The B+W 95mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. The light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing the light to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges, and filters, this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage.
A circular polarizer only differs from a linear polarizer in that it contains a quarter wave plane in addition to the linear polarizing filter. The addition of this quarter wave plane is to circularly polarize the linearly polarized light for the use of auto focus and exposure functions. Due to how the light is broken down and filtered with a linear polarizer, auto focus and exposure accuracy become skewed during use. When the light becomes circularly polarized, it permits the use of these functions.
Kaesemann-type filters feature greater optical efficiency than regular polarizing foils and are more neutral in color. The polarizing foils are cemented between plano-parallel optical glass layers, which are then precision-polished to achieve the most accurate plano-parallel surface. This edge sealing protects the filter layers from humidity and are ideal for use with high-speed telephoto and apochromatic lenses.
The Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) is both an anti-reflection coating as well as a protective surface. It helps to increase light transmission by reducing reflections, scattered light, and ghosting. Additionally, it offers greater protection to the filter substrate and stays cleaner for longer than uncoated filters.
B+W filters are constructed from high quality Schott glass for increased optical clarity and color fidelity. They feature a brass filter ring for durability as well as jamming prevention.

Comments about B+W 95mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter:
As a very enthusiastic intermediate level photographer who loves to shoot nature and landscapes, I appreciate the high quality of the Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter. It has a medium price range (especially for a 95mm filter) yet it meets my high expectations. There is absolutely no distortion, does not change the clarity of my photos, and when it states it reduces haze and blue cast in landscapes and helps to eliminate reflections and glare, you can count on it to do just that. It is very sturdy and easy to put on or take off the lens. Very happy with this CP filter.

Comments about B+W 95mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter:
We went to Yelowstone NP for 10 days & I used it almost continually to get those great shots of the wildlife with the enhanced skies & water in the scenes. The only time it was off was in very low light conditions.

Again, I prefer B+W filters. The quality for the $$is unsurpassed! The deep threads on this filter gaurantee a strong attachment, yet the filter rotates easily. I am very happy with this purchase.

I take a lot of surfing photos. This filter has reduced the glare from the water and deepened the sky color.
Comments about B+W 95mm Kaesemann Circular Polarizer MRC Filter:
The polarizing filter is one of the only two filters that I still need since having fully embraced the digital age---you can't create this effect in post-production. (The other is the 10-stop neutral density filter for taking long exposures). Since I have an auto-focus Hasselblad, I need the circular polarizer to make the auto-focus work. And since I live in Hawaii, I wanted it "edge-sealed" against fungus or salt air. With its brass construction and multi-coating, this wonderful filter is also ungodly expensive, and that is the only down side. I have three lenses, which take different filter sizes, so I bought adapter rings, and just this one filter for the largest size lens, and use it on all the lenses.
