The product is the the most high value L lens in the market. The sharpness is stunting even at F2. The bokeh is also amazing. If 85L is too expensive for you, then definitely choose it one. The limitation of this lens is most recognizable when shooting indoor. When doing outdoor photography, no so much a challenge. Additionally, there isn't much difference between 200mm and 135mm when framing. If you are shooting at 200mm more often, then this lens will give you better performance than the 70-200mm. P.S. These piece of glasses is beautiful. I indulge myself looking at it for most of the time.

Well built lens and useful focal length for what I shoot (portraits). Just make sure you have adequate shutter & proper focus. Color, contrast & sharpness are really nice.

I first used this lens when a friend asked me to take a picture of him and his wife. After taking a few shots I looked at the shots and was amazed. This lens is fast, clear and great to use. Anyone who has not tried this lens should.

I had a 300mm 4.0 IS, great lens! My 200MM 2.8L plus 2X extender gives me almost the same with less weight. Then I got a hold of my dream lens, the ultimate" 200mm L 1.8 Whoa! They don't make lenses like this anymore. I had to sell it, too heavy for me I am 78 years old. I was going to buy the 200mm 2.0, too expensive. I looked at the 135mm L 2.0. I did one test. Whoa! Most of the time fully open. This is it! Plus I can use it with the extender X2 if need be. Mainly birds, squirrels. All those lenses are of course Canon. I can't stand Zoom, not enough light and I never know where or what is happening with the lens. My hesitation was over when I found the Canon 135mm f2.0 at B&H at a price I could not pass. This was a long, long search that ended with the best possible lens addition to my collection, all straight lenses.I hate the new term Bokeh! We used "out of focus" all of my life because this is what it is. I want to throw up when I read " creamy bokeh!" They think they are intelligent because they use a Japanese word that means out of focus. Very upsetting!

Bought this after reading numerous reviews regarding the wide aperture and capabilities with portrait photography. After owning this for two weeks, I am in awe of it's capabilities. In addition, as far as the price points on the other "L Series", it's quite reasonable. An excellent investment.

I bought this lens on the last trip I made to New York and am loving. This does not go out of my body more than 6D. It is sharp, very sharp even. You will not need more sharpening to your photos. :-) Very well built, like all lens L. The price is good compared to other lenses L. Well worth the purchase.

I have owned Canon's 85 f1.2 for many years and consider it my go-to portrait lens, usually wide open. However, there are occasions when putting more distance between lens and subject is a good idea. This 135 fills that role perfectly. It is insanely sharp, not too heavy, less obvious and intimidating than either of the 70 -200 zooms and very easy to focus. (I always manual focus.) The 135mm focal length used to be considered the second lens that any photographer would buy right after getting his camera and "normal" 50mm lens. These days, few bother with anything but zooms. Let me assure you, if you are serious about your photography, there are many good reasons to buy fixed focal length lenses and this one is one of the most useful.

I have just had this lens a couple weeks and have not yet had the chance to try it out as a portrait lens. The paid shoots I am doing at the moment are boudoir, and the studio I use is not large enough for me to be able to shoot a full body shot with this lens. However, I did take it to the zoo and am attaching a photo I shot with it using the Canon 7D. This lens is very reasonably priced for the quality it produces.

That is my fourth glass but the first proffesional. I make shots everywhere and always realy happy with quality. Finally I do not need my speedlight when do capturing indoor.The only problem what I've got with it - frustration with quality of my wide lens (17-40 f2L), that means I need more funds to get better one.

Two nights ago I was in a blind next to the Platte River in central Nebraska waiting for tens of thousands of Sand Hill cranes to come to me. As expected once the sun went down the cranes began appearing in mind staggering numbers. I had two camera setups with me, a 1D Mark IV with a 100-400mm L lens attached, and my 5D Mark III with the 135 attached. The 1D4/100-400 combination disappointed me, it just couldn't lock focus very often at all. On the other hand the 135 saved the day, every single image I shot with it right up until near total darkness was razor sharp focused.
