The Pentax F5PL Extension Cord provides Off-Camera TTL Flash capability for Pentax cameras when used in combination with
- Off Camera Shoe Adapter F (#31022)
- and
- Hot Shoe Adapter F(#31046) OR Hot Shoe Adapter Fg(#31045).
The difference between Hot Shoe Adapter F & Hot Shoe Adapter FG is that the "FG" version allows the use of a camera's pop-up flash while the "F" version obstructs use of pop-up flashes but has a flash shoe of its own.
Note! The shorter F5P (#37347) can be substituted for the F5PL Extension Cord in this combination if shorter distance is desired between the camera & the flash, with less clutter

Comments about F5PL 9.5' Extension Cord for Off-Camera TTL Flash with Pentax Cameras:
I use it for off camera flash work at weddings and for portraiture. I also use it with other off camera flashes that are controlled by radio and they both work well together.
I have given it 4 stars only because I would have preferred it to be longer!

Comments about F5PL 9.5' Extension Cord for Off-Camera TTL Flash with Pentax Cameras:
Long enough to position flash. Made of soft plastic or rubber for easy handling.
Must be careful when connecting the Off Camera Shoe Adapter and the Hot Shoe Adapter F.

Comments about F5PL 9.5' Extension Cord for Off-Camera TTL Flash with Pentax Cameras:
I use the cord with the Pentax Hot Shoe Adapter F. Everything works fine. I use it with the K10D and the 540FGZ flash.
I actually like it better than using wireless flash on the K10D. Wireless might be cool but I cannot even remember how to set up the wireless flash function on the K10D or the 540 flash.(!?!) I can't keep on referring to the flash manual to see how to do wireless when I have someone to shoot. :-/
The F5P Extension Cord allows ALL of the normal flash modes: P-TTL, Auto, and Manual. I like using the F5P extension cord with the 540 on a light stand in a bounce back reflective umbrella (white or silver) with the flash sensor facing the subject's area and the head swiveled backwards. That way, I can still use Auto or P-ttl just fine and can skip using a handheld flash meter when I want. Very simple setup.
The only thing about it is that I wish the cord were longer. I thought 9.5ft for me would be long enough, and it is long... but I actually think I want twice as much length. Great product! :-D

Comments about F5PL 9.5' Extension Cord for Off-Camera TTL Flash with Pentax Cameras:
each of the cable ends has a push connector that is secured to the flash by screwing in the metal ring.
i hooked up two pentax af-540fgz flashes, one that was mounted on top of a k10d, and both flashes acted in perfect sync, as one flash, even at 1/2500th of a second.
since the 540fgz already has the proper connector on the side of the flash, there was no need to purchase any additional hardware.
