This cloth covered cable is very flexible so it won't easily kink. It has a simple locking screw for holding the shutter open for long periods. It's well made, has smooth operation with a full 1/2" of travel. The plastic sheath on plastic covered cable releases separate fairly quickly on one end or the other. For an all around cable release you won't be disappointed with this one. For most work 20" is good size. Don't bother with anything shorter unless you're absolutely sure.
