Ok, so if your even thinking twice about buying this developer your nuts. its the cheapest one out there and super easy to mix and use. just have 3 1 liter botles pour the chems in and mix. that easy. the only time i have had issues were if the film was 30 plus years old and i developed too long, or i loaded them in steel reels which were hard to use and overlaped the film on accedent. user error :( so i got plastic reels. :) happy face.

One last note. don't loose your instructions!!!!!!!! i could not stress this enough. but if you do, here they are for the hand tank method.

      **type time temp agitation**

      *pre-soak* 1min 102 none
      *developer* 3.5min 102 agitate first
      10sec then 4
      inversions every 30secs
*Blix* 6.5min 95-105 same as above
***rest can be done in open tank***
      *wash* 3min 95-105 running water
*stabalizer* 1/2-1min room temp agitatate 15sec

It's difficult to give this kit a fair rating, since results are subject to my own competencies. I used this to develop 6 rolls of 120 film (so far). Five of the rolls were Portra 800, and one roll was Fuji 160 Pro. The Fuji film came out stunningly good, as good or better than the lab I usually use (NCPS). If I were to base this review solely on that, it would be 5 stars for sure. The Portra came out less well. Two of the rolls had a color cast that was very difficult to impossible to correct digitally. The remaining 3 rolls came out fairly well, just a slight (and correctable) color cast, but not what I would call professional results. Maintaining temps was easier than I thought, so I don't think I messed anything up during the process, but I'm definitely a newbie...

Comments about Tetenal C-41 Press Kit for Color Negative Film (Powder):

This kit is super easy to use. I bought this kit dozens of times in the past year and the results never disappoint. The chemistry is simple enough to mix (just make sure you wear a mask) and keep it in dark air tight containers once it is mixed so you will get the most life out of your chemistry. With a product like this I'm surprised more people don't hand process their own color film, it saves so much money and time.

My only issue with it is that even after I rinse my film for 8+ minutes there is still some chemistry residue left on some of the film. Always requires a second water wash after drying the film.

Comments about Tetenal C-41 Press Kit for Color Negative Film (Powder):

I bought this kit so I could avoid the wait and expense of sending my film away for processing. I use it to process 120 film, and I've used it on Portra 160/400 and Ektar 100 with the same timing and technique given in the instruction sheet.

This was my first attempt to process color film myself, and the kit made it very easy. Despite always operating on the misconception that c41 was much more difficult than BW, I found it was even easier than black and white, and faster. If you're set up for black and white, you don't need to have any extra equipment - just warmer water.

I guess the drawback would be that the instructions say that you should use it up within a week and it only gives 8 rolls of 120, but I've been using it for 2 weeks now (maybe 6 rolls) without any loss of quality that I can discern. I keep the solutions in the dark in 1L glass bottles. Even if I only get 6 rolls out of it, I would have paid close to $70 ($10/roll +shipping) to send that same amount of film to the online film processor I've been using and had to wait a week to get my negatives back. I think it would be reasonable to get at least 10 rolls out of one kit which gives a significant savings in terms of the per-roll cost.

I'm going to order two more kits now and keep them in reserve.

Comments about Tetenal C-41 Press Kit for Color Negative Film (Powder):

I had prepared this kit some 7 months ago and processed some 10 rolls of 120 film, a dozen of 35mm and pushed some 2 stops over during that time.

This kit s recommend to anyone who wants to do C41 at home and for consistency. From Ektar 100, Portra 160/400 and some Fujifilm 400, this kit works very well.

I'm on my 6th batch now, and the most recent has lasted 5 months and I've developed 15 rolls of 35mm color, 2 rolls of 120, and cross processed another 2-3 rolls of E6, and it's still going strong. I will be mixing a new batch soon, just to be safe, but keeping it in the proper containers, purging out the air, storing it in a cool dark place, does wonders for it's longevity.

Using a simple hot water bath makes temp control a snap, and using distilled water for all of the solutions seems to help provide more consistent results as well as spot free film.

I love this product, and I figure I come out at about a $1 a roll, with much better results than anything but maybe a custom lab.

Comments about Tetenal C-41 Press Kit for Color Negative Film (Powder):

I shoot many types of photography, color negatives is only one of them. I like this product because it is the most cost-effective way of developing your negatives. For most of my negative works, it works good and I enjoy doing the development. But if you are serious about your results, i.e. shooting for your clients etc., you do need a good photo lab.

Comments about Tetenal C-41 Press Kit for Color Negative Film (Powder):

In a digital world I still find that traditional film fits. I guess it's the old fashion in me. Yes, its mostly digital now, but I enjoy the challenge of film photography from time to time. The challenge of one great shot created with ones ability to set the camera and process it to the final result. It's been harder to get the chemicals for negs and positive film, so finding this kit was was good luck for me. I was always used to liquid mixes, but the powder formula mixes easily and the process is straight forward.

Easy to use, and reasonably priced. This kit develops about 30 4x5 sheets for me, at a fraction of the cost of having it done at a lab. Great results.

Matter of necessity, the last photo lab. in town doing C41 is not doing it any longer, so I dusted my old skills with the Jobo Press kit from B&H. (1L) If you do b/w developing is not that more complicated or difficult. You have to manage keeping the solutions and the developing tank at a constant 39C +/- 1C for the duration of the process. It is more the logistic of doing that with hot/cold water containers than anything else. What I do for 4x5 is illustrated here toward the end of the article: www.largeformatphotography.info/unicolor/ doing it for E-6 but no different than the C41 Press kit.:-)

Awesome C-41 processing kit with easy to follow instructions and less steps because bleach and fix are combined. Developed my first two rolls of 120 with it and it went amazingly. Negatives may seem magenta at first, but seem to clear up while drying.
