The Pelican 1508 Photographer's Lid Organizer is designed specifically for the Pelican 1500 or 1520 case. It installs easily with the included touch fastener strips. I use this in the lid of my 1520 tool case. It gives me room for extra tools/parts that will not fit in the pallets or the foam below. Works great!

Bought to put in Pelican 1514 case w dividers - organizer somewhat too small (by 3.5") to fit the lid properly - see photo. This makes attachment to the case difficult, since the mounting knobs on the lid are too far apart. Similarly, the self-adhesive tape mounting alternative doesn't work as a neat alternative, since the lid's mounting knobs get in the way. I actually used four screws to install it, but the right hand end of the organizer is not attached securely. Not that this is a terribly serious problem, but it's not as well designed as I would like. Otherwise, it does an adequate job of keeping the little things from getting lost.

Easy to install, and adds valuable extra storage space to Pelican case. You do have to remove the piece of foam in the lid in order to use this organizer, but since I'm not dropping my case out of an airplane, or letting a gorilla play with it, it's not an issue for me. Storing small items in this organizer frees up valuable space in the case for larger equipment. Highly recommended!

In any way better than the foam top, which is included in the cases by default. Only 4 stars because of the tricky, fiddly zippers which need 2-hand-operation in many cases.

The Pelican 1520 is a great case for a DSLR with 2-3 lens and misc equipment. Waterproof and dustproof. Recommend dividers as they can be rearranged as preferred. The case is a bit on the heavy side.

The organizer is designed to fit a smaller pelican case also so it ends up measuring about a 1/2 inch smaller all around within the 1525 lid. Still functional though. Comes with film canister holders which I'll have to use for something else since we shoot digital.

There aren't any other great alternatives so from that point of view, it is only game in town unless you dig around for an alternative. It is useful. When mounting in a Pelican case, using the sticky tape, mount it low, towards the hinges, or you will have difficulty using the pockets.
I have a LowePro insert made for a Pelican 1520 which is just better than the entire Pelican padded setup. Though you do lose some space over the Pelican unit and it is more $$
