The camo Dark Ops Trail Camera from Browning is a sub micro series camera that has a CMOS image sensor and captures 10MP still images and 2-min HD 1280 x 720 video clips with sound. Its infrared LED flash features a range of over 70' at night. Time-lapse shooting mode captures images at pre-set intervals from 5 sec to 5 min, enabling you to see change over time. The camera also offers motion-detect mode via the PIR (passive infrared) motion sensor, which has a detection range of 40-45' and a fast trigger speed of 0.7 sec. Enjoy the ability to capture up to 8 images in Multi-Shot mode or 6 in Rapid Fire mode--ensuring that you don't miss the action. A small text LCD screen displays information such as mode, number of pictures or videos taken, and remaining battery life.

The Dark Ops runs on 6 AA alkaline or lithium batteries, which are available separately, and is configured with a 12V external power jack. It accepts SD/SDHC memory cards up to 32GB. It is equipped with a TV Out connector for viewing images on a television screen and a USB port for file transfer to a computer. The included Buck Watch Timelapse Viewer Software CD-ROM allows you to play back your time-lapse video files on a computer running the Windows XP, Vista or 7 operating system.

Image Resolution
Captures 10MP still images and HD 1280 x 720 video clips with sound, thanks to the CMOS image sensor and built-in microphone.
Sub Micro Series
This series features the most compact case design for a lower profile and more covert trail camera.
Infrared Flash
The infrared LED flash features a range of over 70' at night, and is very discreet--ensuring that it won't scare off wildlife.
PIR Motion Sensor
Motion-activated PIR (passive infrared) sensor features a detection range of 40-45' and a fast trigger speed of 0.7 sec. It detects the changes in temperature that occur when subjects move, and captures images in response. Benefit from a programmable picture/video delay of 5.0, 10, 20 or 30 sec, or 1, 5.0, 10, 30 or 60 min.
Time-Lapse Shooting
Captures images at pre-set intervals of 5.0, 10, 15 or 30 sec, or 1.0, 2.0 or 5.0 min, enabling you to see change over time. Time-lapse mode allows the camera to capture time-lapse images during daytime. Time-lapse Plus mode does the same thing, but also activates the motion sensor during both day and night, ensuring that you don't miss any game activity. Time-lapse duration can also be set, in order to control the number of hours per day the camera spends in time-lapse mode. You can set duration to all day (sunrise to sunset) or select 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0 hr after sunrise and another 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0 hr prior to sunset. The camera learns the length of a day and consistently adjusts the 2.0, 3.0 or 4.0 hr duration automatically.
Multi-Shot Mode
Set the camera to capture 1-8 shots in quick succession when triggered. If you select 4-shot standard, the camera will take 4 pictures spaced 3 sec apart. Rapid Fire mode allows for even faster shots, taking up to 6 exposures spaced only 0.3 sec apart.
Video
HD 1280 x 720 or 640 x 480 videos can be captured in the following clip lengths: 5.0, 10, 20 or 30 sec, or 1.0 or 2.0 min. To conserve battery power, nighttime videos are limited to a maximum length of 10 sec.
Display
Camera has a small text LCD screen that displays camera operation mode, number of photos or videos taken, number of photos or videos that can be captured with the SD card, camera delay countdown, and battery life percentage. The camera modes that can be displayed include trail (still photos), video, Time-lapse and Time-lapse Plus. Additionally, you can add a custom name to your camera.
Information Bar
Displays time, date, temperature in °F or °C, barometric pressure, moon phase and camera ID. By showing the phase of the moon, the camera allows you to see which animals are inactive during a full or nearly-full moon--when the brighter lighting conditions will make them more visible to predators. Moon phase also helps you determine if brighter or darker backgrounds in your images are due to the fullness of the moon. The information bar can be turned on or off.
Motion Test
Helps you aim the camera at your target area. When motion is detected in this area, a red LED on the front of the camera will flash.
Connectivity
Equipped with a TV Out connector for viewing images on a television screen and a USB port for file transfer to a computer (USB cable sold separately).
Power
Runs on 6 AA alkaline or lithium batteries, which are available separately, and is configured with a 12V external power jack for an optional external battery. There is a convenient "battery eject" button in the top corner.
Mounting
Configured with a standard 1/4"-20 tripod mount. Additionally, a supplied nylon strap with a length of 6.0' and a width of 1.0" threads through the mounting loops at the rear of the camera to enable you to attach the camera to a tree. The optional Browning Trail Camera Tree Mount has a locking gimbal that lets you position your camera at the optimal angle.
Security
Features a hole for an optional padlock. At the rear of the camera are built-in security cable loops, ideal for a locking steel cable or 5/16" Python cable lock (not included). A steel security box can also be purchased separately.
Bundled Software
The included Buck Watch Timelapse Viewer Software CD-ROM allows you to play back your time-lapse video files on a computer running the Windows XP, Vista or 7 operating system. See an entire day's worth of images in only a few minutes, or view each image one-by-one. For a quick look at long video files, you can use the Activity Search function to allow the software to skip frames with no game activity and stop only on frames where game or movement is present. Rewind, pause, play, zoom in and zoom out controls are at your fingertips, and you can also save and share still images or export video clips. When a software upgrade is available, it will be posted on the manufacturer's website, along with detailed instructions for downloading. If the CD is ever lost or missing, you can download a free copy of the software from the same website.

First, I should explain that this camera was not purchased for monitoring game, but to monitor a feral cat family that we have in the back lot at my work. We have been feeding them and built a shelter for them but 3 skunks started to show up. We feed the cats in the morning now and remove any leftover food once they have had their fill. We are using the camera to help monitor things to see if the skunks have moved on. The camera worked very well in doing this. The photos are very detailed as we gathered 1300 pictures over a 3 day period (man, them cats move around a lot!) and only saw one skunk and one raccoon in that time, so our plan looks to be working. All the photos are very detailed as we were able to identify the skunk and raccoon and we can tell the differences between all six cats. The camera worked so well that our CEO borrowed over Thanksgiving to set up at his house as he has a lot of backwoods property with lots of game on it. The camera captured a few deer and various critters. It works well for both day and night photos and has a lot of options for how you would like the photos to be taken. We have not used the video setting yet, but if it works like the rest of the options, it should be just fine. We did buy a 32GB card for it, and have only used roughly 2GBs so far. Being in Chicago, it has been out in subfreezing temps and rain and snow and it has had no effect on the camera. All in all, this is a great camera and well worth the price.

This camera has so much potential, but lacked in the most important areas for me, picture quality and detection. I tried using different resolutions and that produced the same results. Strangely while the pictures were grainy looking (both day and night) the video quality was much better. Camera was easy to setup, loved the compact size and weight, sturdy cable and locking system.

One evening, I was actually hunting and watching deer for 25 to 30 minutes while the camera should have been taking pictures every minute. The game walked well within the advertised detection range, yet the camera captured only ONE image. I was expecting to relive the hunt with pictures from the trail camera. Needless to say, I was very disappointed.

Easy on batteries and with an 8GB or greater memory card, it takes a lot of pictures and/or videos. The deer and other wildlife don't see it because of the dark lens on the front. It's a great buy and BHPhoto gets it to you fast.

I got very nice pictures in my yard of some deer that I knew traveled behind my fence.

I put out in the woods for a week set on timelapse plus and got nice pictures, but just one squirrel on the cam. This can be due to my setup/spot so not blaiming the cam yet.

Put back out and I'll see what happens.

Comments about Browning Dark Ops Trail Camera:

I replaced two cameras with these. I also bought the tree mounts. They are easily used and take great pictures. These are much better than other cameras I have had in the past.
