The B+W 67mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.
Kaesemann-type filters feature greater optical efficiency than regular polarizing foils and are more neutral in color. The polarizing foils are cemented between plano-parallel optical glass layers, which are then precision-polished to achieve the most accurate plano-parallel surface. This edge sealing protects the filter layers from humidity and are ideal for use with high-speed telephoto and apochromatic lenses.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

The Kaeseman line of B+W polarizers are excellent photographic tools. Outstanding optics, MRC glass coatings and weather-sealed edges make for the best circular polarizer money can buy. And in case you weren't certain on this, yes, you do still need these with a digital camera. Glare is glare, whether it's being recorded on film or a sensor. It still must go, and nothing banishes glare better than a polarizer. Why this polarizer? Because, if you're smart, you invested your precious money in the best lenses you could afford. Why would you want to go cheap now and put a substandard piece of glass on the end of it? Relative to your lenses, this is a small investment, but one that will return huge benefits. It will last a lifetime if you take care of it, and will improve your photos no end. Don't consider anything less.

Honestly I thought this filter would be the best buy simply because of the high quality it said to offer. I purchased it to use with my 100mm L macro lens, but it gets stuck quite frequently on the lens and I have to use a rubber band to get it off. I think the ring that has the filter threads is too thin because there's hardly anything to grab onto to try and spin it off the lens.
I wouldn't buy a Kaeseman again. Not worth the high cost.

Grat filter, strong Construction. I like the efect because it is very subtle and soft.Perhaps making the scena too dark (at least more than my previous polarizer)...not a big problem, I have to get used.
I use it majority for landscapes and architecture
maybe the price is a little high, but not too much ... it's a good option!!!

B+W filters are simply synonymous with quality.
Their circular polarizers are usually a little "stiff"(hard to turn). I thought the sealed construction of the Kaesemann might be even stiffer, not so.

i purchase online at [*] because of comfort and service, well B&H will get all of my camera business from now on This is my fourth purchase with them this Christmas season. There shipping is the fastest i have had and the prices are as low or lower than anyone on line. About the Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter, It was everything I expected. I used it indoors (kind of) in the Opryland Hotel in Nashville. I took waterfalls photos and flowers. They are a little pricy but if you get that one picture you are looking for you know the optics will be good. Again the service is great

This filter works really well for outdoor scenic shots, I se it for people shots too, gives a slower shutter speed for fill flash, I leave it on during the bright part of the day, very neutral color, efficient--only drawback is the high price, seems worth it, though, gives confidence that you have the best, though there are more expensive ones out there.

Just picking this up tells you it is a quality filter. Very solid construciton and the filter rotates nicely; not too loose or tight. Optical clarity is great. Took a few quick test shots and images are notably better than when using a lesser grade of filter. If you spend more than several hundred dollars on a quality lens, then you really need to spend the money for quality filters. It makes a difference.

Comments about B+W 67mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter:
I use polarizing filters almost all the time to enrich colours in my outdoor shots. This one is as the other reviews say: good quality glass and a nice solid ring although the inner one is a wee bit thin and so can be hard to grasp to get off the rubber hood. I usually have to take both off, separate them, and then put the filter back on the lens. However, this is not such a problem compared to the benefits a polarizer bring!
The effect on the shots does seem to be better than the cheaper filter I've used for years, although I have not compared them side to side.

A pola filter is in my opinion an indispensable part of any photog's kit.
This B+W pola filter is simply the best available, it is sealed at the edges which means it will not separate over time preventing moisture damage, the multi-coating guarantees a sharp reflection free image.
No point in having expensive glass if you are going to put poor quality filters in front of it.

A CP is a must have filter. I have bought a few B&W Circular Polarizers and just love the quality from this brand. I bought a Hoya CP and unfortunately they installed the glass backwards. I used it like that for quite a while when I realized it was not doing a very good job removing reflections. I found a simple test to know if your CP glass was installed correctly. Hold the filter in your hands as if you were the camera sensor and look through the filter at your computer monitor. When you turn the filter the screen should go black, if it doesn't than look at it backwards, if it turns black than you know it was installed incorrectly. I've never had this problem with B&W.
