Comments about Matthews Century C+ Turtle Base Grip Arm Kit - 10.5' (3.2m):
This product is exactly what I was looking for. I do a lot of commercial, product photography and needed a stand that would support heavier-than-normal loads securly. This does the trick quite nicely. I'm able to easily and securily support a large 1,000 w/s strobe and 7' octobox with no problem.

The Matthews C Stand is a must on any video/film production set. You just can't do the work without them. And Matthews builds a great stand that is sure to last a long time.

I use this stand in the studio for the standard flag/gobo/scrim holder, but I also love it as a boom stand for Profoto D1 Air monos with various modifiers up to and including a 3X4 Softbox, 5 foot Octa, etc. A sandbag on the high leg and I don't worry about anything tipping into the talent and no counter weights required. Liked this stand so much I ordered two more after using it twice!

So glad I bought this stand! Very sturdy. I use it with an Elinchrom RX600 and a beauty dish. Works great! No regrets about this pricey boom.

Super rugged stands for holding large scrims and flags. We use 2 of these for holding up 48" x 48" reflectors. With a couple of shot bags, these hold up even in the wind. Highly recommend.

I have had the stand less than a week and I have already used it for several different applications. It's the perfect tool for just about everything, and I don't know how I shot without it's help. Also, the height of the stand is rather impressive!

Comments about Matthews Century C+ Turtle Base Grip Arm Kit - 10.5' (3.2m):
I bought this because I wasn't happy with kit light stands. It's very stable and solid. The options (turtle base, grip arm) give it a lot of versatility and work well. I wish the top riser had a little more length when closed. As it is now, I usually have to begin the lift using the attached fixture. Still, I'm glad I went with the best.

Matthews practically invented what we know today as a C stand. Exceptionally sturdy, well built, and will last you a long time.
I'm a cinematographer, and theses stands are seen on just about every professional set. They're incredibly versatile, and simply do what they need to do.

Comments about Matthews Century C+ Turtle Base Grip Arm Kit - 10.5' (3.2m):
I like the new locking knuckles on these stands - they're easier to lock and unlock, and I can only imagine years of rock-solid use from them. The locking mechanism for the feet could be a little easier to turn, but that's just searching for criticism, really. I like that the stand can come out and make a turtle base. That's extra economy of gear, and something I find myself doing from time to time.

Comments about Matthews Century C+ Turtle Base Grip Arm Kit - 10.5' (3.2m):
Matthews is among the top names for lighting and grip equipment. Their C-stands are time-tested. I've used less expensive brands, which are fine for occasional use. If you want the most rugged, battle-proven stands in the business go with these. One of the biggest differences between the Matthews and other brands is the "knuckle" or grip head. Lowest cost units aren't as smooth and sometimes freeze up. I've had to hit these other brand heads with a wrench to free them up.
If you work a lot and/or appreciate fine craftsmanship, go with Matthews. If you only use C-stands occassionally, you can probably get by with the lower priced unit.

Comments about Matthews Century C+ Turtle Base Grip Arm Kit - 10.5' (3.2m):
Awesome stand. This thing makes the aluminum ones look downright flimsy. The key to this thing is its ability to get your light right where you want it with the grip arm and the legs are fairly compact and won't get in the way of your shot. Big and heavy it should last you a lifetime and then somebody else will get it and last them for decades too.

Well made and sturdy C-stand. The removable legs base make it perfect for on the go location shooting. Much easy to pack or fit in a tight space with the legs base removed. Definitely worth spending a bit more than the standard non-removable base.
