I loose lens caps by the dozen, so I'm always looking for inexpensive replacements. This one seems to be the equal of the one that came with the lens. The plain cap attracts less attention than one with the manufacture's name all over it.

I bought 2 of these Bower lens caps and both were broken. I'd pinch the sliding piece on either side of the cap and either one or both of the pieces would not decompress.
I returned both caps thinking it was a fluke but again the 2 new exchanged caps had the same problem. I followed the directions of one of the reviewers here and applied wd-40, but that didn't work.
I then did 2 other things and one or both solved my problem. I removed the sliding pieces from the cap in the manner that the other reviewer pointed out and did the following 1) took a knife and shaved "some" of the plastic off of the sides of the sliding pieces, and 2) took the spring and stretched it out some more to give the spring more area to spring to when decompressing.
I think the first thing I did made the most difference. If you buy this cap and experience the same problem, make sure you don't shave too much of the plastic.
Then again, for a dollar or more, you can purchase another lens cap and not have to be bothered with fixing your new purchase.

This is a standard lens cap I purchased to attach to my UV filter on my HF11. One of the sliding pieces stuck when I first got it, so I had to modify the product. I used a needle nose plier to release the sliding pieces, they only consisted of plastic sliding piece and a very small spring. I took some silicone lubricant and applied a very light amount with a q-tip to the contact surfaces between the cap and sliding pieces. I reassembled the lens cap and now it works 10X better.
