization makes the Phantom 2 Vision+ ideal for shooting aerial footage and photos. The camera can take 14 MP, Adobe DNG RAW photos, and can record video in 1080p Full HD at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps for creating slow motion effects.

The Phantom 2 Vision+ ships ready-to-fly, meaning that a radio controller--often referred to as a transmitter is included with it and is pre-bound to the aircraft and that only minimal assembly using common household tools is required. It features a 5,200 mAh battery that can sustain the quadcopter in the air for up to 25 minutes. The transmitter features a line-of-sight range of up to 2625', depending on conditions.

The camera is controlled via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi using an app available for iOS and Android devices. Using the supplied mount, you can attach your smartphone directly to the controller, giving you a "heads up" display directly from the camera's point-of-view. From the app you will also be able to start and stop video recording, take a snapshot and even tilt the camera up or down.

Because of the complexity associated with multi-rotor aircraft the Phantom 2 Vision+ relies on a GPS-based navigation system to maintain flight stability and provide other features. While fully manual operation is possible, most users, especially videographers hoping to get the smoothest possible shoots, will opt for GPS attitude mode. GPS attitude mode is an autopilot system that keeps the Quadcopter stable and right-side-up when moving, and holds it in a fixed horizontal and vertical position whenever you release the controls. This is ideal for shooting video because you can compensate for light or moderate wind that might otherwise cause the aircraft to drift.

As with the other Phantom 2 models, 5200 mAh battery system is simplified over the original version 1 Phantom. The battery now slots in, and provides LED indicators on outside, tail-end of the aircraft so they can be seen in flight. Charging is also simplified, with all of the charging circuitry built into the battery itself. You simply need to plug it into the wall with the supplied universal AC adapter. An DC car charger, available separable, can also be used.

The Phantom 2 Vision+ includes a Wi-Fi Range extender that will increase the wireless range of the smartphone used for FPV camera operation up to nearly 2300' line-of-sight. The range extender mounts on the transmitter (radio controller) along with the smartphone.

Finally, there is a 4GB MicroSD card included to help get you started filming and taking photos with the 14MP camera.

Gimbal Stabilized 14 MP HD Camera
The Phantom 2 Vision+ features a 14 MP camera specially with integrated 3-axis gimbal designed specifically for use with the Quadcopter. In addition to photos, the camera can record 1920 x 1080 resolution video at 30 fps and 720 video at 60 fps. The camera is controlled wirelessly via WiFi using an app available for smartphones with Android or iOS. Internal recording is to a MicroSD memory cards. Additionally, once captured footage can be uploaded from your smartphone to social media websites such as Facebook
Attitude and GPS Attitude Flight Modes
The Phantom 2 Vision+ flight control system has two computer-assisted flight modes for you to choose from. Of the two, GPS attitude mode is the most automatic. In GPS attitude mode the Quadcopter will stop as soon as you release the controls and stay hovering at a fixed horizontal and vertical position. This setting is the easiest to fly and is generally preferred for shooting video as the Quadcopter won't sway or drift because of light wind gusts

The second, attitude mode, is a more manual flying mode in which the Phantom Vision does not try and maintain a fixed spatial position. When you release the controls it will continue to drift unless friction slows it down or you stop it. And in this mode it will be more likely to be blown around if there is any wind. This not a true manual mode, however, in that the GPS navigation system is still used to maintain flight stability and by the "return to home" feature in the event of signal loss.
Return to Home Failsafe
If the Quadcopter loses the signal from the controller for any reason the "return to home" feature will initialize. The aircraft will ascend to 60 feet then make a straight-line course back to the "home position" you will have defined during the GPS calibration process. Once there, it will safely descend to the ground and power itself off
Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC)
IOC is designed to help make flying more intuitive. Nominally, the yaw control will allow the Quadcopter to rotate continuously, which can quickly become confusing if you lose track of which way is "front". Suddenly your controls can get mixed up, where pressing right causes the craft to move left and pressing forward causes it move backward. Intelligent Orientation Control prevents this from happening, keeping the "tail" of the Quadcopter pointed roughly toward the pilot at all times
DJI Vision iOS and Android App
The DJI Vision App for iOS and Android smartphones provides many functions apart from just FPV monitoring, such as telemetry of vital flight stats including remaining battery and number of GPS satellites and a radar scope to help avoid collisions. It also features full camera control, letting you set parameters such as camera tilt, ISO, Shutter Speed, White balance as well as set video start/stop and take photos. Once recorded, photos and video footage can be downloaded directly to the phone allowing them to be shared on Facebook, Instagram or other social media networks, even while the Quadcopter is still in the air
Assistant Software
Windows- and OSX-based software allows you to enable Intelligent Orientation Control (IOC), update firmware, and adjust other aircraft and transmitter parameters. In addition, the software allows you to unlock the manual flying mode. Manual Mode will override all autopilot redundancy and failsafes, therefore should only be engaged by experienced pilots
Slot-In Battery with LED Status Indicators
A 5200 mAh battery slots into the "tail" of the Phantom 2 and enables up to 25 minutes of flying time. It features and on/off switch and four LED charge indicators that are visible while flying so you can keep track of remaining flight time. For recharging, balance and power regulation is handled internally within the battery itself. You simply plug it into a wall outlet with the supplied power cord and you are good to go
Included 5.8 GHz Transmitter
The Phantom 2 Vision+ features an included 5.8 GHz RF remote transmitter, with dual toggle joystick controls similar to the kind found on other multi-rotor RC aircraft. The left stick controls throttle (up/down) and yaw (essentially rotation). And the right stick controls roll (side-to-side tilt) and pitch (tilting the nose up or down). A switch on the top right lets you choose between Attitude and GPS flight modes and a similar switch on the left lets you select between IOC modes. The control unit also features a detachable mount for holding your smartphone
LED Status Indicator
LED status light on the rear struts of the Phantom 2 Vision provide you with various feedback as well as warnings. Colors alternate between green, amber and red and can either be flashing or solid. These messages give you valuable information such as whether the GPS system is properly calibrated, warning you the battery is getting low or telling you the remote's signal is out of range
Self-Tightening Rotor
The Phantom 2 features a rotor design that is new for this model. There is no longer a separate prop nut and the threading is designed to be self-tightening, so there is no danger of a loose prop coming off in flight

B&H did a fantastic job getting the Phantom to me as promised. Good price too. This is not a toy, and people should treat it like it is a $5,000 device and make sure they know what they are doing before they fly it. Too many people charge the batteries and go outside and try to fly it before they read the manual 2 or 3 times.

I had the Phantom 2 Vision and got the Vision Plus. Major improvement in stability and usability of video because of the stabilized gimbal. Camera quality is impressive and stills are fantastic. Watch other videos on the web to learn what works best. Lots of great features, I won't repeat them here.

If you get one, here are things you should know. WiFi interference will shorten range in most neighborhoods, so try it in a rural area to prove to yourself the video link FPV range on your iPhone meets the promise. Alway make sure you calibrate the compass at a new flying location. Automatic wind-drift holds camera in one location for great shots, but as soon as you push the control stick the wind correction software gives you complete control. If you are close to an obstacle or tree, expect the wind to drift it into trouble causing you some very expensive damage, and so far service parts are almost impossible to get.

If you want to go straight ahead in a cross wind, you have to apply your own wind drift correction or it will drift into obstacles, buildings or people. You have to fly safe, stay below 400 feet, and respect people's privacy or you will get yelled at, arrested, fined or a bloody nose.

Most people stop trying to land it in the wind, and just hover it at 5 or 6 feet, walk over and grab the landing gear and shut it down, avoiding the tip over, prop damage when it is drifting sideways during the landing.

This is a great package for an excellent value price. The software and features are amazing in my opinion. I am a pilot, electrical engineer, ham operator and RC hobby pilot. This product is easier to fly than any quad copter or RC plane.

To get the best videos, stop flying while recording. Slow down pans to painfully slow, or the video will be panning way too fast. Keep speeds very slow if you expect the video to be enjoyable to watch. Fast flying, quick, dizzying spins make for terrible videos. Let the camera be stationary and the action in the video create the "movement". Cars moving, people moving, birds flying, trees waving, those prove it is a video. Few quality videographers would move, pan or zoom their camera unless they are tracking a moving obstacle. Flying beside a car, boat or bike make better shots that flying over things too fast. Make super slow moves if you expect people to enjoy the video. With the wide field of view your audience has a lot to take in, so keep the panning and motion to a minimum and viewers will be more impressed.

Read the instructions, be smart, safe and courteous. You have tremendous liability if you screw up including "manslaughter" if you take down a plane full of people. Some web videos posted flights out of sight to 2,500 feet, which should cost the pilot $10,000 and the FAA is issuing such fines when the see those and find out who did it.

I'm very surprised by all the positive reviews. Maybe my unit was a dud, or maybe others have very low expectations. I returned mine because of 2 serious problems:
    1. The auto-exposure ajustments are stepped! This makes recorded footage unsuable for professional use any time there's a slight shift in lighting and the camera does an auto compensation. There's no manual exposure mode to avoid this problem.
    2. The image is either way too sharp, or so soft it looks out of focus. The camera's settings allow you to set the sharpness level. Standard sharpness is so overly sharp that it looks horrible any time you have parallel lines, such as in buildings or bricks. The low sharpness level leaves the picture looking out of focus beyond repair in post.

What DJI needs to do is provide a quadcopter with the Vision's integrated video transmition, but for use with a GoPro Hero 3+ Black camera, which doesn't have the problems mentioned above. For now, I'll keep using my Phantom 2 with GoPro, which I also bought from B&H. 1 star for the Vision. 5 stars as always for B&H that makes returns so easy!

    Comments about DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ v2.0 Quadcopter with Gimbal-Stabilized 14MP, 1080p Camera:

This is my first quadcopter, and first remote controlled flying gadget, and it is very easy to operate and enjoy. Sounds like a swarm of bees. The controls are basic and stright forward. I have a Galaxy S3 phone with Android OS and it connects perfectly. However, the size of the S3 screen makes it somewhat difficult to watch the live feed video, especially in sunny weather. You need a shade or something to block the glare so you can see what's on the screen. I've put a towel over my head and the controller and that works great, but looks pretty silly. The 14 MP camera takes beautiful images and videos; very clear and steady. I would highly recommend this to beginners (like myself), but caution them to operate in wide, open areas. I was operating in tight quarters, and ran mine into a tree, and it fell onto and bounced on a sidewalk from about 8' high, poping the battery out (thought it was a gonner). But, everything appears to be working fine, less a few scratches. Tough little bird. I've tried the return to home feature a couple times in a controlled area (a few meters away) and it works like a charm. I hope I never have to use it for real, but it appears to work as described. I find that calibrating the compass is a bit tricky, but it will calibrate after a couple attempts (may have something to do with the tree and sidewalk). The drone battery life is adequate for my purposes, about 20-30 minutes of flying per charge. The wifi extender takes a while to charge, but seems to hold it for quite a while. The controller takes AA batteries. Other than operator error, this quadcopter is awesome. Do the basic flyer training drills to get the hang of the controls too. Also, people are intrigued by this drone, and it's the first one many have seen. Its a great conversation piece and everyone is amazed at the quality of the video. I've flown it in my neighborhood a few times, and at some public parks, and I haven't had anyone complain about it yet. I did overhear one goober say that if it ever flew over his house he'd shoot it down, but I doubt he would be sober enough to hit it if he did shoot.

Amazing Machine. This is not a toy

    Comments about DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ v2.0 Quadcopter with Gimbal-Stabilized 14MP, 1080p Camera:

after you buy this, leave it in the box and read the manual at least twice. be sure to download the software for the Phantom and the RC controller and the mobile app for the camera. once you are completely satisfied you know what you are doing take it out of the box. For your first flight be sure there is no wind and go to an open grass field. After take off perform the procedures as suggest d in the flight manual. looking back I would recommend keeping your movements very simple such as just up and down, forward and backwards.
I broke 4 blades in the first two days. Keep away from buildings and concrete surfaces until you really know what you are doing. the product is durable and he controls are sensitive.
once you have mastered it you will have a blast! I would recommend this to anyone that is an amateur or a professional cinematographer. Buy at least two batteries as they only last about 15-20 minutes. Happy flying.
P.S. This product should come with a mandatory training lesson as I am sure many people end up buying it twice after they crash it their first time.

I'm seeing that straight line view is important in order to prevent the device from going into fail safe mode. I'd advise against using this device in wooded areas as this too prevents the Phantom from seeing the remote signal. Startup procedures are very important.

The DJI Phantom 2 Vision + is incredible. It's complicated, but once you get used to it, it's magic! The video you can capture is beyond anything before unless you own a helicopter yourself. The cost makes it a little scary to fly, knowing that a crash or malfunction can cost you over $[$], but to me it's worth the gamble.

Very easy to fly, and I'm extremely happy with the quality of the video and the 14mp stills. Obviously it takes some getting used to, but the IOC modes make it much easier. I would not agree that Course Lock is an advanced mode. I think it makes it easier for beginners to have complete, and intuitive, control of the drone. All connections to the iPhone have worked perfectly.
            I love this product.

I'm a hobbyist that likes to use the Phantom 2 Vision + to capture ariel images that up to now were not possible. The Vision + is easy to control. It's stabilized gimbal makes for some really smooth video. I don't like how it drifts in the wind sometimes; nothing that can be corrected at the controls though. I wish that DJI would consider a higher resolution camera as it's no match for DSLR's by any means. Careful where you fly as authorities don't always agree.

                Comments about DJI Phantom 2 Vision+ v2.0 Quadcopter with Gimbal-Stabilized 14MP, 1080p Camera:

The phantom is one of the best affordable quadcopters on the market. The features and performance of the Phantom 2 Vision+ continue to amaze me! I'm a 17 year old photographer and I do a lot of event/sport photography. I've been asked to do more aerial photos and videos recently, but due to my age, renting the equipment necessary has been nearly impossible in most cases. The DJI takes excellent quality stills and videos. The built in gimbal is probably one of the most impressive features of the Vision+ model. Videos are unbelievably stable and the quality is good enough for most professional applications. The Phantom's GPS functions like return to home and position holding are wonderful (haven't failed me once!) I was a bit nervous the first time I saw $ flying off into the sunset when the remote died, but I was immediately surprised by the quadcopter being back and landed before I could get new batteries in the remote! Anyone who wants to get into aerial photography or videography should get one of these. It's very easy to fly with a little practice and the quality is excellent! I highly recommend watching B&H's videos on the Phantom before going for a flight. While the DJI manuals are good, seeing the videos makes it much easier to understand. My only complaints so far:The phone clip won't hold my Galaxy S5 tightly. If you have an iPhone 6 or large Android phone, you're going to have to do some tweaking.Getting my iOS devices to connect takes a bit longer than my Android devices, but in the end they all work the same. Some other notes:I highly recommend the bundles available through B&H that include an extra battery/case. Transporting the quadcopter without a case is not easy! The blades have to stay straight (or be removed) and it's difficult to protect.

As an intermediate photographer and total drone neophyte, I was nervous about spending such money. Today was the maiden flight, and I am so happy with the decision! It does fly easily; it does take great images, and I can't wait to use it everywhere.
The downsides are written elsewhere: battery life is short (but is just a limitation of current battery technology), and I couldn't get the computer program to recognize the controller, but those don't reduce the five-star rating. A fine machine.

I spent a lot of reading and researching about quads before I purchased, and this one has not disappointed. A couple of things, if your a newbie like me buy the prop guards or you will send your props into the dirt when you land if it isn't perfectly level. Second, if you have gps problems do the shielding mod, you can find out all about on youtube. I did and I haven't been dropping my gps links.

                    I really like it.

All I can say us wow! I work in the IT field, and have played with alot of technology over the years, but this just ices the cake, dips it in chocolate, and covers it in sugar!!Dji has outdone themselves with this quadcopter. They have made this copter easy to fly , and added really cool functionality by incorporating camera controls via an app on your phone. The app allows you to control the panning of the camera, and gives you full gps control to set home locations, and way points! With full 1080p video, and 14mp camera capabilities this quad is just amazing! There is also a full line up of aftermarket parts and accessories available for the vision 2 plus+What more could you ask for?
