This is an excellent camera, and one that I highly recommend. I bought the A6000 to use alongside my Nikon D800, and formerly my Canon 5D III (stolen). I wanted a system that was very capable, yet, very compact and small enough to carry around all day without regretting that I took it with me in the first place. To sit alongside the D800 and 5D III, the camera had to perform. I must say, now that I have been using the A6000 for the past couple of weeks I absolutely love it, it's a stellar camera in just about every way, Sony really knocked it out of the park with this one.

Resolution: I love the 24MP sensor on this camera, the IQ is great. I like a lot of resolution in general, I would rather have and not need, than need and not have, especially as I routinely print 32X48's and 40X60 prints. Now a days memory cards and hard drives are even very inexpensive, so storage space being an issue is a thing of the past. I think that the 24MP sensor on this camera does a great job with dynamic range and also noise control as well.

AutoFocus: Amazing, the autofocus system works as advertised, which I must say I was initially skeptic of when i first heard about. I would even go as far to say that the auto focus system on the A6000 is better than my D800 and 5d III in good light, and just has good in lower light situations. Given the fact that you can shoot at 11FPS, anyone could see how this is an advantage.

Low Light: Some people have expressed concern that they are not comfortable with the low light performance of this camera past ISO 3200. I am more than comfortable with the low light performance with this camera at 6400, as long as I am not going to print the image more than a 11X19. Part of the reason why I like the 24MP sensor on this camera is due to the fact that we have the ability to down-sample the image to a lower MP, upon importing the file into Lightroom or photoshop. Taking a 24MP file and down-sampling it to a 12-16MP, not only improves the sharpness of the photo, but it also improves the noise handling characteristics as well. From my experience with this camera so far, both from from uploading images to 500PX and printing images out, I can say for sure that the A6000 does a great job handling noise.

Battery: Leaves a little to be desired, but it is also hard to complain. The battery is small, smaller for sure than the one's in my DSLR's so I can see why they don't last as long. In addition to that, this camera wasn't marketed as a pro body (although you can use just about any modern DSLR/Mirrorless for the task) so the battery life wasn't going to be as strong. The good news is that the battery are small and also pretty inexpensive. Buy a one or two extra and throw them in your pocket, or a small bag.

Viewfinder: I like it, it's hard to beat for the price point. It's clear and does a great job. No complaints

Video: One thing that I have not heard much mention of is the video capabilities of this camera. I shoot video with Nikon D800's, Canon 5D III's Canon 7D's and canon XA20's. In my opinion this little mirrorless system shoots some of the best video that I have scene out of any camera short of something you would pay $6000.00 and up for. The quality is amazing and blew expectations I had in regard to video out of the water. My only request was that I will it is 4K, but if it was I would be willing to bet Sony would have listed it at a much higher price.

Lens Selection: I will say this, Sony has done a decent job of lens creation for this system, especially if you take into consideration some of the small and compact ones like the 16-50 (not a great lens alone, but very compact and does a decent job once corrected and sharpened in PP). Now with that, Sony needs to get more serious and add more capable lenses for the E-Mount system. Right now my recommendations for this system is the 35mm F1.8, 50mm F1.8, the 10-18mm F4 and the Sony - Vario-Tessar T* E 16-70mm f/4.

First off when I went to the support website everytime I clicked on download it would return to the same page, So I don't have the software or firmware updrades, and the manuel was a short version instruction manuel of 48 pages. I found the Sony English website had a larger 209 page manuel un available on Sony USA.

I like the camera, but it didn't come with a shoe cover that I thought was tacky. The complexity of options, and lack of in depth descriptions of their utilization has me still experimenting rather than shooting productively.

In short, great camera (so far) and poor support!

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

If you've played with a mirrorless camera already, especially one of the Sony ones, then nothing here will surprise you. It's the same as the other Alpha cameras, only everything is 3x better/faster/sharper! While not revolutionary, this is a big evolutionary jump that gets several steps closer to bridging to the gap with consumer-grade DSLR's, in half the size and at half the price.

There's been many raving reviews already so I'll keep it short. Basically, you get a lot for the money! Nicely designed camera, nice fit in hand as long as your hands aren't HUGE, good EVF, easy to control after initial setup, fast AF, and great image quality. Its been called the best bang-for-the-buck in the mirrorless segment and I have to agree.

Personally the only thing I wish it had is a touchscreen for selecting focus point. It was really handy on my Sony 5R.

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

I bought this after years of point & shoots - I did a portrait project at work with a co-worker's canon sl1 with a great sigma prime and was hooked. I chose the a6000 for a number of reasons:

•great specs (sensor size, continuous drive, image/video quality)
•size/weight/build quality (am I comfortable carrying it? am I deathly afraid of a little ding to the body?)
•ease of use (do i love using it? was it easy to pick up, find settings, get shooting?)
•room to grow (am i going to want a better/different body in six months?)

the lens selection for e-mount isn't super robust, but there are a number of prime lenses that appealed to me, and I like that there are many vintage lenses that will adapt to e-mount. I ended up with the Sony 50mm/1.8 OSS and I've been happily shooting ever since (this particular deal from B&H made the purchase very easy for me). I don't think the smaller collection of lenses is real negative for the system as there is almost certainly a lens available to suit anyone's needs/wants, and a whole range of adapters.

There are a lot of features which I haven't dug into yet, but I love shooting with the a6000 and so far I've been filling my external drive with great images, indoors and outdoors. Like any new system there are new menus and control layouts to learn, but this has not been a hindrance as things tend to make sense.

The video specs met my requirements and so far the quality is what I'd expect from the lens/body combo I'm using. There is no included in put for external recorders which may be a grumble for some but does not effect my use cases for video with the a6000. It's a light body so a tripod or steadicam-style grip can be very helpful.

the 50m lens does make for a unique focal length (effectively 75mm, a bit zoomed), but takes nothing but gorgeous photos. for the price it would be very very hard to beat, even if the length takes some getting used to. I've gotten so many pictures that are real "wow" shots, up close and at a great distance (clearly picking out objects with manual focus is easy).

The lack of a dedicated switch to flip from auto to manual focus is a design quirk, but setting up the function buttons on the body is a fine workaround, and over time this has not been a huge hindrance. auto-focus is very fast and extremely quiet (i've only heard the lens working away in extraordinarily quiet conditions). this is also a bigger lens, so it's not quite pocketable, but all in all the a6000+50mm is quite portable and easy to use on the move.

The details and colors are stunning.I love the customization of the function keys, makes operation faster without having to go through the Menu system, which is actually very logical and easy to navigate. All in all: better that my Nikon D5300 at half the weight. BTW, Sony does not provide a hot-shoe cover, but I bought on e on[*] for a buck.

IT fits well and is quite reminiscent of the Nex7 I used to own. I also find the EVF to be at least as good as the Nex7 for color and refresh rate and usability.

The only thing that is missing is a mic jack, which has required me to look at other options ~ external audio recorders, which kind of defeat the purpose for a portable solution. But, video to me, right now, is not a big issue for me.

                  I would buy again...

I am an advanced amateur with Canon DSLR (60 D)and several Canon lenses. I wanted a lighter ILC for travel and landscape photography. I am impressed with the quick AF, the color rendition is fantastic.. Comparable to the Fuji camera lineup. I chose Sony( for the first time) because of price and product specs.Battery life is terrible. Maybe a firmware update in the near future.

I would recommend this product up to the ProLevel

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Silver):

By far, as advertised, this camera's af is the fastest among sony mirroless, and is comparable to many DSLRs as well as olympus models.
It has a really good image qualities even at high ISO.
However, its af accuracy is still questionable in low light setting. Other than that, you would find this amazing with its af and image quality.

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

A6000 is a small camera crammed with many features. Not all of them are useful to me. I will mention some features I like the most and several drawbacks.

+ Focus peaking and a tiltable LCD enable me to take decent pictures without keeping the camera close to my eyes. It would be even better if the LCD can be seen from the front of the camera (like in RX100 III), so we can have the sharpest selfies on earth :)
+ Hand-held twilight (HHT) and anti motion blur (AMB) modes yield clean and clear pictures in the evening. The image quality is automatically changed from RAW to JPG when you use these modes.
+ Multi frame noise reduction (MFNR) now is integrated in ISO selection (you don't need to install it as an app as in NEX-6). Unlike HHT and AMB, which automatically adjust all parameters, MFNR enables you to custommize shutter speed and aperture. However, you need to manually change the image quality to JPG to turn MFNR on. In order to switch the image quality quickly, I assign IQ switcher to a customizable key (C2). You can also use 1 of 3 available "memory" modes.

                  - Battery runs out very quickly. You should bring an extra battery if you plan to take more than 120 pictures. I didn't buy an extra one because I seldom take many pictures without rest (and recharge).
                  - The camera can be pretty warm when being used for a long time.
                  - If you use flash mode with an ultra wide len, it's likely that you will see the len shadow in the picture. An external flash might help, yet I don't think I will bring so many accessories for a mirrorless camera.
                  - About the image colors, it's up to your personal preference. I found Fuji colors more artistic and comfortable, while it seems that Sony is pursuiting "realistic" colors.

All in all, if you love classic Fuji body and colors, you might want to look at an X-Pro or an X-E1. Otherwise, A6000 will not disappoint you with fast AF, sharp images, NR in low light, and a bundle of well-built lens from Sony and Zeiss.

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Silver):

                    I recently upgraded my Sony NEX5K to a NEX6.

The major changes in the 2 cameras is the built in view finder and moving the camera functions to a knob for faster changes of mode options.

I appreciate the viewfinder when using the camera in bright sunlight.

The camera also seems to auto focus faster.

The battery life is a bit lower then my NEX 5. However, I always carry 2 batteries making this a non-issue.

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

So far, this camera has turned into the best camera I've ever owned. I specifically wanted a mirrorless camera but a digital interface and the ability to switch up my lenses. My experience is amateur compared to actual photographers out there, but I am an artist and have the eye for details. I must have read over 100 reviews over the course of a 2 weeks while I researched for the right choice. What I found was exactly what I needed - sharp focus, expert quality photos, and a plethora of dynamic choices to either go manual or use "intelligent auto" - great buy! Go for it; you won't be sorry!

My only criticism is the battery life, so regardless, just buy an extra battery and charger and you'll be fine :) Shoot, grab 2 just in case!

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

I think that Sony is making a big mistake by not making a propper nex-7 replacement. The build quality seems cheaper, lower resolution electronic viewfinder, no mic input and for me the most irritating: no digital level gauge (virtual horizon). The battery has smaller capacity than the one in nex-7... Have the battery tech gone backwards? I think that this is just a market segmenting strategy to force the current more advanced customers with nex-7 and a lot of lenses to upgrade to A7 series, which was placed in the premium segment, and leaving the aps-c system without any advaned body. You want advanced features? Buy a whole new system. I hope Sony will release an fully featured camera with aps-c sensor with more features than nex-7 and a6000 combined. A9000 please. I'm shooting a lot of landscape photos with the nex-7 and 10-18mm f4 OSS, and I loved the fact that one could make a perfectly leveled and stabilized shot without any external equipment nor a tripod. Now I will have both cameras in my camera bag, nex-7 for the landscapes and a6000 with 16-70mm f4 as the action, all around combo.
I also bought the LA-EA3 adapter, counting on the possibility to use my Sigma 150mm f2.8 macro lens withouth the Trancelucent Mirror but the focusing is not working at all, it hunts forever... It works with SAL1650 but the performance is quite poor, the camera does not take any advantage of it's on sensor phase detection, unfortunately. The LA-EA2 adapter works quite well though.
I have to say that the smooth focusing in video mode made a great impression on me. AF in general seems great. Also I'm glad that the menu system was hanged to alpha style.

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

Coming from the NEX-6, the A6000 is a huge step forward.

Increased Megapixel count from the NEX-6's 16MP to A6000's 24MP.

The autofocus is so fast, almost instantaneous.

The only thing that I miss from the NEX-6 is the built-in Line Leveler.

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Black):

I currently own the a99, a7r, a77m2 as well as the a6000 and I shoot with the a6000 most often.

I see some remarks about the battery drain - please put wifi on "airplane mode" and that will help a lot.

The autofocus is the fastest and most intelligent I've yet seen. The viewfinder is not as nice as the other cameras, and I wish it had a sound port as well as a fully articulating screen. But it is so small, and so powerful. It is a very, very rewarding and fun camera to use.

I have had the camera for a couple of months. I was able to give the camera a good workout on a trip to Jackson Wy. and on to the OR. &CA. coast. The camera captured the difference in the tones of color the grays against the snow on the mts. and the different greens of the trees, and the blues of the ocean. The camera is easy to use. The batteries for the NEX 6 fits the A6000. I would have given the camera five stars except for the battery drain. You can take several hundred pictures on a charge, but TURN OFF THE BATTERY between shooting if it is going to be more then a few minutes. Sony tells you in the not so good manual the batteries only last about an hour and a half if you leave the camera on. Back to the good points. The focus is very fast even in low light conditions such as twilight or in the Redwood forest. If you want a small, light, fast focus, easy to use and will give great pictures check out the A6000

Comments about Alpha a6000 Mirrorless Digital Camera Body (Silver):

I am satisfied with the overall performance of the camera, but there are three things that disappoint me: battery life, poor quality LCD screen and the raw format is not yet recognized by my software. It is essential to buy a battery and extra charger.
