It's a well built and very light (15 oz.) bracket. It's compact, flips the correct way, (counter-clockwise/shutter release on top) and has a very nice rotation design to keep the lens centered under flash at all times (if you don't have a vertical battery/grip.)

But it's not perfect, my main complaints with it are:

    1. You almost always have remove any battery/grips to use the flip bracket. (Rotated to vertical mode, the stack of grip, camera, and sync cable is too wide and won't clear the side of the flash bar).

    2. No latch to hold the flash bar in vertical & horizontal position.
With a heavier speedlight it will creep on it's own unless the flip mechanism lock nuts are tightened down just so… (tight enough so it won't creep, but not so much that it makes rotating the camera a chore). You have to keep a wrench handy because the "just so..." will loosen a bit over time. A little fiddly, but it works.

    3. The camera base plate is a little too wide and partially blocks the spot where most cameras' battery doors are. This can be fixed by removing a little Aluminum on the offending corner of the base plate (if you're mechanically inclined) but of course it will void the 5 year warranty.

    4. The lack of their very good camera quick release plate (QRP). I know it's too much to expect the QRP to be included for the price of this bracket, but a package deal of the QRP and the needed camera and flash anti-twist plate(s) would be nice.

All in all, the Stroboframe camera flip flash bracket is a great camera rotator bracket for the money.

I planned on using this bracket for wedding photography, but after receiving the item, I've decided to return it without it ever seeing an event. As the other reviews here discuss, this bracket doesn't lock in with the camera in either portrait or landscape position. Instead it relies on the friction of the rotating mechanism to keep the flash above the camera. I found with a Canon 580EX flash mounted, the weight of the flash caused the bracket to rotate with only the smallest movement when I took my left hand off of the bracket to zoom or focus. Perhaps this could be adjusted by tightening the bolts on the mechanism, but I'm just not willing to constantly fight this issue. If they added a locking mechanism to hold the camera in position, my review would be much higher, but as it is, the bracket is being returned.

    Ok for the money

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

This product works ok for my needs. The one thing I did not like is how the packaged cork board that anchors the camera to the grip did not stick on very well and without it the grip is useless. Should not have a product that is hard to use out of the box

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

I mainly plan on using this for events and weddings. I used it at an event a few days ago, worked great! My flash is higher just like I wanted and gets the look I wanted. My only complaint is that it seems a little shaky. Like it wasn't put together as well. I'm sure if I bought a bracket that was a little more expensive I wouldn't have the problem, but just handle it with a little care and it's not a big deal. It's also a bit heavy, but I expected that.

I purchased the unit for use with my SB 700. The info states the pivots are factory adjusted, and if necessary can be adjusted as needed. Each time I removed my hand from the base, the arm would tilt quickly, moving the flash. I tried adjusting the tension, but the pivot will continuously become loose.
It is impossible use the device in an easy manner. Unit not worth msrp. Ok for price paid.

Lightweight and flips, but you can feel the camera mount plate bend down to the rear when on a tripod. Also, when the pivot and camera returns to horizontal, it goes to a stopper which is beyond horizontal. This crookedness(out of level) drives me crazy. OK if you want a light unit that flips for a wedding, etc.

Went cheap and got what I paid for. It's good but not great. It is large and clumsy when it comes to storing and not smooth in transition from one setting to the other. I have a battery pack on my camera so it is inconvenient when moving the bracket and camera around. Will recommend one that folds to store.

For the price hands down best bracket for the money. The only bad thing is with my T1i won't fit with battery grip when camera is roatated. This is not to big of a problem as the lens would not be aligned with the flash and defeats the purpose of this bracket.

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

This frame is a more compact version of the traditional Stroboframe. It doesn't have a slider that adjusts the height of the arm. The flash is still pretty close to the lens though. You might still get red eye in certain circumstances. The build quality is pretty cheap too. It is manufactured in China as most things are. It is made of extruded aluminium and it bends pretty easily. Mine bent noticibly out of square after a single usage but I could easily bend it back to where I needed it. The plastic hand grip that is covered with foam is very flimsy. It was made for the more expensive frame with the sliding height bracket. I grabbed it once and it crunched like I was going to break it. The stage is also stiff to rotate. This will probably not be the frame that I use for the rest of my career, but it was rather cheap.

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

I purchased this for use with a Canon 5D MK III. It works fairly well. It arrived with the flip arms a lirrle loose for the 5D, so I had to tighten them a bit. I was only able to tighten 3 of the 4 nuts. The 4th was too close to e underside of the mounting plate to accommodate even my small socket wrench, and I didn't have a standard wrench or the right size at the time. My assessment is that there needs to be a bigger space for adjusting the 4th nut.Even so, tightening the other three nuts helped keep the camera from unintentional flips to a vertical orientation. Overall, though, I am happy with the bracket.

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

Great bracket. Strong enough to support large loads, like a 70-200 f/2.8 with a DSLR and a big shoe mount strobe. Light enough not to be a problem.

As others have mentioned, if you camera has an auxilliary battery pack, it might or might not fit. I got my D80 with aux pack to fit, but it was not real stable-I had to do some work on the bracket to make it fit.

ATTENTION Stroboframe: Are you listening? Want to make money?

Make an XL version-exact same product, with 2 minor changes. Make the same product, but 1.5 to 2 inches taller. No only would it go further to reducing red eye, it would work with almost every DSLR camera with an auxiliary battery pack. Your answer might be to just remove the aux. pack when using this, and true, you could do that. But doing that is both a PITA, and puts wear on all sorts of contacts that are not designed for connecting and disconnecting a lot. I never had a problem with my aux. battery pack, in part because I stuck it on and never took it off!

When you make this XL product, make one other change: Put a couple of 1/4-20 threaded holes in the vertical arm-one near the bottom bend, and one above the handle grip. This would allow a user to screw a Black Rapid Fastener 3 (or similar) into the vertical arm, and you could then attach a neck strap (or a hand strap over the grip) and get the load batter balanced, and not rely on the normal camera lugs. Charge $5-8 more for this product and show what it can do-Easy changes, and I bet you will sell a bunch. All I ask for is the fIrst on off the production line!

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

One is over ten years old and still works fine. The only reason it did not get 5 stars is the cheap plastic tension nuts. Take one of the nuts to a real fastener store and get a few metal nuts with nylon inserts. (lock nuts). 10-32 is the size. After a year or so the cheap plastic nuts loose tension and strip. You need to stay on top of the tension or it will go to half mast like other reviewers say. I carry a combo wrench in bag and a leatherman on belt. You will learn which nut to tighten if you pay attention. Put some black gaffers tape top and bottom on the foam grip as it will migrate up/down and twist. The Sc-17 cord was better imho that sc-28. New cords are too tall off hot shoe nodule and cord comes out the wrong side. There are cheaper aftermarket ones that have cord coming towards lens. And the flip lock on cords and flashes is a joke. They need gaffers tape or they get undone during battle. They are very cheaply made. I have an SB900 that the locking mechanism broke on. It is now a gaffers tape item too. And these cords take the impact when some drunk bumps into you. You have a dangling flash. Always caryy a spare bracket or at least a spare off camera cord. Take a file and make room for battery door to open. It is soft aluminum and takes a few minutes. Clean filings well.

the only bad thing is the camera wants to flip if you dont hold it..no fear of it falling out though

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

Very difficult to flip camera into vertical position. The anti-twist plate (300-SLR) I purchased for my Nikon D5100 DSLR did not fit the profile of the camera and could not be used with the bracket. Also, the screw that comes with the anti-twist plate could not be secured into the bracket due to poor workmanship of the hole in the bracket. The included cork pad to be used instead of an anti-twist plate does not steady my camera and was useless.

The concept of the bracket makes sense but more effort needs to be put into designing the anti-twist plates for specific cameras and the spring mechanism to allow the camera to be positioned vertically. Also, the bracket is poorly manufactured as is the case of the screw of the anti-twist plate not being able to be inserted into the hole of the bracket.

                      Needs a Locking Mechanism

Comments about Stroboframe Camera Flip Bracket:

I am using this with a Canon 60D and 600EX-RT Speedlite.
                        It works as advertised.
It seems to be a little awkward getting the camera attached to the base. One thing I wish it had was a locking mechanism so that when you hold the bracket in different positions, it doesn't try to do a flip.
